The reason to get T1/E1 service is because you want reliability and are willing to pay for it.

T1/E1 is not particularly fast (roughly the same speeds you can get with DSL from TM) but normally comes with a SLA guaranteeing certain levels of performance.

If you just want speed, you'll probably be better off getting a bunch of DSL lines.

T1 upwards are recently used by some university in our country. USM got 32Mbps. i heard that UPSI will get 45Mbps or something higher if not mistaken.

Sad, innit? My university had 45mb/s in 1988, before most of the USM students were even born. Last I heard they now have 3gb/s.

In other countries people have 45mb/s in their homes for RM100/month; here in Malaysia it has to be shared among 20,000 students.

I think T-1 connection (1.5Mbps) and ADSL (1.5Mbps) are different.
Speed is same but the connection is directed.

Aiya.. dont know how to explain.

Actually Malaysia do have E1 leased line. Check from TM, Mykris etc service provider etc.

Note that it's leased line not your home best effort line. It will cost several thousand per month.

For cc, i think a bunch of SDSL will do the job. But still leased line is the best if you are willing to pay the price.

Different technologies used, generally, ADSL is still using copper to connect to the nearest junction / exchange, DSLAM, from here, connect to the backbone. While T-1 which is usually less common here, E1 is more common tough, 2Mbps. Yea, both will go to different network cloud (different routes).

Yea, leased line almost can guarantee very HA, uptime and etc, the provider can lay a new cable (fibre) from your data centre to their nearest junction.

I'm using Streamyx for 6 years, my connection is always good, speed test always shows the bandwidth that i'm supposed to get. P2P is hard to just since it has been throttled. Ping time reasonable. So it's really depends on the location, maybe my location is not congested with alot of users, that's why.

That's why I don't think it has anything to do with TM backbone/backhaul capability.

If you are willing to pay TM for leased line, they can guarantee your QoS as much as you want it.

So, even if P1 W1MAX is riding on Fibercom, Fiberail, etc to TM gateway ... I don't see an issue ... since the backhaul is TM leased line but not RM88 Streamyx 1 Mbps package.
*

Yea, I guess some areas, the copper quality is very bad as we know, the distance to the nearest exchange and etc.

Yea, SDSL, same upstream and downstream speed, good enough for small cc, realibity wise and so on, leased line still the best, of course comes with the heavy price as you said.

We do not use T1 here in Malaysia, Singapore, HK and most of the Asean countries that I know of.

Here we use E1, which is 2mbps least line.

As far as I know, T1 only used in US... cool2.gif

If remmember well ex-company was using T3 many years ago... I think 45mbps if remember well. tongue.gif
