blush.gif  Tried the lens again for some reason it gets more accurate the more I use it.  Can't explain it.  Disabled the micro adjustments and it seems to find the focus point now.  Well if it starts getting problematic again I shoot some photos showing it.

So now I'm just leaving the lens be, keep on playing with it and hope it stays good or gets better.

The moment you start seeing errors (Err 99), it's time to sell it off or get it fixed...

I hope not.  I had lens error on my Tamron 17-50 vc that costed me RM 500,  more 1/3 the price of the lens to fix.  Was debating in my mind should I do it or just buy another one 2nd hand.  That is really gonna make me lose confidence in investing in more better lenses.

1 year passes by fast so no I did not have warranty for that Tamron.
*
My 50mm f/1.4 faced that issue too after a year +
The micro usm seems to be prone to failure.

And it was brand new without any focusing issues. I really took extra good care of it. Could had passed as brand new in box on aesthetics alone.

On another note, the sigma 50mm smooth coating non art is much better than the canon.
It's just that thing is a vacuum cleaner that sucks dust into the lens.

Took this picture while I was back in Gwangju (a city 4-km south of Seoul).

A bit hesitant whether to focus on the bird or the blossoms. Decided to focus on the blossoms near the bird anyway. tongue.gif

Nice pic!
But IMO, the branch in the foreground is a bit distracting....

Crop to fit the food nicely
Ya APS-C 50mm is awesome =)
35mm is good for long, involved 2-3 dishes
Hehe, ya. That's why u told me to be caution on FF, since 50mm on 7D i already find it so wide.
Hence 6D.... wider haha
*
85mm f/1.8 is one of the lens with a really high quality to price ratio.

Thanks! I agree on the foreground distraction tho. Do you think cropping it further to get the branch out of the way will improve the shot? hmm.gif
*
Nah, then it'll just be a zoomed in shot of a bird blocked by another branch.

Just keep in mind when going for your next shoot.

If only Canon followed Nikon with crop mode on their ff bodies.  Well I heard Nikon has such a mode.  And crop mode being able to use crop efs lenses will surely give buyers confidence to buy.  Instead of thinking that crop lenses become useless when upgrade to ff.

Crop mode is like having 2 prime lenses.
*
In practice, I don't use that crop mode that often.
It's really no different from cropping it later on the computer....

That's what i thought dslr and mirrorless... But if a6000 vs 700d so a6000 will diffintely come on top? So if your budget is 3-4k a6000 is a goog buy? If want 50mm prime, wideangle lens and a zoom lens maybe like 55-250? A6000 is still a good choice?
*
A6000 price is dropping quite a bit now.
Recently there was a sale on A6000 dual kit lens with Adobe Lightroom 6 for USD800.

My Sandisk extreme 32GB 120MB/s CF card just gave me some issues.

After an entire day of photoshoot for a prewedding no less, I came back to find all the files gone. Put in Camera and the camera won't even load lol.

Lucky the rescue pro software manage to restore all the images.
But darn it, not sure if it's Magic lantern(stable release), my camera or my card....

Same, i face this before...

my bro 7D, insert into the CF slot, take multiple photos, about 20 photos will corrupt and cannot read/write
have to use recovery tools to recover

When you took multiple photo, does it idicate any Err?
*
Had like 200+ shots.
No err.

Probably magic lantern.
Should not had immediately eject card after switching off.

Another attempt shots,

really dissapointed with my self.

1st my fried rice fail.
2nd i hardly know which angle to catch.
3rd after shooting few shots, then realize my chose of plate is wrong. and its too late to change...

Seems like im still far away to become food photgrapher, and stylist.

I say try using a plate instead?
Using a bowl with this focal length and angle is a lil tough.

Played with the Eos M3 and was sad to confirm that the video's ISO is maxed out at 3200.  Why Canon Why?  When Cameralabs said that it was maxed out like that I couldn't believe it.  I just had to see it for myself and am very disappointed.

I understand if they want to lock it up to 3200 by default, but there is no advance options to unlock and make it higher for video.  They should get a firmware update to give advance ISO settings.
*
I guess it doesn't have magic lantern support ?
Well above 3200 ISO would be really noisy....

hi everyone, can anyone here recommend me a lens to get, budget is around Rm2000, i dont mind second hand lens or third party. i want to use it for indoor photo (low light), portrait and landscape as well. current in my list is Used Canon 17-55mm f/2.8. any other alternative as well?
*
Which lens are you using now ?

Like what KayFX mention, I would recommend the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 lens
It's focal length is a little short (some portraits will be a bit difficult) and it doesn't have image stabilization, but otherwise it's a pretty good lens.

ok... i will consider it. its bokeh and sharpness is really nice but also really quite expensive. RM2600  sweat.gif
i am using Sigma 18-200 DC OS and also Canon 50mm f1.8 MKII. I not sure is my skill or the Sigma lens problem. when i use it, the picture is not that nice. so now thought to buy a new lens.
For the Sigma 18-35 f1.8, i done some research and i realize it is really nice, but a bit pricey for me
yup, i considered that too, but i thought to have a better lens so i no need to upgrade anymore (may be)  tongue.gif

Sigma 18-200 can be a little soft and is prone to distortion at certain focal lengths.
Of course there are more than sharpness, aberrations and distortions to a great photo... but if you're shooting in an indoor condition. A faster lens and/or a flash will help.

The Canon 17-55 f/2.8 IS lens is a good lens but isn't that more expensive than the sigma 18-35 f/1.8 lens ?
If you can afford a used 17-55, a used Sigma 18-35 should definitely be possible.

i see... sorry that i forgot to mention i found some people is selling used Canon 17-55. and because last time some people told me that Canon build quality is better, so i thought that if for Canon, i can buy a second hand. I not sure about the Sigma 18-35. i a bit worry it is not that reliable because my Sigma 18-200 is second hand unit and it had aperture faulty happened before.
*
On the contrary, canon 17-55 is known to have certain issues.

I'm using a sigma art lens as well.
It's pretty well build.

Been really busy, just dropping by to say hi and drop 2 cents

I've recently been employed full time in a role that includes a lot of travelling to rural areas and also attending functions and photographing them. I've been handed one D5200 and a D7000 with a SB600 and other la la cha cha accessories.

I have to say I am impressed with the camera, the d7000 to be exact, didn't have the chance to bring the other unit out for a spin. It is pretty forgiving for under and over exposing. So shows that canon shooters have to be more diligent and careful in exposing their frames. The bar is way towards the right or the left of the light meter and it still turns out fine.

Noise control is pretty awesome, I would say it is better than my 60d, i keep it at iso 3200 most the time

I don't know if its my unit problem or all nikon cameras are like that, the shutter seems so soft and lack the 'syok' snap snap feelings in your fingers when you press the button. Sometimes i accidentally snapped some pics while not intending to.

Dials are not as user friendly as canons but can get used to and build quality can be improved. I am having lose rubber parts on the cam. In case you need to know, on personal leisure or freelance work i shoot on a 20 and 60d and have owned a 1000 and 40 before. In no way am i saying whatever brand is best. It is really up to ones preference and skill sets and need.

KTHBAI, Back to process photo for work. Happy shooting and sharing
*
My sentiments as well after using the D600 I got from staff purchase. The noise control and dynamic range is pretty good.

Nikon is slowly moving towards making their own sensor though. Starting with the D4, they're planning to not be so reliable on Sony.

Recently done a pre-wedding shoot for my friend (due to circumstances, they had to forgo the original plan and request me to take for them)

I've never done a full blown pre-wedding shoot before.
So here's the album I've produced from that shoot.

Inputs and comments are very much appreciated.
Thanks guys !

wow nice from a newbie perspective ! how do u make all of the pic look kinda "misty" ? i believe PS technique ?
*
2 ways.
Getting it straight from camera and in photoshop.

Getting it straight from camera involves using a direct flash just right outside the field of view of the lens. Remove the hood and use a larger aperture.

Getting it in photoshop is via color efex pro 4, graduated fog.
