1. Puncak Semangat Sdn Bhd (PSSB), the company controlled by Syed Mokhtar was awarded a 15-year concession by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to develop the Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) infrastructure and network facilities.
2. A total of two million Set-Top boxes (STB) will be given out free to the under privilege and the needy.
3. The recipients will be chosen from the E-Kaseh and the Bantuan Rakyat1Malaysia (BR1M) database. However, urban citizens are excluded.
4. Mohamed Redzwan said by June 17, 2016, 98 per cent of the Malaysian population will be able to migrate from analogue to the DTT system.
5. Current Astro subscribers need not to purchase another set-top box.
6. The transition from analogue to digital will begin from Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Sabah, Sarawak, Perlis, kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka dan Johor before reaching Selangor, Putrajaya and Klang Valley in the last phase.
7. Minister of Communication and Multimedia Ahmad Shabery Cheek said RTM will have seven channels on its platform and it can be used by Media Prime too.
8. Five services will eventually be offered, namely TV services, radio services, connected services (which includes catch-up TV, online games and video on-demand, amongst others), t-commerce (television commerce) and soft services (e-learning applications, SMS voting, etc).
9. China Press reported that the analogue transmission system in Malaysia will be shut down in June 2016. There will be 30 channels at the beginning, including 9 HD channels.
10. MyTV, a special purpose vehicle set up by Puncak Semangat Sdn Bhd, said five core services for the digital terrestrial television (DTT) switchover will be launched in Q2 2015.
11. The Edge Malaysia reported that Malaysia will be adopting DVB-T2 technology for its digital television services. The initial migration to digital will be for government-owned and private stations, namely TV1,TV2, TV3, ntv7, 8TV, TV9, TV Al-Hijrah and Bernama TV.
12. The Sun quoted Multimedia and Communications Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek as saying that DTTB project is expected to be completed and implemented by 2017.
13. MyTV plans to introduce 30 channels initially, followed by another 30 channels over the next two years. By the end of 2019, it will have a total 80 channels on its platform, according to the company.
14. Currently, MyTV is talking to many content owners, business owners and brands, to try and convince them to launch their own channels on its platform.
15. On 7/4/2015, Ahmad Shabery Cheek said DTTB tests were expected to begin at the end of April via the transmitting stations in Bukit Pelindung, Kuantan, in Pahang; Bukit Besar in Terengganu and Machang in Kelantan.
16. On 4/7/2015, the minister announced that digital television services will be available across the country by the end of next year.
