I have submitted my online application for Unifi VIP5 two days ago.

This morning a TM staff called me to get my full particulars and arranged for the installation to be done in a week from today.

I am currently on 4Mb Streamyx, which I need to cancel after VIP5 is successfully commissioned.

I wanted a new number for the VOIP phone.

i have been a unifi 10mbps user for a long while now.

Fast download/upload, also low latency.

US gaming ping is usually somewhere between 200-300 which is a significant improvement from the ADSL days when it was 600-800 ms.

So yes the FTTH is way better than copper adsl in terms of speed and latency, even for international servers :}

I haven't been back to this forum to complain about my internet in ages laugh.gif

Highrise UniFi user here.

True enough! WiFi is definitely a problem in highrise. Even using Asus RT-N12HP (with 9dBi antennas) while it improves in terms of range (wider coverage), the speed drops when I move more than 5m away from the access point.

I just have too many neighbors with wireless access points creating so much interference problem. Solved it by using HomePlug for desktop and notebook. Stable & works well! Only using wireless for mobile devices such as smartphones.

but wifi isn't really a unifi issue. that is already your own local networking issue.

Also if you can wait for next year....

"Samsung develops 60GHz WiFi capable of 4.6Gbps, will be in devices next year"
QUOTE
Samsung has announced that it’s entering the 60GHz 802.11ad WiFi game. Samsung says it has a commercialized version of 60GHz WiFi (aka WiGig) that’s capable of 4.6Gbps, or 575 megabytes per second — about five times faster than current dual-stream 802.11ac devices, or fast enough to download a movie in a couple of seconds. Samsung says the first devices supporting its 60GHz WiFi tech will be available in 2015.

Perhaps most importantly, though, 802.11ax is already coming down the pipe — and unlike 802.11ad, it’s a standard, long-range, 5GHz-based WiFi technology. A single 802.11ax stream should be capable of 3.5Gbps — and the spec will go all the way up to 4×4 MIMO, for 14Gbps, or about 1,750 megabytes per second.

Anyway, if you’re still interested, Samsung says its 802.11ad technology will be available in 2015. I don’t think the average consumer will see a lot of WiGig/60GHz WiFi — instead, 802.11ac will cement its grip in 2015 in 2016, and then slowly hand over to 802.11ax after that.

Actually its because they only make money for 24 month, 12 month rm 149 not enough to cover the cost of delivering you the service.

But sure, if you want to believe that the 2 year contract which has been in effect for 4 years or so already is because they plan to lower price soon, up to you =)

you need to have actual competition to even logically have lower prices ....

just cause another country is offering cheaper broadband, as long as they don't provide the service here then of course they won't reduce prices here ..... it's been this way for a long time now ....

i've been using 10mbps unifi for a long while now, and i'm more or less satisfied with the service. but i still think we a gouged by over paying for our service compared to most modern countries rolleyes.gif

wonder why the fee is expensive compare with other country and we still using 20mbps..

actually i'm on 10mbps. i refuse to go 20mbps seeing as i don't use netflix so i don't need that capacity for 4k streaming. could however be useful for my twitch streaming i guess, but 10mbps has worked ok for me so far.
