QUOTE(GameSky @ Jul 27 2014, 11:16 AM) only if your bootloader is unlocked or CHN ver..any attempt to flash to other rom will soft brick ur h3c oh I see. I'm currently using a Redmi 1S, saw it in the MiUi forum so I decided to ask here. hmm thamk you for answering? just curious there's no way to unlock the bootloader like how you do it with nexus and motorola phones?QUOTE(peet @ Jul 27 2014, 03:38 PM) (This post moved here because too many fan boys at the other thread and I am not interested in starting a war). FYI, I'm using a Redmi 1S.I am comparing 1s vs H3c. Price difference of RM80. 1s: Limited to choice of 4 languages (US/UK English, Malay & Chinese). 3c: Up to 44 international languages. 1s: When u switch to the "Lite Mode" (for old folks), the phone needs to re-start. 3c: Has a similar feature called "Simple". No need to restart. 1s: The capacitive touch buttons are not as sensitive or smooth. 3c: Pretty responsive for the price range and compared with 1s. (Mi3 is even more responsive among the 3 units, of course, but it's a diff price range). Note: This is subjective. 1s: 4.7" screen and slightly smaller but heavier. 3c: 5" screen yet lighter. Note: Again this is subjective. Some may actually like the heavier more "solid" feel. For me, I prefer something light in my pocket. 1s: 1 GB RAM. 3c: 2GB RAM. 1s: Front camera 1.6MP. 3c: Front camera 5 MP. And so on. I am not bashing 1s. I still think its good value for money and if I should play with it longer, I am sure there will be some features that are better than 3c... perhaps. But personally I would top up RM80 to get 3c because the one deciding factor for me is the choice of languages. Different folks may have diff needs. Hope the above info is useful for some of you. Cheers! IMHO, I do not agree with your Opinion on languages, capacitive buttons and RAM. 1) There are a lot more languages available if you flash a Global ROM. 2)Capacitive buttons sensitivity is just right. If its too sensitive, it might react to it when you touched it acciedentally while doing something, lets say playing a game or watching videos. 3) 1GB is more than enough if the OS has good RAM management. 2GB is useless if the apps does not run smooth. Anyways, I have to admit the latest Stable MIUI does not have good RAM management. But it will be fixed in MIUI v6/ Kitkat DO NOTE THIS IS ONLY MY HUMBLE OPINION I'm not keen on H3c because of the chipset. I will never use a device with MTK chip in it. |

For sure 1gb isn't enough… Otherwise u need to greenify everything… Imagine if u have fb, instagram, twitter, wasap, wechat, skype, viber, line, telegram, themes, etc… for sure u need more than 1gb ram… Why dun wan to use a device with mtk chipset on it ? Dun see anything wrong it… This post has been edited by sitescope: Jul 28 2014, 03:47 PM |

QUOTE(sitescope @ Jul 28 2014, 03:46 PM) Devices with MTK chipset are nightmares for developers as there is no full source available.Compiling for CM, AOSP, etc are almost impossible without the full source, even the publicly available kernel source cannot be compilied directly without comprehensive work. MediaTek does not complies with GPL rules and even charge OEM for kernel source, that's why many developers hate them and do not want to work for these devices. But i think russian site leaked the full source for KK recently, so things might change. |

H3C might come with mtk that's a nightmare for developers to work with, somehow even with the stock ROM, its already been very good IMO.
Certainly someone expect to get more performance out of this RM499 android phones but to me, its pretty much faultness. Certainly not for those who used to with Nexus devices where they can try several custom ROMs every days/weeks but as for mainstream users, Huawei did a really good job. At least I dun see the urgency as my Samsung Galaxy Grand friends who need custom ROM badly as stock ROM is so buggy. I have been supporters for Qualcomm chipsets for the last few years but this H3C does very well, especially in GPS where most MTK phones done badly. QUOTE(kamfoo @ Jul 28 2014, 04:26 PM) QUOTE(Anonymous34 @ Jul 28 2014, 04:51 PM) nope. Yes, Malaysia set is using global ROM. The same phone available to countries are differ by few bytes written to 0x1500000 on EMMC that defines their region/country by local provider or OEM. During the first boot, the ROM sets the default language, timezone, prebundled apps based on preset defined in /cust, but this preset is missing in EMUI ROMs. This post has been edited by SummerWind: Jul 28 2014, 06:09 PM |
