worst than KL. if u plan to visit the angkor at siem riep, bring a lot of shading. it could be so hot in the day, that u can't cover the whole afternoon.

beer is very cheap only $1. avoid street food, very dirty can get diarrhea. bring charcoal pills, their pharmacist and clinics r shitty.

bring US dollars. over there they got two prices, once they know u r foreigner which is obvious, they will charge u the foreigner rate.

there is a market in phnom penh, well known for their pirated goods, but the t-shirts are bad quality. Nothing special abt russian mkt. go see the S-21...then u will appreciate life in merehsia...

their mutton soup is dam delicious, if u dare u can try their fried grasshoppers.

Dont bother going to tonle sap...unless you want to be sap dried.

my hotel, air cond rosak...they move me to 3 to 4 other rooms, the air cond still rosak.

i send my laundry to wash...end up i receive 3 additional underwear from strangers...euuuuu

their pipu very blur blur one ah. some time ask them to do something, very vomit blood. 5am..outside my hotel room, i already hear the cambodians hon hon..yeah they like to hon one...their road all jam like hell...travel 10km need 2 hours. then when car coming..the pedestrian just gently walk to cross the street like they are king..car have to stop for them. motorbike, they try to cram 5 people sit on it...heck once i saw 12 people sit on one motorbike...they put a trailer behind the motorbike.

their wet market ah, better dun buy from there. when my company van pass one wet market...i saw the meat black color..ya know why? Because the black color are the flies that cover the meat...then the stray dog come the air liur all over the meat display..the hawker also dun care..thsi is why i so afraid to eat in their hawker stalls.

but they are very good in roasting pork...dam delicious. their rice quality is excellent. just be careful of some of their dishes. I once ate some kind of wierd cake..the canteen operator was selling...it taste like burn ants add with vinegar..the taste never got out of my mouth for days.

morning all the lady there like to walk in pyjamas...then put a lot of bedak on the face.

moment u walk out from ur hotel entrance, everybody come out to kacao u...ask u wanna go for massage lah? motorbikers ask u if u need a lift lah? tuk tuk ask u if u need a lift lah? Every time i come out i kena that, even when i walk two blocks away to the minimarket next to my hotel...they so stupid one...still wanna ask me if i wanna pay $2 to ride their bike. very harrassing lah.

I think pyjamas is a 2nd national costume....and travelling by bus takes too much time...I planned but cancelled and flew direct to Siem Reap instead.  By pass Phnom Penh.

i can't recall when is the raining season go check wikipedia lah. i was there two years ago...but i advice u better go during full sunshine.

their rain is worst than ours. when it pours it is like waterfall. then banjir everywhere. their infrastructure is horrible...rain sikit pun banjir.

some more the land very parch, not like our dense jungle, dusty roads and all, so when rain easily banjir.

phnom penh is between two gigantic rivers, mekong and one call tonle bassac (something like that, my khmer is a bit rusty)...so when rain they overflow.

take their taxi lah...6 hours ride.

very special one, somehow they can fit 4 people in the front with the driver.

Tonle Sap is deeper than any Malaysian river man. deepest in SEA.
and cambodia is dry. 'nuf said

this was yesterday. rain 1 hour already like that... rain continue for another 3 hour, whole town was flooded.



i am living in cambodia for the past 5 years already, some of the things people tell you here are over exaggerated but yes there are shitty times.

taxi is cheaper than tuk tuks for sure, they go on meters, all of them.

tuk tuk will chop you at every opportunity possible.

if in phnom penh can take taxi to the places of interest, not expensive and 24 hours.

some hotels are shitty and some are cheap and good, depend on which hotel you stay.

how many days will you be in phnom penh? if i am free might be able to bring you to some places to eat.

Sangker shouldn't be that deep. Cambodia is a dry country after all. Only Tonle Sap is something you should be afraid of.

Try to avoid all water transport during rainy seasons. Pretty extreme season there. Dry until sand everywhere by the road, and when it rains....

and i agree with duckhole. taxi is the best over there if u do not know how to speak their language or dun look like them. they love to chop us off. Luckily for us, i had a stepcousin who looks like a local (coz she's half Cambodian) and a stepmum who really can argue and speak their language. somewhat well-known around the tuk tuk drivers there alredi

look at it this way la: local taxi here, some chop tourists off, some are really honest
over there: chop = tuk tuks, honest: taxi's

depends....some tuk tuks will chop u off still coz u r a tourist, some will just charge cheap coz it's so near.
i still recommend tuk tuks tho. The taxi use US dollars for meter.

short distance taxi also cheaper, taxi charge $1 -2 only for short distance.

tuk tuk see you tourist, they want at least $5

got many places to cheong lo, several places i usually bring my friends go when they do come visit

The weather is very hot. Don't eat the food at the hawker or stalls.
Couldn't also trust their bottled water, because it might have contaminated.
Last time I went there, I had diarrhea. But maybe it was just me because the other people in that group seems ok.

If you're muslim, there are few halal restaurant operated by the malay.
But still their food taste weird. I almost havent got the appetite to eat anything there.

get ur hotel to hire the taxi for u...usually the hotel will make sure u won't get cheated.

these "taxis" don't have the taxi sign on them.

i will visit siem reap this coming sunday wif gf. i hire a local tour guide to bring us around. hopefully things turn up alright >.<

I just back from Siem Reap last saturday. Trip was awesome but the weather very hot in the afternoon. Sky was clear in the mornings and usually showers/cloudy in the evening. Managed to catch nice sunrise on all 5 days when i was there.

Oh if you're planning to go to The Haven, please make booking ahead. It was fully booked 2days when i went there. Food there was awesome 

i rather hv surcharge than to hire those taxis outside..who knows, after ward they kidnap you to somewhere.

It's not fine dining, just a restaurant. Foods are at reasonable prices. Try the Amok, it was very good. The pumpkin burger is damn good as well

then somewhere in the night some patrons were angry because they can't get the go go girls they wanted..one idiot lash out his pistol and fired into the air..

me and my pals ducked into the ground !

within seconds it was over..because the dudes fled

in cambodia, for the right price, if you want somebody to disappear..that person will disappear and polis will close one eye.

there was even an article about cambodian models who refuse to date some super rich minister disappear or got murdered in public.

that was in the old days...

now they still have the pistols but don't simply shoot already, too notorious police always catch the next day. even the prime minister's ex bodyguard leader or something also get caught.

murders and such all is in the old days already, now civilized.

also you are a tourist there, a nobody, nobody want to fucuk with you also... IF you don't find fault with people in the first place.

I work n lived there before lah.

a lot of people carry guns there without permit.

i got one cambodian colleague, he carry gun around, in weekends, he take us to one abandon paddy field, and we practice shooting.

i got one story, my msian co-worker's nephew travel to phnom penh to visit him, he went to disco until 3am..then he took the tuk tuk back to his hotel. Suddenly, one penyamun jump into the tuk tuk and pistol whip the tuk tuk driver...cause the tuk tuk to stop, then the penyamun point the gun at the nephew ask for all his money. Came back hotel wallet paspot semua hilang.

will be there from 12-15 Jul, solo trip, will be cycling around the temple.
