Haha. How so?

Hey mods, i think you guys need to start invoking rule 3. The spamming in this forum is getting so bad it's hard to find useful posts anymore.

it's still new and lots of room for improvement though, the new x1950xt can't utilize the full ability of the ddr4 memory as it is bottlenecked by the gpu itself.

Does using a graphic card that has GDDR3 on a motherboard with DDR2 memory has any effect? or is it more advisable to have both on the same level like using a graphic card that DDR2 on a motherboard with DDR2 memory?
I'm planning to get a new graphic card but not so sure about this whole DDR2, GDDR3 and GDDR4.
Can someone please enlighten me?
Thanks and Merry Christmas y'all! smile.gif

mm, I dont think so. Coz graphics memory is only to be used by teh GC. The motherboard ram a.k.a system memory is used for the system. For entry level GC usually have this Turbo cache thing that cause the GC to share memory with the system mem, so it should be affected abit. And i'm not sure about this, since if you are using higher frequency ram paired with lower frequency ram, the high frequency ram will downclocked to the lower frequency ram, so if the GC is using DDR3 and shared mem. with the system mem. which is DDR2 , the DDR3 will be downclocked. Well i think so tongue.gif But most entry level cards usually not using DDR3.

Btw, i still think that DDR3 is still great and DDR4 is overpowered lol.

DDR2,DDR3,DDR4 is the verson of DDR. DDR3 is faster and better performance than DDR2. The same goes to DDR4. And if you having faster mem, it will allows you to overclock better.

So in another word, in order for both the graphic card and system memory to work hand in hand, its better to have both to be in the same memory family group like graphic card and system memory to be in DDR2?

nope. RAM on motherboard and memory on graphic card is different. as long your board supports PCI-E, it shouldn't be a problem. you can have your DDR2 RAM and at the same time using a DDR3/DDR4 graphic card. no problem

the DDR2/DDR3/DDR4 memory on graphic cards indicate its own memory. system memory is another thing, which is your RAM
