I feel the lack of European football is deterring big names from joining us or... Ed Woodward clearly sucks in negotiating for complicated transfers (Vidal)? Sure Shaw and Herrara's transfer were peanuts but when it comes to 'bigger' names, Ed clearly does not have it.

He brags about how much we have but until now no substance, to me it is merely trash talking. Until we see another signing, I will continue to reiterate my stance of #KayuOut

Key things to take from yesterday:
1) Defense needs 1-2 reinforcements.
2) CM needs 1-2 reinforcements.
3) Chicharito and Nani didn't do anything for their case to be regular starters at the club.

Basically: Kayu has a lot of work to do, not only buying players but also with trimming the squad.

Moyes: Van Gaal needs time at United

Januzaj was wasted play too deep, he should be in Chicarito's place, James came in instead of Nani to fill in LWB, and Young moved to RWB.

Was a bit mad the defenders didn't try to play it through middle, should pass more to Fletcher and Herrera, what's the use of having Mata and Herrera in the middle then.

But it wasn't really a surprising result, the worst game United had in pre-season, as assessed by LvG, happened to take place at Old Trafford. The only team who gained more points away than home last season other than Sunderland is United.

yeah swansea plays high pressure at the mids causing us to over rely on wing backs.

but still i believe there's a mismatch between herrera and fletcher. fletcher has high work rate but a bit too slow. herrera prefers one touch passings but he always found himself at the back to compensate fletcher's low pace. so there's a big gap between 2 CM and mata, our CAM, enabling opponents to mark mata easier

curious to see how Van Persie gonna team up with rooney. the reason why Netherlands' 3-5-2 was a success in world cup is because they have robben as their 2nd striker. the tactic relies heavily in fast counter attack, not keeping possession. which makes me think Welbeck gonna shine this season.

Hence I said time is running out for both. If they don't improve then sure to be shipped out.

IF we do not get at least 2 signings this window, then my prediction/expectations for this season are:
- After 3 months = top 8
- After 6 months (assuming January window gets 1-2 decent signings) = top 6
- Season end = top 4

Top 2 = If you think we can get a foot between Chelsea and City this season then you are REALLY optimistic. Their teams are stacked and tweaked, their managers have had a season to work with the team. LVG is new to the job (remember WC delay, Kayu effect). Don't get me wrong, I want the team to do as well as it can. But need to be practical, consistent excellence will take time (and Kayu doing his damn job properly).

The US tour had pros and cons too:

Pros:
- Got to see the team play friendlies vs a lot of teams under the LVG system
- Marketing and money for the club

Cons:
- Time spent flying around so much (jetlag, tiring).
- Less time spent training (due to travel and games) means LVG had less time to drill the team to his requirements. This is the sort of thing that shows when the pressure is ramped up (which is why during friendlies ok, come competitive games struggle to do it right).
- Cos of the above 2, injuries and inconsistent performances.

SAF joined the club when it was really in a bad place (worse than it was before LVG joined), and even he almost didn't survive. No modern manager will have 3-4 years in the PL the way SAF had.

And Vidal or Strootman would not make the team instant title contenders either. Both had long term injuries, both not familiar with EPL and the team.

Everything takes time. My main expectation with LVG is that his ability and experience will soften the bumps a bit, but there WILL be bumps.

next season liao, it must be, 1 game lost = 38 games lost to some obsessed sei 7 zai.
there's no more loyalty and patience in modern football la. everyone also expect instant hit, instant results. or else we also won't be calling for some marquee signing though it's really devastated to lost the opening home game lost to swansea.
if this continues, i don't think top 4 is a realistic target, but all in all, need to find back the spirit.

Carrick is already in his 30s and injured for 2-3 months. Fletcher is also no spring chicken and tires out. IF someone of Vidal standard was signed, Fletcher would probably be benched to cover.

Strootman is young, but due to him currently recovering from a serious injury the soonest he might be available is in January...assuming Roma will even agree.
