just installed unifi. problem is, wifi reception is very bad in my room on the 2nd flr. (modem & router is on the 1st.)

advice for best solution?

homeplug? or get a more powerful router?
*
What's your budget and what's your objective? If low budget but want very good performance, buy a super long LAN cable =). I have not used homeplug, but should work. Wifi repeater easiest in my opinion.

Hey guys. My internet is down, just called support and open case.
How is unifi customer service reputation?
Normally how long does technician come to request? Next day? Need internet urgent to finish report
*
Worst case is very very long. Suggest if need internet urgent go starbucks or tether from your phone.

Most cases can solve in a few days though (in my experience). Just see your bad luck.

Your macbook setting, probably you've set a proxy server and forgotten about it.

What's with Unifi in Subang Jaya area these days?
Slow unstable connection. Cannot get Google Docs, Facebook etc.
Have reconnected, reset base station many many times.

It's like back to the bad old congested Streamyx days.

Sigh.

My connection in Wangsa Baiduri (SS12) no problem ah.

You should know, those with no problem won't comment =) unfortunately unifi stupid 2-year contract means you can't test test.

If 12 months contract, I'm still fine with it. But 24 months, it sounds a bit fishy cause it kind of hint that TM is prepare to lower the price since our neighbouring countries are offering faster speed with cheaper price...
*
Actually its because they only make money for 24 month, 12 month rm 149 not enough to cover the cost of delivering you the service.

But sure, if you want to believe that the 2 year contract which has been in effect for 4 years or so already is because they plan to lower price soon, up to you =)

if u believe unifi stories, there is always something broken, so all the time have some excuse for bad connection.

the truth is that broken sea cable is long history, months ago.

however, there has been no service to some china sites in sep and nov - becos suspect was quota used up, did not pay more for more bandwidth, so users were fuming for some weeks. explanation was "we r experiencing heavy traffic to china...".

anyway, all has been restored to normal 2 weeks ago. of course, can expect some cable to be broken again and again.

where r u located?

here, shah alam, vip10, right now, wifi 45ft, all is good whether pc or hypptv or androidtv or torrent or china or usa or europe:

I think the cable is India area, affect Europe/US sites not China site.

Don't rule out virus as well, good to monitor exactly how much your system is using (not how much speed you 'feel' while browsing). Applies to all devices.

can we call them to upgrade? RM179 sounds ok for me
*
For 179 price anytime can call them they'll give. But renew 2 year contract of course.

RM169 is only on offer when they call you, and if you say no I think won't get the call again (this one not confirm).
