i only saw until 1.38

notice that althought i choose the language as english, a lot of the apps, specially nubia apps still show as chinese apps...

This is becoz this phone is meant for China market and the ROM developers are Chinese, so the English in the ROM becomes Chinglish. Quite common for Chinese smartphones. If you don't like it, there is a tutorial on the net on how to root and install CM11. User AndroidFreak CEO already did that.

Another major reason ZTE prefer old school 2.5GB system storage/partition is to ensure when updating from stock ROM to another newer stock ROM, the update process will not disturb your media/3rd party apps/data/etc. During OTA update, it will only "disturb" the 2.5GB partition. Hence, your existing/installed apps will not be reset/removed.

If everything is unified, then, after OTA, all your media/3rd pay apps/data/etc will be removed.

Overall, there are pro and cons for 2.5GB partition and unified 8/16/32GB system partition...

I personally prefer the 2.5GB partition so that if anything happened to the 2.5GB system core files, it can be easily recovered/revived without worrying the database for gaming and apps database are lost. We still need to install back these apps but the database is still intact in the internal storage.

Example, you almost complete Asphalt 8 game. Only a few more tracks to go. Suddenly, your Android system files corrupted. Hence, you are required to hard reset/flash back the stock ROM. After hard reset, you realised the Asphalt 8 is totally gone. All your hard work, in-app purchased and the joy to finish the game totally gone and have to start all over again. If there is 2.5GB system storage, you don't lost your record/database. Just re-install back Asphalt 8 and the database/history will be recovered automatically.

But, as of today, lots of apps and games offer cloud storage backup. Meaning, once you have finished one level/stage, it will be automatically backed up to the cloud using your account in the app/games. Therefore, the need for 2.5GB is totally redundant. Unified storage is more preferable...

I have owned LeMoto P780 since last year. It's 8GB variant. Out of the box, it has the 2.5GB system storage. This is during Jelly Bean. But now, LeMoto has released latest ROM that unified 8GB as system storage. But, before OTA update, there is a warning message asking you to do proper backup before OTA. So that, after OTA, you just reinstall back all the apps and restore the back-ups manually ONE-BY-ONE....

So, it's personal choice in the end...

Eh, got cm11 v2 oledi? I assume this is still the unofficial build rite? Has the infrared issue been solved on the new version? If it is, i am tempted to install it ...

Guy need help on my phone.  After further use.  Ow with dual sim celcom.  But I notice that both sim it also detect as maxis sim.... Any one facing this? Yes no problem.  Makes and receive call.  Still can show h+ signal when I am on 3g location . One more,  the dual sim 4g actually only 1 can use at malaysia 4g? I notice the description of the sim got diff.

still unofficial .....dual sim work like a charm...but have to make clean install ....advisable to reset phone...wipe data and cache etc.

I'm trying to understand your situations....

Whatever they are, ensure:
1) You've already upgraded your micro-SIMs to 4G LTE chip. Goto nearest counter service to change/upgrade the SIMs. It's RM10 per SIM.

2) After slot in the SIM(s), set the Access Point (AP) Names properly. Again, refer to the counter on the AP name for the 4G LTE SIMs. Eg. Celcom = "celcom4g".

3) In the Card One settings, ensure the "Network operators" mode is set to "Choose Automatically".

4) In the Card One settings, ensure the "Preferred network type" mode is set to "Others".

5) Reboot z7 Max.

I believe you are still in stock ROM v1.38, right?

yes, you r right, i am still on stock 1.38. my phone detected got 1.41 update but i try download, and reboot it failed to update for me, 2 times already....

oh preferred network need set as others? and yes my celcom is 4g lte ready, before that i am using it on oneplus one with monthly package and i can get 4g speed at my office... mayb the package expired already so i need to subscribe another monthly package only can activate back the 4g service.

U cannot use the software update from within the OS in v1.38, i just doesn't work. I have tried it too and it failed. You need to root it first, instal CWM recovery and then download v1.41 (full update, 724MB file) from needrom.com and gapps.zip and flash away from recovery. I think a lot of your sim issues will be resolved as soon as u update to v1.41.
