QUOTE(rcr @ Jun 2 2014, 12:21 AM) erm.. how should i say it.. did you try to read up the article we posted? http://en.miui.com/thread-22383-1-1.html 0.3mm is the thickness of the glass, not the type of the glass. Or should i say, USD1 and RM1 is both 1, does it makes them the same value? Or eating a steak in a kopitiam and a 5 star hotel, do you pay for the same price or do u think the quality is the same? The fact is, most manufacturer wont even bother to use Corning because, corning glass itself cost higher than their selling price of nillkin H+. Otherwise, why do you think even without middle man, mi3 still selling at RM900? and as most of us knows, the glass screen is one of the most expensive apart from the board. And mi3 is using Corning Gorilla Glass. Hope this explain better. but we would really suggest you to read the article to have the basic understanding of the different type of sp.. and for glass sp too.. Tempered Glass Screen Protector What is tempered glass? It's a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the inner surfaces into tension. Such stresses cause the glass, when broken, to crumble into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury. Corning Gorilla Glass protector for Galaxy S5 by imos Taiwan A tempered glass screen protector is highly demanded type of screen protector in recent days. Many has chose to use the tempered glass screen protector for a few reasons, mainly Oleophobic coating to reduce fingerprint marks, stains better protection against drops and impacts everyone using it now, so I must use it too every seller recommend it and many more creative and innovative sales talk While I don't denied the protection is better than a normal PET film, I do have some reserves against the other claims. For instance, I did try comparing an OEM tempered glass screen protector oleophobic coating with a PET film oleophobic coated screen protector and finds that the effect is better on the PET film. This shows that not all glass screen protector are better than an oleophobic PET film. There are few sub types of tempered glass in the market. Soda lime glass Gorilla glass Asahi Glass Soda lime glass Most widely available in the market due to many factory around the world is offering OEM for it. You can differentiate a soda lime glass by looking at the side of the glass. You can see green or blue color on it. It's the least expensive type and many resellers are selling it in the market. However, a lot of the company/reseller took advantage of the limited knowledge of consumers by offering misleading information to them. Among those commonly found misleading information includes: SCRATCH proof EXPLOSION proof FINGERPRINTS & STAINS proof MADE FROM GORILLA GLASS MADE FROM ASAHI GLASS The reason I said it's misleading consumers are, there are currently no screen protector which is scratch proof. The next time you are going to buy a screen protector, bring a piece of sandpaper with you. If a seller tells you that it's scratch proof, use the sandpaper and try scratching it and you will know if it's really as it claims. And if it does, do share with me the brand of the sp, I would like to have it for all my devices too. On "explosion" proof? How are they going to proof it? Setup a C4 on the phone? Fingerprints and stains proof? Ok, with most tempered glass sp coated with the oleophobic coating, it helps a lot in reducing the stains but for those with sweaty palm and oily hand, you might still have minimal stains on it. As for the MADE FROM GORILLA GLASS and ASAHI GLASS claim, with the price that they are selling, it's hard to believe its made of the 2 most reputable glass provider in the world. Ask them of the proof and none will able to provide to you. And from the packing, if it doesn't mentioned anything about Gorilla Glass or Asahi Glass, just take it as a normal soda lime glass. Gorilla Glass Probably the best in the industry. With Corning being responsible for more than 33 brands for mobile devices screen, the corning gorilla glass is the world's most trusted protection with bulk of features and better protection. It offers more than twice the durability compare to a soda lime glass. As for their claim on superiority, this is the one that I find most impressive. With almost all the major brand in mobile devices industry using Corning Gorilla Glass as their preferred screen, I see no other reason why it's not the best in the industry. I might be wrong about their quality, but I doubt the giants such as Apple, Samsung, HTC, LG, Xiaomi and others are wrong. Now the question is, how do we differentiate between gorilla glass and soda lime glass? As mentioned earlier, on soda lime glass, you can see the green or blue color on the side. For Corning Gorilla Glass, it's clear, transparent glass on all sides. Asahi Glass Another big shot in the glass industry. Asahi is from Japan and we knows Japanese is one of the most hardworking group. We also knows Japanese companies always comes with quality product. Same goes with Asahi. In 2013, Asahi Glass Corportation (AGC) announced their Dragontail tempered glass. Said to be even stronger then the Corning gorilla glass 2, the Dragontail is one of the main competitor for Corning. Unfortunately, there aren't any news that any screen protector are made from Dragontail glass. If you come across any, do share with me, I would like to get to know more from the company. Conclusion: I hope with this lengthy article, it will helps you to know more about screen protectors. It's up to you to choose on which type to apply on your phone but at least you made the right choice based on the correct information. Due to the high competition in the market, it's normal for resellers to try their best to use creative and innovative statements to convince you to buy from them. If you are not prepared, then you are the one to be blamed for being a victim. |

QUOTE(zhiyuanchan @ Jun 2 2014, 12:40 AM) Walau eh bro , I really salute for explaination. It's very clear and useful. to us, profit comes after quality.. we used to sell those oem china brand too so we know how much is the margin.. but to tell u the truth, customers feedback on those are really poor.. and worse, when i use the product myself, i can't even say its good.. how i dare to tell customer its good? if i did, means I lied to them.. and lying to customers in business is fatal. Short term perhaps if a student wanted to earn quick bucks, but for business owners, i think most will understand that for a business to be successful, u need to get trust from your customers, and in order to get it, u have to earn it hard. Accurate info, good customer service, fast service, and so on.. Good and kind seller anyway. Profit not the one you aimed , customer happy than you more happy. +1000 for you. Thats y we insist the guinea pig must be us, n not our customers.. n most important, sharing is caring.. well, back to topic then.. while i didn't use mi3, but recommended a lot of my samsung users friends (close friends to switch) and they are so happy with it.. but the xiaomi sp seems difficult to apply, most of them screw up the installation, both the tester and the actual sp. Is that really hard to apply? i bought one along with the pb so i can try it and compare.. |

Yea, it's quite hard apply , first day i get Mi3 and i go friend shop to apply normal Diamond one, friend everyday apply SP one, also said Mi3 abit hard to apply , and due factory cutting size abit not accurate. Than yesterday just get XiaoMi official Clear Sp by sister from TW , cuz she bought than Mi Earphone and need add another RM10 for free postage. I try to apply , it's hard apply compare to other phone , and while top hole accurate , but bottom side abit sengek. Edit: Anyway official SP from xiaomi quality is not bad compared to other normal SP. This post has been edited by zhiyuanchan: Jun 2 2014, 01:01 AM |

Shall tried it tomorrow when my Corning arrives.. Got 3 Cod with installation appointment.. Hehe.. I do agree with he challenges when the sp is not cut properly.. That's also one of the reason we chose IMOS. It's the only brand that use laser to cut instead of knife. When they first adapt to the technology, a lot says it's overkill... Use laser to cut sp... But now, most ppl appreciate that since the margin of misaligned using laser cut is less than 0.01mm. |

Corning is actually suitable to build screen, but not good for build screen protector actually. The mainly reason due to its thickness against its flexibility. For SP, you would look for minimum 45 degree point of spinning the SP, which Corning can do around 45 degree but not more. For Lime Glass or someone called it cow paper glass, it is flexible to 90 degree. Of course as above explanation is also valid. But from what I know of, except for the price, I think this is another reason for why it is not widely used in SP and also due to this reason, the price for Corning type's SP are higher price(But just because they are rare and also export from some western countries or US).
Personally I think normal SP is good enough as the screen itself really protect a lot, but still I opt for good tempered glass SP is to maintain less fingerprint compare to normal clear sp. And also a water proof reason. Because Corning has a main issue, if you continue to have water spray on the screen the color is easy to change to dark yellow and affect the shapeness. |

I want a SP which is Crystal Clear + Anti Finger print + (not so easy to be scratch), any suggestion ?
Another thing is, why need Corning Glass SP, our phone already came with Corning Glass 2 and why still need another layer on top?? not make sense right? I did like to use the phone without any SP, just the finger print is too annoying now I am using Anti-Glare SP, the screen PPI is like 200+ standard This post has been edited by baowen: Jun 2 2014, 02:22 AM |

But still cost RM3x. |
