QUOTE(drfeelgood @ Aug 7 2014, 11:36 AM) No need to do anything to it. The rubbish tak tak tak sound is either the built in purge valve for IAFM+ or the external purge valve for IAFM on older model, which happened more frequent on BLM/FL. However, 1 should note that the sympthoms of having bad purge valve is slightly different than having loose shims on the valve tapper. Bad purge valve will have sound like "tock tock tock tock" very loud & bassy noise, whereas loose valve shims will have sound like "tek tek tek tek", milder & higher pitch sound. To repair purge valve for IAFM/IAFM+, just replace it for a small price to pay, usually within 200. If u wish to get rid of the ticking noise from valve shims, it needs to take off the entire engine head, detach 16valves, regrind the valves, clean up the engine head thoroughly with petrol, soak it on high detergent engine oil over night, reseat the valves, put in new shims, plot a new set of head gasket(recommend to use organic gasket instead of metal gasket to avoid leakage, once u open the engine head there's no guaranteed straightness of the head). Then your engine will be silent as new. Oh & probably need a new set of timing belt after the top overhaul. Cost of top overhaul will cost around 1-1.5k depending on labor charges of the workshops. So, does it worth that much of trouble just to get rid of the noise? Performance wise, don't expect much difference. In the end, its only a restore job. |

QUOTE(V12Kompressor @ Aug 7 2014, 12:22 PM) 1) No rattling sound at all, below 3krpm the car selow rike carrying 1 gajah, 1 gorilla & me around. Approach 4krpm suddenly felt like <removed> kicked in(IAFM runner valve opened permenantly, long short runner no switching due to actuator rosaked) 2) Got rattling sound below 4krpm. Car felt abslutely normal other than annoying rattling sound. Top end power dipped due to IAFM runner valve jammed, short runner permenantly kolos. Eric Goh fall on this category. 3) Purge valve KO, deter maximum combustion due to too much carbon stuck in the combustion chamber. However, make more sudden acceleration will help to blast out the deposits. Problem is, the purge valve will continue to deteriorate as every time sudden open/shut. In the end when no more tock tock tock sound(actuator totally koyaked), wanna idling also susah due to vacuum leak. For kes 1, can send to bawah pokok to disable IAFM actuator to prevent valve open/kolos in the future. Car will function exactly like a Gentut 1.3. Better FC on mid range cruising speed, but low end torque dip like mad. Kes 2, usually need a replacement, need confirmation from Eric Goh. However, got article from internet show some bawah pokok magician can poke open the valves and make it permenantly close, can choose to retain low end torque but suffer from top spid, or become kes 1 like old kampro without IAFM. Kes 3, get the canister purge valve replace |

QUOTE(V12Kompressor @ Aug 7 2014, 12:58 PM) the moment start yingine edi constant tak tak tak tak sound at no matter what speed I going. As for vibration... cant feel any...coz the car memang got too much vibration everywhere. pick up feels like the same. fc feels like same. top end... macam same. Tried using garden rubber hose jadi doctor can hear the tak tak tak sound comes from the runner valve switch side (alternator side), not the purge valve side. My kes is similar to yours, but kon9lan7fem is tappet noise |

QUOTE(THE CLASS OF 13 @ Aug 7 2014, 11:34 PM) guys any proper way to check front bearing condition? any other part can produce dengung sound like wunng wung wunngg...ady check wit my formen at first test drive he said memang bearing out but further check by spin front tyres and check whether gegar or not come out bearing is ok. rear bearing ok oso..could it be prada2 mia sound? doubt that but as the tyres wear out it can be the culprit right? Esoba rosaked/spring keras sangat, keta selalu lompat, jadik tayar surface makan tak seimbas. Selagi pakei 2~300km maciam tu, tayar sudah tidak bulat. Bila pusing, ade sentuh ada bunyik, tidak sentuh tiada bunyik. Lagi laju, frquency tukar, ma jadik "ngong ngong ngong ngong ngong" la. 2 jenis tayar senang jadik ini maciam, soft compound + hard compound. Falken mmg dalam kategori ini. Klu Parada Sepet 2, hang boley cuba antar kedai tayar, suh dia kasi pusing tayar tengok boley kasi tegak balik mana tayar surface yg tak makan. Nanti harap die sendiri cure balik. |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Aug 9 2014, 04:03 AM) All API SN certified EO have a minimum of 6.1 TBN (total base number) of additives. Exactly what additives ( Bookmarked if got money, most accurate method would be a virgin oil analysis. used oil analysis is ok too i guess. no money, can try pouring some of that oil on soot/sludge and see if it breaks down/disperse said soot/sludge i mean, oil analysis cost more than rm200, if the eo cost a lot less, doesn't seem quite worth it also can refer to a sample here: http://www.pqiamerica.com/2012%20April%20results/Amsoil.htm Despite how "awesome" signature series is, it isn't API certified because too much additives. requirement is 6, they easily had double that. my lab report come out 6.6 TBN remaining after 8500km of really hard driving on my amsoil signature series. why is that bad? environmental concerns. the irony is that those additives were there in the first place to encourage extreme/extended OCI periods which actually protects the environment. =edit= oh to correct my statement on TBN a little, i guess friction modifier would not be considered: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_Base_Number so generally, it would mean how much detergent/dispersal additives left in the EO |

His tires were oversized, never mind.... his rims were jutting out of the wheel arches, okay up to him, .. But both his back tyre( and front if i am not mistake) were all bent out in a crazy angle....i dont know what kind of style you call it but all the tyres was like bent at a 30 degree angle. From behind you would see both left and right tyres bent outwards 30 degress.... Really really crazy. I dont what that dude was trying achieve?? ![]() Hellacrap when road condition not allowed & posses threat when axle is fixed needed extra washer to extend wheels out ![]() |
