I have a question!! after malaysia go to Digital Broadcasting will Nationwide got 8tv frequency?Or specific areas??

The MCMC Slides for Planet Digital does have some insight on some of the channels to be included but probably that is just in planning.
Take a look at page 13 of the slide. Seems like Nickelodeon and National Geographic will be in there somewhere, and even Discovery, CNN & Bloomberg is shown there. Hopefully the change is for the better.

Sam Irvine of Freeview (NZ I believe) was also one of the presenter. Is that hinting that Freeview is linking up to be on Malaysian FTA TV?

I believe Astro will also free up some of their "FREE" channels for market capture purposes and maybe also jump in the bandwagon of their paid services through MYTV's DTT infrastructure. This will then open up more joint ventures between multinational networks (Asian, Europe, Oceania & not forgetting the US).
I foresee that we will definitely be spoilt for choices. I think the target dates will be pushed back some more as we can see in the slide for the 98% coverage seems to cover a lot of area particularly Sarawak, this will need a lot of investment $$$$$.

The project was planned to start in the East Coast. But knowing that the East Coast was very badly hit by the flood, I think there'll be another delay for the project.

Ahmad Shabery: Two million free digital TV set-top boxes for the needy

KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 — Two million units of the set-top box will be distributed free of charge to selected low-income households to enable them watch digital TV broadcast when the service is introduced, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the set-top box would be given to recipients of the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) and e-Kasih poverty-eradication programmes.

"The digital TV broadcast cannot be received by television sets which use the analogue system. Many people in the rural areas do not subscribe to the Astro service and, as such, they should be given assistance.

"One of the conditions agreed to between the suppliers and implementers of the (digital TV) service is the provision of the set-top box free of charge to enable this target group to receive the digital TV broadcast," he said when replying to a question from Datuk Abd Latiff Ahmad (BN-Mersing).

Abd Latiff had wanted to know whether the government would provide assistance or incentives to enable poor rural people to enjoy the digital TV broadcast when it is introduced. 

Ahmad Shabery said the introduction of the digital TV service was in keeping with the trend in global broadcasting that allowed for the use of the radio wave spectrum in a more optimal and efficient manner.

"This allows for the broadcast of more interactive programmes and better quality video broadcasts," he said.

The minister said digital TV transmission tests were expected to begin at the end of this month via the transmitting stations in Bukit Pelindung, Kuantan, in Pahang; Bukit Besar in Terengganu and Machang in Kelantan.

My zone will be next month hopefully but I don't have tuner. My TV can only tune DVB-T.
