Basic T1 speed is at 1.5mpbs.. So we can actually "get" or "achieve" T1 speeds =D.
With 1.5mpbs++ (Adsl lol) |

get SDSL 1.5Mbps, equivalent to T1. Cost you around Rm1100 monthly.

I know Singapore provides upto 25mpbs and Australia also upto 25mbps(adsl2+), but I don't think Malaysia offers it (yet) or if so, at an affordable price.
Edit: Oh, doesn't streamyx have cybercafe plans? This post has been edited by enig.ma: Aug 14 2006, 09:02 PM |

If not mistaken i last heard that the coporation/enterprise plan has been upgraded to 4Mbps for the same price but the website doesn't state that. Go enquire around for more details.

there is enterprice out there using 45Mbps line or T3, but it cost around 5-6 digit a year.
not sure for the exact cost, any service provide have it but some time depend on area, you can get it for TM, TIMES, MAXIS, SINGTEL or NTT. these are the SP i met that are provided the services. This post has been edited by vkent: Aug 15 2006, 12:21 AM |

serious speaking, there is no T1 in Malaysia, as it is US standards.
Europe and coutries likeMalaysia uses E1 standard, which is around 2Mbps. My company currently running most E1 to branch offices, and Metro Ethernet that provides 100Mbps among main sites. |

duh, for satelite service you sure surfer for atleast 500ms for every packet u send.
if u need fast line why use satelite service. it recommeded for remote area or those area dun have the coverage of and SP. |

well, T1 upwards are offered in dedicated line. streamyx 2Mbps can't be equal to T1 as it is shared connections. u shared the line with other subscribers around your place. T1 is dedicated to u only and it will cost you so high. T1 upwards are recently used by some university in our country. USM got 32Mbps. i heard that UPSI will get 45Mbps or something higher if not mistaken.

At one time, only E1 (2.0Mbps) circuits are used in Malaysia but today I believe both T1 1(1.5Mbps) and E1 (2.0Mbps) are available. These are called Dedicated Leased Lines and available from Telekom. Mostly used by banks, hotels, large MNCs etc.
They're different from Streamyx because they are symmetrical (speed the same on download and upload) and offer better throughput than asymmetrical (download higher than upload) service. Traditional T1/E1 are serviced by copper lines. For higher speed, most likely they're fiber based -> eg. Metro Ethernet (10mbps or beyond), or OCx service. Be careful. Internet service and private WAN using T1/E1 are two different things. Getting T1/E1 to connect between two offices doesn't mean you've Internet access. You have to pay extra for Internet service port. This post has been edited by netfan: Aug 15 2006, 08:44 AM |
