hey everyone, i was wondering if i were to travel to Tokyo on June.
would it be a good month?

based on pricing during that season(month) for accommodation and such.

what is the usual budget just to travel to Tokyo from KL without going with a tour and just walking about ourselves? more of a "backpack"-ish trip.
*
If you had googled around, you would have found out that June is a raining season. If you are ok with the rain, then should be no problem.

Came back from Kyoto last week. Was a last minute trip and was lucky to get a hotel and also shinkansen, a very early shinkansen though as its full with ppl balik kampung.
Was lucky that I miss the snow storm. Went to Kyoto during the Holidays and it was really jam pack with tourist especially the buses. At Kyoto station, you can see lots of people quieing to take buses. It will be better to take train as well, cause roads were jam as well......took about 20mins just to leave the vincinity of Kyoto Station.
*
I'm going to Kyoto on 13th Jan, so really hope the weather will be ok. The crowd should be lesser on that week hor compare to yours...

is it true that we must buy jr pass 3 month before travelling to japan?
im going to japan end of this march but havent bought it yet.
did u buy it from jtb? do they accept credit card?
*
sorry for my confusing post earlier. What I meant is once you buy the JR Pass, it is valid for 3 months. You can just buy it anytime from now on before you leave for Japan but better you buy it on early Feb. You can use credit card but they will charge 2% extra. And yes, I bought it from JTB, KL.

Hi RegentCID,

From here it says only temporary visitor are eligible for JR pass. But Malaysia is not in the list.

http://www.japan-rail-pass.com/common-ques...-visitor-status

Are you able to JR pass whilst visiting less than 14 days?

Thank you.
*
Malaysians can buy the JR pass. I just came back yesterday from Japan, 10days trip. No need visa. Buy the JR pass from JTB Malaysia in KL before you go to Japan.

gotemba u rent car?
u didnt took hakode/fuji pass?

and how is gotemba peace garden, from the maps i research... it look very far from the station
*
Yeah, Gotemba is quite far from Tokyo, 2 1/2 hours train from Tokyo. We changed our itinerary at the last minute when we saw the clear skies on that day....we took shinkanshen train to Shin-Fuji station which was like 70minutes only and we saw these beautiful view right outside the station exit...

My hubby hands itchy and wanna take photo from another view so we took a taxi to the nearest park and my hubby shot this from inside the taxi.....

So any trouble getting to Kamata by bus.
By the way, how long does it take you to clear the immigration/custom after you landed
*
No troubles at all. I went to the information counter to get clearer directions and I just had to go down and wait at bus stop no. 11.

Immigration, very fast and smooth. Flight landed at 10.20pm and 10.45pm, we were outside waiting for bus d smile.gif

Japan ...Extremely boring.  nth to sad.
Miss our malaysia Nasi Lemak & Teh Tarik more than any Japanese cusine.

RC, actually I didn't really enjoyed Tokyo. The best one was Takayama and Shirakawa-go, then Osaka followed by Kyoto.

Japanese cuisine...well they can be quite expensive in restaurants and I do agree that our local food actually tasted better...when we came back straight go eat bah kut teh jor laugh.gif

Takayama and Shirakawa-go..
The scenery there is just breathless, like out of a story book.
We also had open air bath onsen....damn perfect soaking in hotspring while watching the snow falling down and with the cool air......

haha 👋👋👋 good

plastic bag can... im planning to get ziploc... total wrapping
http://petapixel.com/2012/07/31/make-a-diy...g-a-ziploc-bag/
but this technique, still not solve the condensation problem
did he bundle with silica gel?
*
There wasn't really any condensation because it was cold there all the time. even when we went back indoors, it was still ok. My hubby said no need wor, just use plastic bag/shower cap and a rubber band to protect the camera from snow can liao. biggrin.gif

nice tips...
will be going to mt fuji, now very fong sum
thanx

mt fuji live view
http://www.town.fujikawaguchiko.lg.jp/ka/info.php?if_id=7

snow still very thick at mt fuji, lucky no snow at kawaguchiko thumbup.gif
*
aiyo, kawaguchiko there no snow one la. plus, you can't go to top of mt fuji at this time laugh.gif
Really, plastic bag cukup liao, save the money to buy more things there....haha
It's just that you find a more prettier plastic bag loh...my hubby just take any plastic bag he saw that day...haha

btw, before you go mt fuji, check the weather forecast first one day before. And not just tokyo's weather but also Shizuoka's weather. If forecast is partly cloudy, then I can tell you, chances are very low to see the mountain liao. You can change to other days d. But this is only if your intention to go there to take photo of mt fuji la. If you have other sightseeing plans there then ok loh.

Another thing is, early morning like 7am - 8am have higher chances to view the mountain. Cos that day I went, eventhough forecast was sunny, around 10am I can see some clouds blocking the mountain d but little bit only la. So if you want perfect view with no clouds at all, early morning the best wink.gif
