How is hp omen 128gb version?
Hp website still sell around 5.4k while you can get 4.7k at techhypermark. I haven check price at shop any1 know

price on the higher side but what you get is touchscreen; amazing build quality, design and mobility (small and light but average battery life).
personally, i wont spend that much but if i have the luxury? I would go for it lolx.

that horrible cover + screen flex is far from being "good quality".

Is Lenovo Flex is the only 14inches laptop that can flip?
*
the yoga can as well.
anyways flex-2 have an extra RAM slot for upgrade (though it is better getting whoever you buy from to upgrade it for you as it wont void warranty if they are lenovo's authorized seller)

Currently using Lenovo y500 SLI GT650m running Ubunbu Gnome. Intern as IOS Developer. Going to pursue final year degree in Computer science in US.

Not sure whether to continue building apps for IOS. But looking for a premium build laptop. Planning to pass this Gaming laptop to my younger bro as I don't need so much GPU power.

If money is not a problem. What's the best laptop for programmer/ developer ?

- premium build quality
- support 2x external monitor
- resolution as high as possible. 2k or 4k
- ram : 16gm (multi VMs)
- Disk : ( anti HDD only SSD)
- more CPU less GPU. Intel GPU is fine. Afaik, intel gpu can now support 3x display.

- wait for 2015 mbpr 15' refresh?
- Dell Precision M3800 mobile workstation, developer edition (ubuntu), it has quadro, overpowered GPU. i dont think i need that.
- Any think pad series reached my requirements ? (i know they're good in build quality)
- or any other recommendation, other developer what are you using ?

for your current field, I guess a MBP would be better.
you can get the academic discount as well.

Really appreciate your replies. Ytd went to Harvey Norman and molested their mbp. Their build quality really not bad and there's a model without nvidia. By any chance you guys know about the after sale from Apple? Because I know their recent mbp is not upgradable friendly.
*
their after sales are amazing especially since you mentioned you would be going overseas.
i would suggest just ordering it online directly for the academic price as you said you would be studying still.

Hi, I am looking for a laptop for home use. Basically just do some internet browsing and photo edit and design work. Not going for MAC due to the pricing.

Budget below RM3k. Did HP and Acer after sales support is good? IBM laptop still the best laptop ever? (I am kinda outdated about what's new in the market and etc)

Thanks.
*
HPs pretty good from my experience and now with the promo they come with 3 years NBD warranty which is pretty good.
IBM Thinkpad still exist in the form of Lenovo Thinkpads and their engineers are with Lenovo now mainly.
IBM is more of a service provider than a manufacturer now.

thank for your reply ! thumbup.gif
i still have some question . icon_question.gif
for programming that not require powerful hardware?
so,the Intel pentium or celeron quad core processor can handle ?
*
yes you do not need powerful hardware.
in fact if you are in comp sci, you would learn to optimized your codes well enough to be below certain complexity.
as you are studying, the problems would not be complex at all.
other hardcore programming tasks (classification, machine learning etc) would not run on a laptop anymore (no matter how powerful your laptop is).

from my experience, get a mobile laptop with good battery life for quick coding etc (i am teaching CompSci in Monash) and if you can a SSD in it.

ps: get a dual core i5 for your processor, at least 8gb ram and a ssd
