After Much contemplation, I finally got myself the Asus RT-N56U, and I'd say definitely no regrets! The dual band is great!

Howevee  I noticed that the 5G band has a poorer connectio  the signal isn't as strong as thay on the 2.4G band.

Anyone else experiencing this on their N56U?

Thanks!

I got my rt-n56 after my rt-n16 dead, and asus replace with it. So far I use it for AP only (since during rma, I brought a mikrotik)
The device get hot really easy so I suggest to put the router on well ventilated room rclxms.gif

So unifi technicians installed a lot of those around my area about 3 weeks ago, Does anyone know how long will it take them to offer me unifi/streamyx? They still haven't updated their database.
*

No use one lah report to Unifi support team. Report directly to MCMC action taken faster.

There's step before you make a report to MCMC. If there's not action taken or unsatisfied feedback received, then I will take a further step. No need rush biggrin.gif

Question, why use vyprvpn? I thought the paid version is like 20USD a month or something... isnt there a cheaper alternative with decent performance that costs less ?
Or are you using the free Trial? What happens after the trial then...
*
free trial of course hehe laugh.gif
give 3 days. after that, cancel the service sweat.gif

QUOTE(maxee @ Sep 24 2014, 08:36 AM)
i know how fiber works.
the problem is my unifi always down during raining and dead for a day until the next day.
*
Try to ask your neighbor whether they also affected in same case as your. If yes, then the fiber termination in your place got something error like water came in or etc.

If not, there must something happen. Are you live in high rise or terrace or bungalo ?

QUOTE(lkcheng @ Sep 24 2014, 03:36 PM)
During raining, I can't surf smoothly usually. I will turn off and on again after 20 minutes the rain stops and it will work fine.

If you are using the white modem and orange white router, it probably is the modem or router problem, I think you need to change your modem and router.  These equipment are very low quality, that's why they give free.

The new version of silver modem and router provided by TM is better. But still the line will be affected during raining.
*
This is weird. How come the rain could effect the stability of router sweat.gif .

I always report to TM and request technicians when problem. They will do the checking. After a few time coming to my house, they finally solve my issue which is changing all the equipment (Modem and Router). What I can tell you based on my experience is the new silver modem works better.

If you just need to browse local websites only, the old white modem probably work OK. But if need to visit foreign websites daily, then you need a better modem.

However until today during raining my Internet browsing would be affected. But after the rain stops, thing will be recovered. I have asked the technicians, they can't explain it also.
*
okay, I can use your problem statement in my next research. Probaly I could conclude something in future on my research wink.gif

I dont know, but I also experience some sort of delay when using fb, twit and youtube. image at twiter load slow than usually, same goes to instagram. When using maxis 4g, the connection seems better than unifi.
Already restart the router and so on.
Something going now?

Spent about half an hour just browsing eBay and Amazon during raining. It definitely affects the speed during raining even with new modem and router. Cannot finish loading pages. Have asked the technician about this issue before, they can't answer it.

Don't post any fiber optic light transmission article in reply. People know Fiber optic can't be affected during raining, the experienced  technician knew about it also. There were other aspects involved which might has caused slow browsing during raining.
*
I wonder the same thing also. hmm.gif
The connection is not so slow, just sometimes its spike until I need to refresh the page.
