when i arrived a kuih stall, all i know is telling the aunty seller, ni ni ni ni ni tapao.
i have difficulty naming them.
i only know ondeh ondeh cos thts my fav. kuih lapis & kuih kapit is the common festive kuih in cny n raya.
kuih talam and the other kuih tht is identical in green and white rice has another name - which i had no idea.
the rest of the kuih, i hanya tahu makan saja.

baulu is just like cakes but light texture- some are small and some are big like cupcakes. If you go to Eon subang jaya,in front of the entrance, there's stall selling kuih baulu.

i put some courtesy to look for 1 or 2 mentioned kuih images. apparently i felt i hadn't really try out the local kuih much.

the Gangster pudding -> lompat tikam -> the gangster looks damn nice. seems like pudding topped with gula melaka.

Normal Lompat Tikam look like this, i think your should be Hotel "Fine" version..

It's call tepung pelita.This wrap with banana leaf.
Another version is kuih tako. It's also square but made with pandan leaf. inside got bits of radish (sengkuang cina ). It's thai delicacies.
Between kuih tepung pelita and tako -tepung pelita is more creamy. Bottom layer is sugar and rice flour and upper layer is santan.

Kuih Suka Pukul - Kuih Lompang - i dont know why suka pukul ?



Kuih Dalam Zoo - Badak Berendam - this looks like my fav thai dessert, the one with colorful chewable balls.



Kuih Bangkit - OMG, i didn't know this is call kuih bangkit, i ate this alot during cny. I dont even know what is call in chinese.

kuih koci, the coconut is the filling, mix with gula melaka.
onde onde, the coconut is outside, and filling is pure gula melaka.
koci is also bigger in size

there are many style of making kuih.
there is steam and fried.
there are fillings, layers, coating, wrapping.
finale the shapes.

i think a lot of our local kuih are the steam variety.

Then you should try lepat labu..taste awesome!

i never seen this in the market. what does it taste.

vey99, i found tht our local kuih majorities are made with these 3 ingrediant, pandan, gula melaka, shreded coconut.
is just the variation of the amount of each ingredient placed and how it was prepared.

nowdays difficult to get kuih DAGAI...

however you want it to taste. it's basically flour, water and <main ingredient>. use shrimps, then it's called cucur udang. use anchovies, then cucur ikan bilis. use banana, then cucur pisang. those are the common ones. the shape, normally it doesn't look like that, some people just like to improvise.

about the kueh lompang. lompang is a negeri sembilan dialect for lempang. in english, 'slap'. get it?

dagai is hard to find. tedious to make.

halwa maskat falls under "kuih" category?

go to any bazar ramadhan..then u can see many type of kuih...

All i can get nowadays is dried and the gula melaka so little inside.
can't even pop in your mouth - tak SYOK langsung!
