Hi, I am looking for a laptop for home use. Basically just do some internet browsing and photo edit and design work. Not going for MAC due to the pricing.

Budget below RM3k. Did HP and Acer after sales support is good? IBM laptop still the best laptop ever? (I am kinda outdated about what's new in the market and etc)

Thanks.
*
so i suggest based on ur needs esp phto editing and design work..

yeah.. acer so far.. x much complain compare to asus.. sweat.gif

can consider acer V3-572PG-94RD, i7-4510U + Nvidia 840M + (1366x768; touch)@RM2899, 8GB, 1TB, W8.1

IBM i think no more.. IBM sold their PC division to Lenovo in 2004. Under the sale agreement, Lenovo was allowed to use the IBM brand on the Thinkpad laptops for up to 5 years after the sale, but IBM had no part in the manufacturing or marketing of them. IBM now.. towards military era gua.. haha.. satelite notebook.. or phone.. maybe.. xnoe

can consider this Lenovo Flex 2-15, i7-4510U + Nvidia 840M + (1920x1080 IPS; touch)+ 8GB SSGD + 500GB HDD@RM2799[2.3kg], 4GB, W8

Dear Sifus sekalian, need recommendation for laptop used for architecture purposes.

1. Preferred Brand

Any brand will do. Don't believe any specific brand is better rather its a hit-and-miss.

2. Budget

Within RM4000. Preferably just slightly above RM3000 but if RM4000 is what needed to get something good enough then let it be.

3. Usage

3D, Rendering, Animation, CAD

4. Preferred laptop/screen size

15-17 inch

Been looking into Illegears and MSI because they say gaming laptops always has the highest specs but I am not really sure if the specs for gaming laptop is relevant to the specs for an architecture laptop or not. Any experienced architect to give some advice?
*
yes, some gaming specs is relevent too..
it is best if have IPS display and ultra HD display laugh.gif 1920x1080 and 3840x2160 especially

Acer V7-582PG-74501225, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M + (1920x1080 IPS; touch) + 256GB SSD@RM3999, 12GB, 500GB, W8
Asus N550JV-CN077H, i7-4700HQ + Nvidia GT750M + (1920x1080; IPS matte) + Bluray@RM3799[2.7kg], 4GB, 1TB, W8, backlit keyboard

Thanks! Been looking at the Illegear Z5 recently and it seems like the best specs among the RM4k tier laptops and have lots of good reviews. Just wondering if I could get something at RM3k - RM3.5k with lower specs but still sufficient for architecture. Saving that few hundred RM means a lot to me sad.gif
*
that IPS display will give u sharp display.. sweat.gif dat makes it expensive. well its up to you. there is.. like R7-572G-54218G1T, i5-4210U + Nvidia GTX850M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080 IPS; touch)@RM3599[2.5kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8.1

i7 will gv more power for rendering 3D

i'm not sure.. as stated on paper/website.. might be differ when u have the laptop... as usage, how u take care of it and how u use it will influence the battery life.. some says, up to 3hrs.. or something. but when heavy usage, might be not even until 2hrs sometimes..

How about ASUS? From what I see most of their laptops still come with an optical drive. Some googling also pointed out that ASUS laptops are generally very reliable (although their tech support is not).

I've checked the ASUS list from one of the sellers here. This is what I found:

Asus A455LD (Red, White, Yellow, Black) – 14” / i5-5200U / 4GB / 1TB / GT820M 2GB / W8.1 : RM2040/-
Asus A555LD-XX206H (RED) : 15.6” / i5-4210U / 4GB O.B / 1TB / GT820M 2GB / W8.1 : RM1940/-
Asus A555LD-XX685H, XX686H (Black, Dark Blue, Red) : 15.6” / i5-5200U / 4GB O.B / 1TB / GT820M 2GB / W8.1 : RM2040/-
Asus A555LD-XX699H, XX700H, XX701H (Red, Gray, White) : 15.6” / i7-4510U / 4GB O.B / 1TB / GT820M 2GB / W8.1 : RM2410/-
Asus A555LJ-XX032H – 15.6 / I5-5200 / 4GB / 1TB / GT920M 2GB / W8.1 : RM2040/-
Asus A550JK-DM138H – 15.6 FHD / i7-4710HQ / 4GB / 1TB / GTX850M 2GB / W8.1 : RM2860/-
Asus X751LDV-TY358H Ultrabook – 17.3” / i5-5200U / 6GB / 1TB / GT820M 2GB / W8.1 : RM2310/-

The last one in particular looks like a good deal no? 17 inch, 6GB RAM, less than RM 2.5k.

Any thoughts people?
*
17" might be not portable enough for u since it is dekstop replacement.. yeah.. it is good deal though. yes, asus support esp service after sales is totally horrible. and took time so long when u do RMA sweat.gif the

this quite good offer asus A555LD-XX206H (RED) : 15.6” / i5-4210U / 4GB O.B / 1TB / GT820M 2GB / W8.1 : RM1940/-

hello, I would like to look for a decent laptop that can be used for simple video editing, basic photoshop, able to show an ok detailed environment in a not so heavy 3d virtual world (would like to take nice photo in SecondLife)

1. Preferred Brand: anything that is reliable, dell, hp, lenovo?
2. Budget; RM 1-2k
3. Usage: Simple video editing (just splice and stitch and publish), basic photoshop editing (not more than 5 layers), want to run 3D virtual world and see decent virtual environment that is pleasing to the eyes (secondlife)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - no preference, no need to big like 17", easy and light to carry around is more important

thank you!

She doesnt mind about the colour now sweat.gif

Z50 with i7 how much rite now?

If u hve to make choice between that asus and z50, which one you'll pick?

laugh.gif

Z50-70, i7-4510U + Nvidia 840M + (1920x1080)@RM2799[2.2kg], 4GB, 1TB, W8.1, 2 yrs

since she doing solid engineering things... auto cad and rendering..

do consider this hp Pavilion 15-p036TX, i7-4510U + Nvidia 840M@RM2499[BeatsAudio], 8GB, 1TB, freeDOS; W8.1@RM2699 weight Starting at 2.27 kg

comes with better speaker.. Buy w/o free gift.. and it will be within your budget.. laugh.gif think dat is da best... cz u need ram a lot for engineering things.. if she still want z50 / asus... i pick z50...
