Decided to share it here, DIY have help saved lots of money. Been cleaning 5 of my Daikin units for awhile, it's pretty easy and cost saving unless gas top up is needed, only then I'll call in the repairman. Below are some videos to guide you along. Ensure you know what you're doing to avoid damaging any parts. Second video shows you how to vacuum inner fan blade, removed obstructing plastic fins so as to reach further inwards. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQnWbEgTLnYhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6FoFikaSCMI will also get this filter because the holes for Daikin mesh is quite big thus a lot of dust/dirt can pass through. http://www.kimrovacstore.com/mitsubishi-el...lean-video.htmlThis post has been edited by Xccess: Mar 28 2017, 02:16 PM

QUOTE(foohoa @ Jun 21 2014, 02:45 PM) the biggest problem for me is the blower other is easy, just buy the aircond cleaner spray, spray it leave it 30 min then it will cleaning it Can you access the blower by removing the fins? Most moving parts can be removed, just need to know how to do it.

QUOTE(WaCKy-Angel @ Jun 21 2014, 03:07 PM) Nice share. My unit is behaving weird. The metals parts inside (behind the filters) are condensed and turned ice and it will melt causing water dripping. I found that the blower hole has less than 50% of air coming out which i believe somehow the fan inside is blowing the cold air to wrong place. Used torch light to see inside found the fan has alot of dusts stucked to it. Need to do some cleaning but kinda lazy and hard coz below aircond unit got a big cupboard blocking making hard to put ladder. Perhaps you can motivate yourself with the saving of RM130-RM150. I managed to vacuum away the dirt that was stuck in the blower. Air flow was smooth and strong after cleaning.

QUOTE(idoblu @ Jun 21 2014, 03:21 PM) thats what I like about the Daikin, can take out the fins to get to the blower usually this is the dirtiest part. Other brands, not sure.... if can DIY, can save Rm60 per aircon. Servicing cost around RM130 - RM150 per aircon, at least that's the rate from my repairman. One helluva savings.

QUOTE(idoblu @ Jun 21 2014, 03:43 PM) what do they do? My service person charges me Rm60 but that is to clean the indoor blower only, not the outside compressor. Actually Rm60 also expensive, I found another that charges only Rm25 for indoor blower and Rm140 for both indoor and outdoor. Mine includes chemical wash for compressor.

Finally found the filter cloth from Diaso, was there several weeks ago but ran out of stock. Cut cloth according to size of filter mesh then slot it back in place. Air flow not restricted and negligible. This will help filter more dust and dirt. This post has been edited by Xccess: Mar 28 2017, 02:18 PM

QUOTE(wdarke @ Jul 19 2014, 07:50 PM) I've been doing this since day 1. The blower still gets dirty after some time, but probably much lesser without the extra filter. In fact, I've been using the A/C every night for almost 4 years now, without engaging a professional service personnel. Just remember to change the filter from time to time because if it gets clogged you get reduced airflow. Yes, we can't totally stop dust from getting through, only to cut down and prolong the period before the next servicing. You must have saved a lot of money by doing own maintenance. QUOTE(wdarke @ Jul 19 2014, 10:06 PM) Well, at most we can reach the blowers. The condenser fins still need to be cleaned by the service personnel Even the dust accumulated on the blower fins can be difficult to remove. Vacuum alone is not enough. I had to use a small brush to dislodge the dirt. Quite time consuming. I'm washing the fins on condenser with a mixture of chemical solution after removing entire plastic casing and cleaning condenser plate at the same time, blow drainage pipe to clear any clogging debris. As for blower, can vacuum abt 90% of the dirt, it depends what model of aircon you are using, mine allowed easy access after removing most if the moving parts. A hard bristle brush is needed to clear dirt that's stuck on fan blade, it can get really messy. This post has been edited by Xccess: Mar 28 2017, 02:21 PM

QUOTE(haturaya @ Jul 20 2014, 09:48 AM) I've been doing this for a long time. Learn from aircond cleaner / technician that used to come and clean & service my office's aircond. Very easy job. I take about an hour or less. My home aircond have been working well ever since (more than 7 years) without any professional service done.. Lol....same here. Learnt from them while they doing all the washing. The only thing we cannot remove is the pipe for gas.

QUOTE(kimsim @ Jul 20 2014, 08:29 AM) Cool same like mine.. When from new installed until today, From my blower still using an extra filter, even the Aircon man nothing to said, they said like this case, if everyone to be the same, from their serving program would be cut down 80% ha ha. The 1st is aluminum fins didn't blocking on dust of the airflow still remain like new performance, just remember for change the filter on every month only. The link here: http://www.kimrovacstore.com/mitsubishi-el...lean-video.htmlDunno why your can't open Why I resort to doing this myself is because the repairman failed to clear the water outlet even with constant reminder, water leak barely 3 months after servicing. After doing my own maintenance, everything went well. For clearing dirt build up in pipe, I usually pour a big bowl of bleach and water mixture onto condenser plate, let it flow through the water outlet. As for cooling fins, I sprayed them with Mr. Muscle (Mold and Mildew), let the foam stay on for 10 mins before I rinse it off with water. Thanks for sharing the new link. QUOTE(wdarke @ Jul 20 2014, 11:25 PM) Do you have a huge plastic bag underneath when you rinse it off with water? Otherwise you have to dismantle the entire unit and bring it somewhere to clean. Nope, all these water will flow out through condenser plate, just have to pour it slowly to prevent over flow. Dismantling entire unit consist of disconnecting gas pipe, this can only be done by aircon repairman. This post has been edited by Xccess: Jul 21 2014, 01:08 AM

Replaced Daiso Aircon filter cloth few weeks ago, see the amount of dust and dirt trapped by the cloth. Overall I'm happy with the performance, cheap and useful. Without this filter, those dirt will get into the fan blade. Air flow not restricted in my opinion. Used filter cloth after 2 months - Left / New filter cloth for replacement - Right This post has been edited by Xccess: Oct 20 2014, 11:12 PM

QUOTE(Chigme @ Aug 6 2014, 10:05 PM) Sharing a facebook post by Paulyn Ong https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=101...&type=1&theaterWARNING: CROOK AND BULLY- VINCO Sales & Services Electrical and Aircon Services I was home alone when 2 technicians arrived. They cleaned my ac with just a cloth and took out the opening cover and filter to the toilet for washing (which is less than 10 mins job) and refilled my ac gas without my approval. Best thing is i asked for 1 to be clean and they cleaned 3 and told me after. I didnt want tell them off cuz again, its done and no point arguing over it especially when there r 2 of them When they invoiced me the amount, i nearly fell off the chair. I felt cornered and didnt wanna make a scene as i was home alone with these 2 men. it is ridiculously high and its not right to bully a home alone woman like this. I called the boss up later and complained about this, he gave me a discount of RM100 but i'm very unhappy with this and i told him to keep the balance as I'm bringing this forward to share with all my friends especially housewives or single women who might feel bullied by these kind of behaviour. If you want your aircon clean at max half the price, PM me. OR BETTER STILL DIY. Feel sorry for her. Hope have found a reliable repairman.

QUOTE(halcyon27 @ Oct 21 2014, 01:43 PM) Xcess, these filter sure runs out fast at Daiso. You must be buying them by the carton? Lol....I'm not the only one buying. When I first went there, it was out of stock too. Bought it on my second trip, only purchased 6-7 packs. You may want to try other branches.
