Hello guys, I's not sure whether this is a correct thread to ask this.

Between mirrorless and DSLR, which one is the best in term of :

1)Ergonomic (Big body is tougher and better?)
2)Picture quality( Will focal length affects picture quality?)
3)Long term usage (future proof or not?)
4)Ability to fit several occassions (weddings, jungle, etc)

I've read several blogs but I'm still clueless on which camera should I get since most of the blogs did not state clear conclusions on which camera is better. Used to own a DSLR (Canon 1100D) but not mirrorless so I do not know bout its picture quality. Some of the blog stated that mirrorless is for people who want style over quality which means its small and compact size are the main characteristics that they are looking for.

So, I really hope that someone could give me some advice regarding which camera is better.
To be honest, I will just invest not more than rm1500 as a kickstart for my baby camera.
Your help is much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

There isn't much to consider with just less than RM1.5k budget. You can only get beginner camera with this money. So lets not think that the camera will be super good and perfect for what it is.

If budget allows, save up more and get something better. A low end camera will phase out really quick so the value drops a lot as well. Not to mention they are generally equipped with basic specifications only.

Thank you for your reply mate. Well it is just my estimated budget though. Do you have any recommendation on which camera should I aim for?
Just for leisure time taking photos of my friends hanging out, some macro of random things, something like that. Canon 600D sounds good?

it's good for what you are planning to shoot. But as a dslr, it will never be as convenient to bring around as a mirrorless/ phone. so if you are planning to bring the camera around, a mirrorless will be good.

Other than having small body for mirrorless, is there any other advantage over DSLR?

That's the main advantage imo. I cant really tell any other advantage since I don't really need them when choosing between DSLR and mirrorless.

image quality is not something that you need to prioritize when choosing a camera as beginner. nowadays even phone can produce good enough quality pictures, the main factor is how you use it.

these days beginner DSLRs & current mirrorless cameras can get pretty decent images, but it will really depend on the user too. I would say 600D and your 1100D, you wouldn't feel a big difference between the two..

big body doesn't mean it's tougher..got pros and cons, big body may FEEL tougher, but it's more difficult to carry around than a mirrorless/compact..believe me I've been using DSLR system for more than 6 years..just dumped my entire system for mirrorless a few months ago.

I would recommend fuji x system as I'm using it now and I really love it laugh.gif . you can take a look at the XA-1 or X20..both around your budget I guess..

I think for Rm 1500, you can get the Canon S100 tongue.gif . Maybe there is a newer model S110 or sumthing. hmm.gif

Yup Fuji is good. Very light camera, pics are nice. I like the film simulation wub.gif . The only downside is the AF, but perhaps the newer models have faster AF. hmm.gif

Wow so you are saying that mirrorless could capture the same quality images as DSLR? dang, this really makes me confused. hahaha

depends what lens you are looking for..1.3k-1.4k can find a fuji 35mm f1.4..canon's equivalent is about 4k I believe..of course it's not the same but it's a cheaper way to experience 1.4 with no compromise to IQ..build quality is good too
