3rd station is not in Merchant Square anymore. It’s nearer to the Lebuh Bandar Utama bridge.

That location is so odd. It used to have a tamil school there with a huge land area. I wonder if prasarana is gonna build a park and ride there or a transit orientated hub..

yeah, this station will have a park and ride. But it is still an odd location to put a park and ride. For instance, you come to the station using Sprint Highway to drop or pick someone, then what? You have to go into Tropicana and make a big turn about through BU11 and BU12 to get back to the bridge and get stuck in the jam at the bridge?

Looks like it. Unless there will be another road built which links directly to the bridge like how it was 15 years ago before they demolished it.

Thanks belfong for sharing, where did you find the source on the change of location?

QUOTE(belfong @ Jun 17 2016, 03:38 PM)
So I don't understand why the change the location of Tropicana station from Merchant Square to where the Lebuh Bandar Utama bridge (aka Sony station bridge is). What is the reason? They don't like to put near Pakatan Rakyat office in Merchant Square biggrin.gif
I wrote in a little bit more detail here.

You can check my link here (http://ringgit.loopgit.com/2016/06/lrt3-an...ndar-utama.html) for the chronology and it even have a map of the old Merchant Sq station.

The new station is marked at lrt3.com.my.

Unlikely - I think they are easily 1km apart! Even including a car park, the stretch is just too long I think.

What about a bridge from the new proposed station next to bu11 to 1tech park?

You build a bridge over to 1Tech park to serve how many passengers? I think likely hood of people working in tech park is probably 2000 max? It doesn't make economic sense to build that bridge over. Besides, that road is a private road belong to See Hoy Chan and I doubt they will let cars go in to pick and drop passengers.

It makes a lot more sense to build the station near Merchant Square mainly because there is a commercial center there and there are at least two apartments building around that area. This, in comparison to building near Lebuh Bandar Utama bridge which serve, who? BU 11 residents?

Refer to the link, red color and blue color are platforms....whereby the green colors are the exit gateway to commercial center...make sense to Merchant Square

It actually doesn't make any sense to cater to bu11 residents.

Bro merchant sqaure is quite a dead commie area. It actually makes more sense to build a bridge linking to 1tech park as there will be a huge catchment for the office workers, kbu students and also centrepoint bu which is sought to be the central fnb and commercial hub of bandar utama.

Maybe they build here so that both merchant sqaure and 1tech park/kbu/centrepoint can benefit tgt?
