QUOTE(Penzman @ Sep 2 2006, 06:00 PM)
I wonder why it is that driving with a wheel makes us that much slower... Even with same aids on as keyboard drivers. I only use TC HIGH and Stability HIGH. I won't quit until I find the answer. Wasn't this game designed for use with wheel first of all? Ever seen real cars driven by keyboard ? shakehead.gif
AS for those with braking problems in the first corner or when tailgating someone to a corner, the answer is simple. When you follow a car too close, you lose LOTS of downforce on the front and some but less at the back because of the front car causing disturbance in the air pocket it leaves behind. The air flowing onto your wings is very turbulent and unsteady, not smooth as the car gets in front.

user posted image
*
The braking...using the legs to the pedals for braking is longer compare to
fingers on the keyboard.

Some experts in rFactor told me, put all aids OFF and see how keyboard players
struggle laugh.gif

Don't quit yet...rFactor is the real thing.
All aids OFF is real racing.
Can go faster too.

QUOTE(gkl83 @ Sep 2 2006, 06:08 PM)
this information applied in F1C? quite technical... sweat.gif

maybe is bcos the keyboard is either 100% or 0% throttle/brake... u can push harder and brake harder... so for MOMO maybe u all can apply 50% or 75% only, maybe is tat why u slow... or u try the "keyboard style" on ur momo, either 100% or 0% only... maybe use finger will have faster respond than legs i think...
*
What's the point of buying a MOMO if we're using keyboard style of driving.
No real feeling lah.

Fingers are faster than legs.
Besides...comparing keyboard buttons with pedals? No contest.

QUOTE(Penzman @ Sep 2 2006, 06:13 PM)
Man, I've tried rFactor again last night and this afternoon. Veeeery addictive.
F1C feels like an old game compared to rFactor.
Control:  Wow! Again, it makes F1C look and feel like an old game.  TRACTION CONTROL, you can drive a bit easier with it OFF. The difference? You can hear and feel the difference with force feedback.  The car is much more nervous than F1C, you can follow real close and have more control/sensitivity around an other car. The brakes and steering  respond much better than F1C.
The sounds:  The engine sounds are amazing! You know that roaring high screaming distorted sound an f1 engine makes when you're in neutral and rev to the max quickly in quick successions? Sweeeeeeet  tongue.gif  Wait until you hear it in 7th gear at full revs, screaaaaaaaming! The sounds are all great overall. The sounds are so sensitive you even get the wobbling sound effect that an engine makes when you hit bumps or run on dirt/grass.
I'm buying it. I think it's the next game to have for racers. Many Mods, no cheats and great addons, can even download tracks and all when you connect to a server.

You can download a free trial version, limited to 2 cars 2 tracks. Well worth a try.
*
I'm also thinking moving to rFactor.
Try all aids OFF...except Clutch.

Now I understand why in F1C..the pole position in all the circuits were slower.
It's hard driving with a MOMO.

Since I'm going slow now with MOMO compare to keyboard players...so I think I'll only compete personally with other steering wheel users.
Penzman is better though (as in a wheel user)...he uses manual gear shift.
Me..auto tongue.gif
I think Evo's using a wheel too.

I lost nearly a minute as a result of went wide and off road.
Strugglin with Low Steering Asst.

Oh yeah...I went wide on that last corner at the final lap tongue.gif
Thank god Penz was 1-2 seconds behind sweat.gif

Also, my last pit stop was only 8 seconds...just 5 laps of fuel went in.
All worked out well.
Me lucky though...Penz did a few mistakes.
I followed RH advice to less 200RPM for the race.

Also, I used Hard tyres.
Thought gonna made any difference since tyre x2.
Tried to change to Soft during pit stop.

Tyre cannot be changed during race. Once you use that tyre, you're stuck with that during the whole weekend. and somehow, I survived a 100% race distance at sepang using soft tyre and 1 stopping.
*
I learn that the hard way shakehead.gif
100% is different I guess from 40%.
Maybe the amount of fuel during Start and 1st pit were equal.
Also, driving slow can save fuel smile.gif

Grip level on RH2005 is much  lesser than on RH2004 accordingly to racesim and team redline. Hence, if we opt to upgrade to RH2005, there will be much less racing amongst each other whilst on the track (or maybe more accidents)

I'm trying now...step by step.

1st...steering assistance OFF.

Evo, you're using auto trans or manual?

I'm started to get the hang of NO steering assistance.
Will use it for Malaysia till the end of the season.

League races.

you were leading for 5 laps correct?
