Dear Sifu here, need your help here for building this new PC. smile.gif Thank in advance!

[Budget] RM2,500 - RM3,000
[Purpose] I'm using this in large-scale printing company. Current PC is 2008-2009 old. Duo-core with 2GB Ram + 500GB HDD, well you know.
[Hardwares Re-Use] N/A, maybe my current DVD ROM? laugh.gif
[Games & softwares that use frequently] Illustrator + Coreldraw & Photoshop.
[Personal preferences] I stick with Intel CPU, no idea with MoBo & RAM, SSD prefer Intel/Samsung since these two highly rated and I need another high capacity HDD for storing file and file scratch disk purpose.
[Location] Ipoh, Perak. I have PC Depot in my town. PC Depot Price List

PC Depot hardware selection is so limited. How about these?

QUOTE
Core i7-4790 - RM998
Gigabyte Z97-HD3 motherboard - RM439
Kingston 8GB KVR1600 x2 - RM540
Intel 530 120GB SSD - RM313
WD Red 2TB hard disk - RM349
<Reuse your DVD drive>
Aerocool Strike-X 500W power supply (OEM is Andyson) - RM180
Additional Coolermaster 12cm silent fan - RM25
Thermaltake V3 black case - RM160

RM3004

Setup for Adobe Photoshop CC with expansion in mind. I suggest looking for zhen^wei or youngkeen for better quality power supply like Seasonic, Corsair and Antec. They also can build entire rig and post it to you if u don't mind about the hassle of warranty. Failure from quality products is rare.

You need quality products for business use. Or you can order branded PC like HP or Dell for better support.
*
Thanks for the recommendation. Will use that as guidelines, I have heard of zhen^wei ideatech but never been before deal with them. If based on their current hardware list offer here: idealtech pricelist so what would be your recommendation?

Few question above as well:
1) I saw others using Xeon type of Intel Proc. What is that? First time heard of it.
2) What makes diff. of Blue, Black, Red, Green of WD HDD? Can you mind to #spoonfeed the difference?

Thank you for your time. smile.gif

Xeon 1230v3 is almost like an i7 processor without AGP.
Since you not going for Overclock and using external gpu, it is recommended to go for xeon, cheaper.

WD black - faster drive , but still slower than SSD. Expensive.
WD blue - most common drive, cheap and good enough for daily task.
WD red - if not mistaken is specilize for RAID
WD green - lower power consumption but slower speed
*
Great info you got there. Thank you so much. No wonder most people go for Xeon. hmm.gif
No idea how to OC, don't want to fried up my own Company PC. sweat.gif

One of the buyer's testament for Idealtech:

They sell Antec power supply as well.
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...224505&hl=antec

I don't see value RAM on their price list but I think they should have it. Please also take note they might recommend you to go performance RAM. Just ignore them and go for regular RAM. You don't get big boost of performance out of it.

Xeon is a server processor. It has the performance of i7 with slightly lower speed and doesn't come with built-in graphics.

Green is for storage, blue is for normal use, red and purple is optimized for heavy use and black is the highest grade.
*
Just realized that you didn't recommend me a GPU. So does the build-in graphic on the Core i7 enough for it? hmm.gif

Yes. You can even add Nvidia graphic card later for even more performance boost.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/adobe-photoshop-cc.html

I would recommend taking 550W power supply just in case though. It's RM30 more money for Antec Platinum 550W.

Do you need Windows?
*
If add-in Nvidia Graphic Card, I need top-up how much? What are the price range, does brand matter? hmm.gif
No problem with another RM30 top up for more power PSU.

I don't need Genuine Windows as I know how to DIY. whistling.gif Can save that RM400 something else for better hardware. biggrin.gif

Depends on how far you wanna go. Leadtek GTX750 1GB DDR5 is at RM429.

Please also take note you may have to do some editing to enable gaming card support for Mercury Playback Engine. I don't know whether if it works on latest version or not.
*
Thanks. Just look at bottom the forumer recommend me the GPU price to yours so big different. sweat.gif
ZOTAC GeForce GTX760 2GB - RM749
Leadtek GTX750 1GB DDR5 is at RM429. shocking.gif

QUOTE(chabuchabu @ Aug 12 2014, 03:01 PM)

For photoshop, it's CPU and RAM then you go for graphic card.

No wonder. Now I understand why you didn't tell me to take Graphic Card at first place. So I guess I just stick with your below recommendation, if later need upgrade only take the GC.

Couple more question:
I would recommend taking 550W power supply just in case though. It's RM30 more money for Antec Platinum 550W.
1) Do I really need get higher power of PSU just in case for future will be upgrading like previously you said? Need your advice, well like you said, just RM30 sahaja...
WD Red 2TB hard disk - RM329
2) Do you recommend me take 2 unit of 1TB HDD or 1 unit of 2TB HDD?

I wonder how to pick good PSU? Hmmm... Did a quick Google found that Seasonic, Corsair and Antec have good quality PSU. All the while only I know CoolerMaster brand. Paiseh... So I think I pick either these top 3 brand of PSU would be a peace of mind?

1. It's just RM30 difference. It's your money, your choice. I already recommended quality PSU.

2. This is entirely up to you. You already got the speed boost from SSD. It's the matter of storage space. Hard disks that can take more punishment like WD Red, WD Purple, WD Black and Seagate SV35 are recommended for heavy use.

3. You can find out more about PSU here.

Please also take note quality comes at a price for power supply.

Thank you so much for your time and your effort today. notworthy.gif I will read that later on.
Time to shopping, waiting reply from zhen^wei. biggrin.gif

I knew he gonna push the performance RAM to you. DDR3-2133? Z97 motherboard with non-overclock processor? He builds it like it is a gaming PC.  doh.gif

That's pretty big difference for your cost. They sell full size ATX H97 motherboard. It's cheaper. This is another build if you wanna cut more cost with graphic card.

I was thinking the same things that eventually I won't OC my company PC and end up a rice-cooker.

I think will take the extra DVD Drive as he remind me one things, IDE things, since I'm not sure now a days MoBo still got IDE port or not. So what do you think?
btw, additional 12cm fan put where?

760 is weaker than the 280, better get 770. The 770 is on par with the 280.

Price range between it? hmm.gif

which would you guys recommend for Plextor M6S 256GB (RM499) or Samsung 840 EVO 250GB (RM479)? Or any other brand? Main purpose is for rendering program.

Price from idealtech

Confirm Samsung, no brainer choice.
Unless Plextor offer cheaper + longer warranty than Samsung.

How about these?

Low power consumption:
Asrock D1800M or D1800B-ITX motherboard (built-in CPU) - RM199
Kingston 4GB DDR3-1600 or DDR3L-1600 x1 - RM129/149
Seagate SV35 3TB hard disk - RM409
Antec VP400 power supply - RM109
Aerocool V3X or Coolermaster Elite 130(ITX) case - RM99/179

RM945/1045(ITX) total

I would run this if I want NAS and low end server in mind:
Pentium G3220 - RM159
Asrock H97M Pro4 motherboard (6 SATA ports with RAID support) - RM299
Kingston 4GB DDR3-1600 -  RM129
Seagate SV35 1TB hard disk - RM209
Antec VP400 power supply - RM109
Aerocool V3X case - RM99

RM1004 total
*
Prefer your second build. Thanks for it. I use that as guidelines. smile.gif
