Guys, I'm in bangkok right now and thinking of going to rot fair market. The road to go there seems complicated, anyone familiar with actual routing and what transport to take?
*
if u mean talad rot fai (train night market), then just take the MRT line at stop at Thailand Cultural Center station. Take exit 3, turn left and u will see a mall. Now u can either walk around the mall as the market is behind the mall or u can walk into the mall and take 1 of the exit at the middle. Either way u will reach the market.

I've been to Amphawa market, pretty big and decent and not mention packed with locals. It is meant for locals than tourists although more are going there now. Not many there speaks English or have English translation of the food and wares they are selling so you might have to do some body language. If you're adventurous, you can go there and explore.

For me I'd say worth visiting for more authentic of floating market, you can also visit the train market which is quite near. Usually a day's trip.

i've done some reading on these 2 markets.

generally Damnoen for tourist, so the food + souvenirs all marked up. Amphawa more for locals.

Amphawa is also special because its only on fri-sunday, afternoon-night. to get to Amphawa, go to Victory Monument BTS, and take minivan to Amphawa market (80baht - one way). smile.gif

another thing, you can go to Maeklong Railway Market (google for the reviews n images) first, its 70Baht from Victory Monument, buy minivan tickets from booth too.

then from Maeklong can go Amphawa for 8baht only , 10mins away flex.gif so u can spend morning/noon at Maeklong, and noon/night at Amphawa.

Take note that the last minivan back to bangkok from Amphawa is 8PM!
