So I have been going through some research and the Samsung Odyssey G5 is at RM1208 while the Asus TUF VG27AQ1A is at RM1488. Would I be missing out a lot if I decided to purchase the Samsung panel? My target is 1440p 144hz.

I almost went for the MSI MAG274QRF-QD, but read about the heavy oversaturated colours requiring software calibration, so opted for Dell instead
if I had known June only got stock would have just grab LG 27GL850   

Do remember 165hz will reduce the color output as most is overclock mode.
Unless the model is not overclock mode then it is ok.

When using 165hz, you cannot set RGB 10 bit but instead RGB 8 bit only.
You do can set YCbCr 422 in 10 bit but that setting color never nice compare with RGB 10 bit.

144hz is far than enough IMO, how many games you can hit 165fps in 1440p resolution.

Hahaha! In this case maybe just wait for 2021 release monitor.
Or if not hurry, wait till 2022 as this year due to COVID-19, nothing much new is release also.

just received my Dell S2721DGF today, a quick check on Dell's website shows that it comes with Dell's 3 years Advanced Exchange Support and it's manufactured in December 2020

I'm feeling a bit doubtful here since craxors said he called Dell and Dell confirmed no stock, takut it might be a refurbished unit 
but everything I check with shows it's a brand new unit, maybe I'm thinking too much

I'm eyeing on either the Acer XV272U or the AOC Q27G2s for the RM1.3k price range.

I haven't found a solid review on the Acer, so it's a bit hard to tell if it's good vs the AOC. But the AOC according to Hardware Unboxed's review seems pretty solid, as long as you keep the refresh to 120Hz to enable the 10 bit color feature, and overdrive Medium. However having deep blacks sounds good, because it'll stand beside the 1500:1 contrast ratio of my 24G2. Don't want it to look bad beside a 1080p monitor lol.

Does anyone had a similar decision before this?

From what I saw, the Dell is better right?
- Superior contrast ratio (850+:1 vs 750+:1)
- Has local dimming if you enable HRD vs no (According to RTings review anyway)
- Better stand ergonomics, LG can't swivel left/right

To make it easier. Choose the brand you more prefer. You won’t feel happy if the brand is not the one you always prefer.

Both is good brand, won’t go wrong either.
