how much does a 50mm f2.8 prime lens cost and it is good for landscape photography? ( will mount with Canon 600D)

50mm on crop frame is tight, unless that is your preference to shot with 50mm, not really recommend prime lense for landscape if you not sure what you want

Hi all, need advice on whether should I purchase a prime lens for low light purposes? Currently I am using 550D with canon 15-85mm, overall it satisfies my needs as general purpose lens. But when it comes to low light I would like a larger aperture so that I can use a faster shutter speed as I do not always carry a tripod with me. As I am still a student, I do not have the budget for those expensive lenses. Currently I am looking at the canon 24mm f2.8 stm, 40mm f2.8 stm and 50mm f1.8 stm for general purpose low light shooting.. 50mm seems a bit too close up for aps-c camera, as I do not shoot portrait very often but it offers larger aperture.. Basically, I just use the camera when travelling..

Thanks!

your 15-85mm should come with IS. If you found with IS you still unable to capture the picture, wide aperture will even worse.

Hi guys,
I'm just wondering is it necessary to upgrade your camera body in order to take better pictures? some people encourage me to go for 5D mark III
I'm using Canon 700D with Sigma 35mm 1.4f Art lens btw.
*
then you ask them back, how changing body can take better picture, what is lack in you picture? how the full frame can improve or overcome that?
how about your self? do you think there is need to go for 5DM3? if you not sure, i would ask u to stick at your current gears.
u know how much cost of the 5Dm3? those ppl simply asking other to get the body without thinking much.

p/s: if you have enough water, no one will stop you going to 5Dm3 wink.gif

Sorry guys, i'm having a hard time digesting what are you trying to say.

munak991, what is back focusing? i do noticed that lens acts funny when it comes to focusing, i used 50mm 1.8f before, and it have the similar issues on focusing too, so i was wondering whether could be the body causing the problem?

regarding the test above, i assume that i need to set manual focus on shooting a set of slanting objects of given focal length, widest aperture(1.4f), and 1/100 shutter speed, am i right?

seriously i really got a lot to learn from photography.

u have to take in mind, when open your lens to wide aperture, the depth of field is very narrow, sometime is about 5mm only, slight shift of your camera will cause out of focus.

2nd is do AF adjustment, showing in this video, i not that sure 700D have this feature or not.

Anyone who used to use the Canon 450D and jumped to 70D? Looking to upgrade mainly due to the 450D's poor ISO noise levels which can be easily detected at 800, was wondering how the 70D's noise level is with ISO at higher settings?
*
there will be noise even at 70D, but that will not as bad as 450D.
keep in mind if you think to change body due to 'noise', better do proper comparison before u regret getting 70D, end up the noise still failed ur expection
