Agree with you! With such financial burden one should choose form 6 , it is cheap and open a wide variety of choices-- ipta, ipts, singapore, uk unis. If one is good enough, scholarships are available if u got offer from top oversea unis!

If not mistaken, A levels is far more recognized by overseas uni. STPM graduates need to take extra entrance exam in overseas uni to prove their abilities.

But no doubt that STPM graduates can go anywhere in Malaysia though. But for IPTA, I heard that they only allocate 10-20% for STPM graduates, others all from Matriks or asasi. It's quite a cruel fact actually.

Hello, everyone!! I've some questions bout STPM retake.
If I get worse result in my retake exam than the previous one, which result will be taken into consideration when concluding the final grade? They'll juz look at my retake result, or they will juz choose based on the higher grade?
If says tat I've ald bought the pin no for retake exam and I would like to register one more subject last minute, is it possible for me to do tat?
Thx for ur advice!
*
They will pick the better result so don't worry.
Not possible. You are only entitled to one pin number for every retake.

Parents:
- Dad - Going to retired soon, due to company going to shut down, thanks to GST and bad business.
- Mom - Working with wages at small hardware shop.

- Brother : Parents need help pay my bro's car rent
- Sister : Doing Dentistry burning up thousands of ringgit in Indon.

Was thinking of doing A-Levels of escaping Pengajian Am due to my Bad Bahasa Malaysia essays.
because my karangan always get 8/25 during my trials at my school's Form 6. cry.gif

Now I don't know I can last in A-Levels anymore, need to cope with so many stress :/

If u hav been studying A-levels halfway, then isnt it a waste of time if u dun continue? U can follow d advice given by forumers here, like getting a 50% tuition grant, assuming u wan 2 further yr studies in SG. If u are adamant in pursuing a degree overseas, then I believe u can overcome d challenges in yr way. nod.gif BTW, what is your ambition?

Just asking: Are you a bursary/ scholarship holder?

You are going to face the same problem in STPM, and frankly speaking, the burden that you are facing in STPM is 10 times more than in A levels.

You shouldn't run away from your problem, because escaping it doesn't solve them. Instead, face it. This is important to score flying colours in any exams.

aiyyoohh....then if like dat, your plan very mistake already since early beginning....

your main problem is:Money... even talent students nowadays hard want to find scholarship to go abroad, and also in here... before choose the type of Pre-U, you should know liao on what you're going to do after your degree, plan out your road....

you aim to go overseas with recognised cert, such as A-level, SAM etc.....but, in middle of road, you have no money to get to study abroad, heck, even in middle of A-level also you are struggling......

but, if let's say you stay at stpm, you can still save a lot of money, even more when you don't go tuition.... in fact, just as exactly same as a- lvl cert, stpm cert is recognised in overseas, in ipts and also ipta!!! even if you don't have money to go abroad, you can study in ipts, and if ipts is a little harder in terms of cash, then you still got tiny chance to compete for a seat in ipta, win-win situation!!!!!!

you should just keep hang on, and move forward in your previously stpm,.....
*
The problem is, I have already planned out too many roads maps at first, and the deciding factor is A-Levels, where which branch, I will be headed to.
I was thinking of doing Engineering or IT(Programming) or psychiatrist.

When my family was financially okay. But until my dad's company was driven out of business now, this really hits me and my family hard.

Yes, I've join STPM, the life was quite flexible compared to now, I can manage my time wisely during my 1.5 months of testing.
But in A-Levels thanks to Transport and Big gaps in between classes my schedule is pushed behind real late...
I feel restless indeed.

Well look at it, I quit STPM already, means I won't have a proper chance of getting back to my old school studying it again.

I guess if your results and profile is good, you are recognize everywhere! Frankly speaking one can try singapore uni, they recognize stpm more than cambridge a level. To my info this year upcoming malaysian entering ntu consist of 90% stpm-ers if not mistaken! rclxms.gif

Hello, morning! Here again I've a doubt bout the grading system.
If I got AB-AA, ((4+2.67+4)÷3×0.8)+(4×0.2)=3.6453
Is the way I calc correct? And what grade it is? A- or B+, cuz if I didn't hear wrongly bout what my teacher said, once the CGPA has exceed the midpoint between two grades, it'll automatically be promoted to the higher grade. Anyone hav an idea bout it?

The final CGPA is not calculated by each paper's GPA, it's calculated by the aggregated marks of your three papers.

Meaning it is simply impossible for you to predict what final CGPA you will get based on your three terms result.

For the same combination of results, we have seen different final result. I have seen A A- A- that ends up as A, and also some that ends up as A

Nobody knows how MPM calculates it, but one thing for sure: adding up 3 sems GPA and divide them to get its average is definitely not the way as it fails to explain almost 50% of final results out there.

I think you have forgotten the coursework. tongue.gif Coursework contributes to 20% of your total marks. That's why their overall results will generally get better.

No, I did not forget coursework it just wasn't relevant to what my point was: you cannot calculate CGPA based on three terms GPA.

Now that you raise the issue, perhaps it's worth noting while coursework marks do improve your overall grade, it is still impossible for you to calculate what final grade you may obtain.

Even if you know your coursework mark, you still can't do the calculation because MPM does not get your final CGPA by adding up 4 papers and dividing them.

if your results is so-so , choose those non-RU . they might be far , but easier to get in..I heard those with CGPA more than 2.8 can get into engineering courses already

Took MUET Reading, Writing and Listening today. (July session) Here are my afterthoughts.

1) Reading:
Not very difficult. Hav 2 read and understand thoroughly. I read d questions before reading d passage, then tackled d questions.

2) Writing:
Insufficient time 2 write. Went back home and found out I did Question 2 wrongly (partially), bcause question asked whether I agreed or disagreed, whereas I answered in "Discuss" style, which means I wrote in both "agree" and "disagree" form. I shudve written in "Agree" or "Disagree" form fully. cry.gif

3) Listening:
Answered all questions. Did not leave any blanks. Couldnt catch some words in d recording bcause d speaker's bass was quite deep.

sigh... hav to move on frm MUET to focus on 3rd sem...

If it counts as consolation in any way, don't over think about the writing part. I've had classmates who fumbled and made blatant mistakes in their essays both in Part A and B. Still to their surprise, some of them scored a Band 4 and even to my surprise some even garnered a Band 5! shocking.gif But then, they did have mediocre marks on the other components though So I wouldn't worry too much and best of of luck in our Term 3 exams together rclxm9.gif

Don't worry too much about writing component. As long as you did not left off from topic that's enough.
I supposed that Speaking component is the hardest among the four?

Nervousness aside, Speaking wasnt dat difficult. If I were to choose d most difficult, it wud be Writing, bcause I had always needed 2 think for d contents (isi) of d essay.

Seeing d UPU results of my seniors made me realise dat it isnt easy to obtain d course dat u desire due 2 stiff competition. Most of them either didnt get d courses they wanted as their first choice, or didnt get accepted to d uni. of their choice.

Now, 3 more months to prepare till 3rd Sem + Ulangan exam starts. Hav 2 pull up my socks and hit d books to hv a chance of obtaining d course & uni. I wan.

Let's all aim for the stars!! icon_rolleyes.gif

Yeah just focus on the present. If you scored flying colors in STPM basically you can go anywhere. (If the economic problems has improved)
