I thought this 24hr gym is very new, just opened in Malaysia? Are you sure it's the same one you are talking about?

AF BU8 had a pre-opening membership drive till Dec24. It was rm139nett + the fixed rm179 for keycard.

These Anytime Fitness franchise thing...not bad actually.
So far, after 2 weeks...i've pretty much become a gym rat

Once you sign up, you automatically have access to ALL other branches. No other additional cost lile other gyms. Really, anytime, anywhere qnd in anycountry too.

They use Precor equipment but for an additional rm50, you can get a Preva 'precor' wristband that doubles as a 'padlock' for your locker and as a 'key' to 'log in' when you start using the treadmill, ellips etc..

Pretty happy with this branch. TTDI branch coming up soon so I see myself gym hopping too.

I just joined anytime fitness recently having migrated over from FF so here's my take on the place after spending 2 days working out there. Do note that I am basing my observations comparing FF to anytime fitness. The gym is spacious, neat and clean and brightly lit(important since it is a 24hr place). The free weights area is takes up about 1/3 of the gym and this is where you will find the dumbells, plate loaded machines like chest press, rowing machines, bicep curl machine, leg press. There is also a smith machine and a powercage and benches ( 3 or 4 if I'm not wrong). There is however, no bench press and incline press rack! I guess you can do it in the power cage if you want. Weight Plates wise I think there are not as much if compared to FF, so if the place is crowded might have problem getting the plates you want. Dumbell wise, I think there is also only 1 set for a particular weight but I might be wrong, but I did have difficulty locating another set of the same weight when someone else was using it. And the gym was relatively empty. Ended up using the chrome plated ones that nobody seems to want to use. I was not really used to it because at FF there are plenty of plates and dumbells of the same weight lying around. Toilets are cubical type with the toilet bowl and shower all in one room ( like a hotel toilet). Lockers are situated near the toilets and you do need to pay RM50 to purchase the band that acts like a key. This band you can however use to set up your fitness goals at the treadmill machines (as if I ever use the machines). If you are worried about where to keep your stuff, there is a storage area (pigeon hole type) located at the front that is monitored by CCTV. I didn't want to risk loosing my stuff so I just paid for the band. I do notice that follow members just take their gym bags wherever they train and leave it by the side! There is one studio in the gym area used for whatever classes that might conduct and one free area where you find a punching bag for Muah Thai or just doing sit ups( quite spacious as well). You also have your usual treadmills, stepmasters and weight training machines. There is no towel service so you need to bring your own. No coffee, tea, 100plus served but there is a water cooler fountain so not to worry too much. The staffs are friendly and will happily offer to spot you without asking ( compared to FF where the staff suck!).
So here you go, if you are looking for a no frills gym, this is the one. If you are looking to do more talking than training, you can also come here since I realize the staff can also talk cock to you.if you want to sit around and hang out, the lounge area is not really big and there are no tv's, newspaper for you to enjoy. If you are looking for workout classes like combat, cycling, pilates, I think this place looses out compared to FF. Hope you guys find the information useful.

Thanks Capr1corn for the comprehensive review. No towels is a no no since it is pretty standard across all commercial gyms nowadays. Having shower and toilet bowl in the same room might cause a long queue during peak hours. So, how many toilets do they have? BTW, the review above is for which branch?

Staff will only be available from 6am-10pm.
No towels are provided as it will be hard to manage them without staff, but they will give you one towel when you joined.
They'll provide a necklace like item with security button for emergency purpose if you are lifting after the staffed hours (press the button and security guard will come to the rescue)

All my observations were based on the BU8 branch. I think the gym is staffed from 10am onwards as several times I have been there around 8am, I did not see any staff. Also it is not as heavily staffed as FF or CF. While I was there during staffed hours, I saw about 3 trainers there. I haven't tried out other branches yet as I was told you needed to wait for a month before your access card can be used at the other branches. I think before anyone signs up, it is good to give it a try and feel around. It is very different from the FF or CF kind of environment although not in a bad way. Hope my opinion helps.

True. They don't provide towels but will give you a pretty big face towel when you join and it's of good quality. You will also get a squeeze tumbler which is pretty good too. I purchased the rfid bracelet which can be used as a locker key and also sign in when you get on the treadmill because I like to keep track...and alang2 dah join for the year, might as well make the most out of it.

I have utilised the Mobile Preva app with my hp by scanning the QR codes on all the equipment. Tracks your workout, reps, weights and sets. Not bad since I like these gadgetry things. I joined AF BU8. The latest I entered the gym was at 11pm. Surprisingly, there are people working out, esp. at the weight and treadmill. There is no staff around as staff hours are up to 9pm. Yup..it's a no frills gym and I'm ok with it Come in, whack it out, go hard then go home

AFBU8 has 6 showers, 3 with toilet. No q for now p, may be bcoz members come in sporadically.

I heard that AF TTDI will be opening soon but nobody knows when I'm looking forward to have a few rounds there too.

I called them. It's RM159 now.

Just to double check. When u joined on the pre-sale. How much did u had to pay? Was first month? The rm180 key access or both?

RM 180 is just for the key and that amount is excluding your first month payment which is the amount you get from the Pre-sale.

For me, I nees to pay RM 180 for thr key and RM 150 for the March gym payment.

Im not sure about puchong price, but AF Puchong is one of the biggest AF Club in Malaysia and AF Solaris also quite big.

Normally i go to AF Oasis in Ara Damansara, really like the environment there, easy parking, nice staff, as for the price for all the club, do check on their website: http://anytimefitness.my/ (get their contact and call the club directly)

it's the other way around. pay 179 when u sign up during the presales, and membership starts when the gym opens.

qliq AF opens officially on April so i heard from Edward but it's opening in these few days after a lot of delays.

Few things i like about the gym so far , it is still not crowded and u are able to access any other clubs.. esp the crowded part.. been thru alot of fitness experience where members not only throwing weights around but also like to chit chat (hazardeous to physical and mental). At least here we get to advise them without any stupid expression on their face at least becoz its a new club, so segan wanna act like wiseguy. Beside that, u can still b able to eat ur dinner at 8pm and still go hit to the gym at 12 am anytime. timing ur meal and working out accordingly has always been 1 of the main issue for me. Oh another thing.. they are using good precor machine too. have internet free and also a better newer machine weight.. my only concern is not having Hammer Strength machine and not having a 2 sets of each, asside that hygine problem can be a potential disaster, u'll get a constant sweaty ppl 24hours . but theres alot of time to grow anyway. So i do recommend you guys to go checkout the fitness.
Now for term of contract.. they dont seems to have any highlighted issue on freezing.. apperently, my account i requested freezing option without any payment for "penalty" and they agreed. just need to provide supporting documents and all the crap. i was being explicit about it too. Just bare in mind that lockers they providing are not lockers.. its more like a square shelf so u stuf ur belonging there.. if u want a proper one u need to rent it.. i think its 50RM. not sure one time or a month.

I called up to check the rates as I was in fitness first and need to make a decision. They were so protective of their rates because other gyms might be spying on them.. So they say. But here ppl are talking bout their secret rates. And asked me to proceed to sign up wherever i m right now. Ur bapak punya gym issit?

Anyway, its really convenient as its walking distance. Wont mind if theres no towel. Still gonna sign up as its cheaper n nearer.

I got RM 159 for AF Damansara Perdana. AFAIK, their max rate is RM 180 with 1 year contract. Good gym, good environment and 24/7. Worth every penny.

Just wanted to check, is the Damansara Perada branch opened yet? Would like to try out there. How about parking? Where can I park?

It's open. Currently they have the last pre-sale member price for RM159 per month. For the parking, you can park at the Empire Damansara parking. It's a paid parking but not sure if it's free for gym user.

I just registered. The registration fee is around RM400++ include admin, key, initial payment. The price has increased a bit because of GST.

Monthly RM179, but I got RM169 since I'm a student. You need to persuade the consultant to lower the registration fee. I paid RM369 for 6 months contract.

If you want a cheaper price, wait for their promotions, they will waive a lot!!

This price seems very high given that there is no tower service, crappy toilet cubical, limited fitness classes and air-condition that is always turned down to save on electricity cost! For this price you are better off joining places like True fitness or celebrity fitness. FYI, my monthly fee is RM139.

Just happened to me where I cancel my membership 2 months ago, the staff ask me to give him the card and refuse to do the SOP of giving me a form to cancel, he claim that he will notify the branch manager to get back to me.

Knowing something wasn't right for sure (same tactics happen back in Melbourne where the staff never do cancellation and expect u to get trouble since they can draw from your credit card and all u can do is to lodge complaints via your bank or cancel your card), I had to report lost and get a new card replacement in order to cease them from drawing money from my card.

And today, after 2 1/2 months, they call me up and wonder why i never visit the gym, and claim they knew nothing about me cancelling the account. They urge me to go and sign the proper form for cancellation but I probably not going to turn up, knowing they will give u a lumpsum of amount to pay off by telling u that u still owe them since the cancellation isn't done.

Ricky300: I am from the BU8 branch.
If you ever consider cancelling your membership before the 1yr period, the penalty is that you need to pay up half of the remaining dues.ie: say you have 8 months left, you need to pay up 4 months of monthly fees in order for them to cancel your membership. This I can confirm as I was told by one of the staff working there.

If you ignore them and the amount still accumulate. Won't they take legal action to recover the amount? Or put you in CTOS

I went to AF recently after registered the 7 days free trial pass. After filling the form, they ask for RM190 (to buy the key) in order for me to access the gym for 7 days, else I can enjoy one day free trial only. Feel like I was cheated so I go for the one day free trial and say bye to AF.

I was wondering is the key refundable after 7 days? Just a question pops up from my mind today. 😕

Why didn't you ask them before?

Everyone need a key to enter the gym and since you are using the 7 days free trial, you need to 'purchase' that key and they will reimburse back to you once your 7 days trial finished.

Just wondering...what time do fellow members train? Since it is a 24 hour gym, anyone trained in the middle of the night b4? For me, the weirdest time I have been to the gym is around 5am.

For a 2-year contract it is RM149 + 6% GST. This one is from the Fiesta (Ampang) branch. I am going to join @ this branch.

Puchong branch has 2 packages, the one that need to pay monthly and the other one that pay lump sum. The lump sum package is slightly cheaper, for 6 months is RM151 per month while 12 month is RM140+ per month, you have to pay the whole sum in full. They also call the lump sum package "student" package, which they will offer to you no matter what your age group is, just to make you feel good.

fuuu...so expensive. since can enter whichever branch, better for you to look for branch that have cheaper rate and then access anywhere nearby your house. this is the better way.

Didn't ask if the key return policy is applicable for members too...was told that it is not refundable, but I can sell to another member (at a loss, I suppose) or keep it and use it again when I rejoin, even after 10 years later.

I think Anytime Fitness is a reputable company with business ethics, but one of the "consultant" is operating in some very dubious way to get new customers.

Initially he won't tell me about the 7 day free trial, just call me everyday to "remind" me of my appointment at the outlet to sign up, there wasn't any appointment agreed in the first place.

When I told him I will take up a trial which I read in the website, he said the offer earlier is no longer valid, because website is website and outlet is outlet, it's a company policy. Once you go through the website the original offer is void.

I became suspicious and told him I will think about it and sign up for trial next week, he asked for my IC and said I must register on that day for the trial or next month all the "promotions'' be different. Give him IC so he can create user and arrange for trainer bla bla bla, must give IC that day. So I left. Anyone else experienced the same?

Hello guys, can i ask for some advice, im 29 years old with 176cm tall n weight 96kg, i got lots of lemak at my belly n my perut also buncit. I also got athma problem, if i ran using my max speed more than 50meter i almost cant breath and i stop.

I like to change the way i am, i like to go to the gym, loose some fat n build my stamina, but i never been to the gym before, there is AF opening at kota damansara, so i would like to give my self a try, my question are, is there a staff member gonna assist or advice me on any workout exercise? Or i just balun whatever i know or pretend to know how to workout.

Or is there any other best affordable method or gym for newbies like me.

Always go over and have a look in the gym you intend to sign on. Have a visual of what if your training plan in there. Look at the bar, plates, dumbells, benches. Look at those machines if you are using. Go at 6-8pm to see the crowd. See if it is too crowded for you or the people there are those la la hai.

Besides anytime fitness, within 2 min drive there is another gym, 7 days fitness, which I personally think is very good. And their price is way cheaper. If I am not mistaken they are running promo for 610 for 1 year or so. I cannot remember for sure. No towel though. Bring your own. If you want towel and juice and newspaper and DVD, gym is not for you.

Currently, I am located at Taman Desa, KL. So, I am attached to Anytime Fitness Taman Desa. But still paying the same monthly fee shown as above. The New membership of this branch is RM 180 monthly if I am not mistaken.

I have paid the membership for this month (Dec, 2018) and I have ordered to freeze the membership starting from next month (Jan 2019). If you are the new owner of the membership, you can unfreeze anytime you want. You can use in any anytime fitness branch as well.
