How does that affect lighting? Unless you're talking about strobes where aperture controls the flash output power.

Or are you talking about exposure? If so, then f/2.8 enables you to get 1 stop of more light which might mean you can get shallower DOF and faster shutter speed compared to f/4

I didn't login for a few days and whoooooa! I tot something was really hot for 6 pages in just over 3 days since I last checked. Turns out, it's due to this poll. smile.gif

Anyway, my opinion? Not a concern to me for merging. So... I''ll be joining the neutral party!

Btw, can you add me in to the F3 list?

it is only one stop difference. As for DOF - this is a wide to ultra wide. Achieving a shallow DOF is not likely your priority and it is not an attribute of lens in this category. What is important is when shot wide open. what is the level of sharpness at the edge 2 edge. That is where all your money goes (eg Nikkor 6mm f2.8 fish eye @ US$100k or even the 16mm f/8 Zeiss Hologon @ RM$5K ). for the 1018 I am happy with what it can deliver for that amount of money I have spent.. That is why I mention CZ is claim to be slightly better but I loose a lot of the other benefits. If shooting commercial then different story.. some customers may not accept. You can normally compensate to a certain level by sharpening.

Down at low light. I do not have issues either. Fast moving object may be just 1 stop out but if you are shooting at that critical line, it is likely 1 stop is not going to be much of any difference (one either lens) esp when you are using such wide angel.. This is not supertele or high resolution macro where even your hand touching the release button can cause enough vibration on the system to mess up a pix (static objects) if the shutter speed is slow eg 1/100 on a 400mm lens on a steady tripod. Most of the time wide and ultra wide will tolerate slower ... much slower shutter speed eg 1/15 sec and you can still get off with it on static objects.

That's common understanding of Direct Flash make the photo dull!!!
But when use it right like fill flash, off camera flash, etc... it really make all the different!!

I am a new a6000 user. I am also a nikon user. I acquired the a6000 mainly for travel. I just want to raise a question to where I can buy Metabones G in Penang so I can mount some of my nikkor lenses. Thanks in advance.

Confused, fill flash is direct flash ma?.... Or typo?

Han18: Direct flash is not dull/ulgy/bad if we know how to balance it(manually) with ambient.. for eg: Nex pop up slowsync flash mode helps a lot for indoor. The slower shutter speed will let the ambient creep in/overwrite the white flash on the skin.

Sometimes is not the flash intensity but the color of flash vs ambient color temp that cause the photo look harsh.
White white face vs yellow yellow background. So it felt like the flash too strong coz too white. Read up 'flash color gel' first...

My flash setup is with 1/2 cto gel fulltime. Day or night or indoor, the 1/2 cto give a nice tone to skin like a golden reflector.
