Test drove the car today. Quite satisfied with the performance. The only thing I found weird is the position of the push start button. Now contemplating whether to buy or not

With the number of value for money cars on sale now, what would make you buy this car? Known for poor reliability (Renault), very few service centers, its ugly, specs are just average. Don't buy a car due to marketing and cheap offers, in the long run you'll get hit by high maintenance and I can bet RM1000 to whoever's willing that this car's resale value will be below RM 50k within 3 years. Srzly.

That's BS. My Renault isn't particularly unreliable, and the two we had before it weren't either. Parts are cheap. The SC is way more competent and better, not to mention not overcharging snd fair compared to other SC.

Also, if you say the Fluence is unreliable you say Nissan is unreliable, and that Nissan SC are rare and Nissan parts are overpriced.

It seems to me the car is something that you like or you don't! happy.gif

Any comments on the fuel consumption?

Nothing against Renault in particular, but there are so many good, value-for-money, higher spec cars on the market. To buy a Fluence at this price point is bending over backwards for a car that was specifically designed for lower-end developing markets.

rclxub.gif How is that? The Fluence, even before the price cuts, was on the lower end of what you'd pay for a C segment car (excluding local ones). Yet the specs are rather decent, with good safety specs. Add to that the sort of service that you'd get if you buy a Lexus and it seems like it is a really good offer.

Also it is still based on the Megane, a proper European C segment car. The Japanese competitors... not so much. The new Sylphy is sitting on the same platform as the Almera, AFAIK. Altis is not sold in Europe, for Europe they have got the better Auris. So the Fluence is indeed not (well, barely) sold in Europe, but the only reason is that Europeans don't buy C segment sedans. At all.

It would be nice if you could be more specific on the so call "good, value for money and high spec" same kind of cars currently available in Malaysia.

Ok let me do the job for you as a Xmas prezy.

1. Toyota Altis RM140K - Low spec aftermarket Navigation system with RM40k for the brand.

2. Honda Civic 2.0 Navi RM130K - same spec but RM30K more expensive.

3. Nissan Sylphy 1.8VL RM122K - no Navigation.

4. Hyundai Elantra 1.8 premium RM115K - Made in china Navigation. Ouch!

5. Kia Cerato 2.0 RM119K - Same as Hyundai with made in china Navigation system.

6. Proton Preve LE RM80K - Cheapest here. Not Xenon headlights and climate control with cheap build in Navigation. Build quality is an issue. You get what you pay for really.

7. Mazda 3 RM139K - Same as Toyota with RM40K premium just for the brand. But this is a very good car.

7. Peugeot & Citroen - I wouldn't even go there.

You got any suggestion?

this car now selling RM99,5000, i believe below than that can get easily.
but if intend to sale after few years, better don't buy because resale value is low.
in addition, under TC, don't expect too much, especially after sales / service...sucks!!

if u want a high spec car go look at hyundai i40. one class above all cars u mention above. 9 airbags, gdi engine, hill hold assist, electric seat, mostly everything included that u can find in a normal car. now year end sale can get below rm140k.

My experience with TC is good, and a couple of other Renault owners are happy too, including Fluence owners.

Fuel consumption is decent. highway is roughly 7L/100KM. city around 11-12L/100KM. fuel consumption is not the selling point of this car. safety features and comfort does.
