Hi guys,
I know that maybe there are some topics regarding Fender Telecasters in this section but still, I would like to dedicate this topic to the Almighty Telecaster(other shapes are quite invincible too but oh well, we're talking about Telecaster here!)
My favourite Tele of all time is the Fender Japan TC72 Telecaster Custom with Maple Fretboard.
It comes with a neck humbucker pickup and single-coiled bridge pickup. Love the feel and craftsmanship of MIJ Fender although they could do a little something about the sound(lets say, better pickups and electronics?).
Well, thats my part!
Lets see what others think about Fender Teles?
IMO: Fender teles can be good metal axes, Tom Morello used them for the raging riffs of RATM xD
Peace! thumbup.gif

Exactly! This is the reason why I'm in love with teles!
They are versatile, they look good, we look good with them xD
Great photos btw.
Stephen Carpenter did a great job of transforming tele into a tool for metal riffing.

technically if one messes that much with a guitar (put hot pups, FR etc etc), all guitars are versatile.

this thread is fail without a blackguard

Do tell. You mean the japanese reissues right?
*
Yea.
Apparently, the americans kept the secret juice to themselves.
God knows what could happen to the americans when their japanese partner manages to dig the secret recipe out xD

i have an MIJ strat that is unbeaten since i bought it.

the prb with jap stuff IMHO is not the electronics, but they dont distinguish "standard models" and upper end models.
*
I really like the quality of MIJ guitars. Top notch craftsmanship.
Got an Edwards Akira sig and a fender tc72 here. Both of them are awesome axes.

Anyways, you one of the few who stated the product class problem in jap stuff. One uncle used to mention this to me and he proved it by using the Edwards and ESP comparison. Not sure why the japs blur the line between standard and upper end stuff @.@

I am a TELE Fan...and own 3 TELE's.

After trying a MIA Tele.... I stopped playing my MIA Strat for many years d. The Tele is a lot more powerful and very versatile. It made my 1997 Custom Shop American Classic Strat sound so like a whimp!

Mind you.... this is not the common MIA Strat... but a high end Custom Shop Strat...yet the common MIA Tele made mincemeat out of it.

High 5 mate!
Please make sure you chain your tele before it hurts anybody xD

Still, what's your preference in teles?

Ash or Alder?
Maple or Rosewood board?
single coil or wide range?
3 barrel saddle or 6?
string through or toploader?
*
For me, still the TC72 model aka the 1972 custom
Ash body with maple board (only maple, have this sorta maple fretboard fetish thing xD)
3 barrel saddle + string through
single coil at bridge and humbucker at neck.
As for the pickup choice, I'm still experimenting with some combinations here but I won't put rails for bridge and no emgs for the time being.
Guess that the tele I have now is sorta like my dream tele but I wish I could spend more time with it.

ibz let you know its basswood, you take a random guitarist off the street ask him "WHAT is...............the wood used in this japanese ST57?". chances are they tell u maple, alder, or ash only a small handful will say, basswood.

theres like a few entire lines of basswood fender japans, naturally a lot of folks dont like basswood when it comes to classics like this, its often hushed and silent.

My Custom Made TELECASTER. 21 tone Wiring JOE PERRY method. Steward Macdonald Golden Age Humbucker PUP. Coil Split.
3 Out of Phase tones too!
Maple Neck. Alder Body.

This is a very versatile BEast  rclxms.gif

It can sound like a traditional TELE cos the HB pup can be coil split to sound like singe coils....plus when I need more 'balls' ... I use the PUP in SERIES...whcih gives a truly super FAT/THICK
tone.
*
That is one heck of a guitar porn you got there!
Thanks for sharing your beast bro!

BTW, will go for your performance once summer break starts.

they were once the flagship of schecter if im not mistaken before the whole kena take over by ESP which started teh whole meta craze, PT basically is a signature guitar of pete townshend . if you could find the old ones, they are said to be a rare gem

these days as far as schecter goes, they are great guitars but due to their target market the thick necks might not appeal to the most devoted of shredders out there. dont know about the PT in particular but i hardly think most of them can be considered to be a tele.

then again the "tele" definition here and in many places are quite hollow, so erm ya
*
This is quite "knowledgy" xD
and yea, any tele shaped guitars are welcomes here so
flash them!

You will find only a handful of die hard TELE players in Malaysia. I am one of them.
Wished more people will look beyond the sommon Strat, Ibanez, Les Paul, SG and etc and give the mighty Tele a try.

Dont try those cheapo China made Tele's with 3rd class workmanship and 4th class wood. Pls Try MIA TELE or at least MIM Tele. It will surprise you just powerful a Tele is!
*
Agree. The local music scene encourages hard music and alternative music. Another thing is that most of the musicians have strained budget. This may explain why majority of them chose these more common guitars as these are more accessible to them. Plus, the versatility of Ibanez RGs too attracted loads of musicians with strained budget away from teles.
Just my 5 cents here.
Btw, I still like MIJ teles. I like the delicate feel of japanese made teles.

to be fair, theres only a handful of any player in msia. all main ibz aje

theres quite a few tele fans around here, this year itself 3 guys got new tele liao in lyn
*
Agree wit your statement regarding msian players. Most of my friends who play guitar tend to choose Ibanez for their versatility.
I used to be a kaki Ibanez but then the uncles around me introduced me to alotta guitars and voila!
Tele became my sweetheart.
Although Explorer and Iceman shaped guitars are also in the range of my fav guitar spectrum, Tele will still be my fav.
