Gotta post a warning to you folks,

the new "sure root" method posted in XDA WILL VOID your warranty.

There's a Chinese guy (or Taiwanese, probably) who posted a 40MB root package for Kit Kat.

The problem is i'm unsure if

a) if it keeps our bootloader locked
b) if it works for WW (confirmed working for TW SKU)

You mean even asus root apk 1.3r that has been publicized now will trigger Asus's own "report to ASUS" software? If I recall correctly,
A) warranty void = no OTA update
B) warranty void if ASUS detects it to have bootlocker unlocked.
C) warranty will be void if ASUS detects that the device was rooted when a customer physically hands in the phone if it was rooted (there are ways to bypass this)

What I also know to be true
A) if you use ASUS's own bootloader unlocker, it will trigger a "bootloader checker" script that will make the phone report to ASUS that the bootloader was UNLOCKED using ASUS's own software (hence the reporting of SIM ID, user ID, product code, IMEI, etc for identification purposes)
B) ASUS has not released an official rooting apk (at least NOT for WW firmware, but I believe there's one for CN and TW, which also has same consequences for A, if you use the official root package)
C) The unofficial root package (most up to date version ROOT version 1.14r (not official from ASUS, and only for Jelly Bean firmware) does not report to ASUS that your phone has been rooted nor trigger ASUS's own "bootloader checker" script.
D) There are at least 2 bootloader unlocker, one from ASUS and another from the chinese/taiwanese guy.
Therefore, I don't seem to think, unless proven otherwise that if you use the 1.14r apk root up to Jelly Bean devices, the phone will not "dial" to ASUS.
