Yah, crickets are just smelly things.... but I can finish using them since so many of my animals eat crickets hahhah.... I buy Rm3 to Rm4 at 1 go.... can last me about 1 week only, sometimes 5 days hahahah...
Kiah takes about 4 crickets a day.... she can go up to 6 a day but she normally gets full at 4 only.... Crickets have higher protein content and less fat than mealworms.... I think gliders enjoy the legs.... when Kiah was a joey I did not let her eat the legs but now, since adult, she loves cricket legs. No, won't poke around since I have seen Kiah chewing the legs till spitting out the exoskeleton mush.... Well, i dunno about other gliders but after feeding crickets, Kiah do not like mealworms anymore.... |

QUOTE(hamster9 @ Mar 10 2007, 11:13 PM) how much? Taking care of a SG is like taking care of a little child I agree... is like if we need to mother them like a human mother takes care of a real child.... So much responsibility, time and effort on a sugar glider.QUOTE(mini_me @ Mar 10 2007, 11:23 PM) Hey sugar glider fans, got few little questions wanna ask... Please do not risk it. If you get caught by the authorities... what would happen? They will confiscate the glider normally, then place it at Perhilitan or some zoo later on.... It is better for you to finish your studies and only get a glider than have one now and risk it's life on the plane later. If you want a pet, get a hamster, the lifespan is shorter and they do not need so much bonding and care like a sugar glider.... gliders got a lifespan of 15 years....Do u think sugar glider can take aeroplane? bcuz, got change in air pressure, thou bit, will make it sick? And when put sugar glider in the pocket, they will stay there quietly how long ar? will they simple shout and make noise anot?? hehe... cuz looking for a pet that can stay wit me during school terma and holidays... im taking domestic flight bout 1.5 hr.. can they last... Tanx for ur help! Also, not every sugar glider is quiet.... and air pressure changes can cause discomfort to certain animals sometimes.... |

For girls, can hide in your bra, but make sure not in your cleavage if you're going to countries like Australia and New Zealand. They check your cleavage too. For guys... Err... In your underwear? lol Eh... they will check wan lah.... coz I read in the newspaper, an Australian was fined for carrying 3 parrot eggs in his underwear from Thailand.... so it means they check underwear rite? HAhahaah.... Luckily it's eggs so he only gets a fined... if they were real birds, sure he kena jailed... well, stated in the newspaper lah... it was last year.Even if domestic flights still ok.... I think better not risk it just in case.... |

Yah, nuetering helps a lot and also to stop the pair from breeding everytime.... just that the vets here have never tried it before.. and who wants to let the vets use their gliders as experiements rite? So they can't do much research.... even rabbit spaying and neutering was only widely done by some vets a few years ago.... I wish the vets know how to neuter smaller animals... then I can bring all my male gerbils to neuter hahah.. and male rats too.
Anyway, Kiah also woke me up with barking..... she ah... bully me.... she comes up to my ear on my pillow, and bark loudly in my ear.... then when I wake up, she faster run hop away... like play kejar kejar but barking kind of kejar kejar.... to keep her quiet, I lock her in my drawer for a few hours hahahah.... |

QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ Mar 14 2007, 11:11 AM) I remember you telling me that Kiah was once very small... But look how beautiful she is today Yah.... she was the size of a hamster... adult dwarf hamster size... kinda small loh.... but luckily now she is good... and really really manja and naughty. She is not afraid of snake or gecko or bearded dragon.... she even wanna go kacau my snake and she bit my gecko's nose.... too brave already hahaha... Haha, yeah, mebbe she is so used to being free and always sleeping around your clothes, that's why she dun wan the pouch Hun, do I need to rotate the glider mix flavor or sticking to one until it is finish is ok? Takut Iggy boring eating the same flavor everynite... But also takut if I get another flavor he'll be choosy... Ohh, he is also not eating his veggie now. Carrot also dun wan. Last time his prev owner gave him carrots and mealworms only... KP Yah, I think I must cut some old clothes and stuff it into the pouch.... she ah.... get her nice pouch but she prefers my jeans.... eeee.... The glider mix, no problem, so far rotating flavours is no problem. Maybe you want to try chicken next time? Hahahah.... Carrots? hmmm... maybe carrots not sweet enough. I gave Kiah dragon fruit last night, she likes it.... maybe you can try? Of if you can drop by my place, I can hand you a sample of fruit smoothie to try. QUOTE(alieamin @ Mar 14 2007, 12:21 PM) if u also dun wan to eat a same food everyday. Yours suka mango ah? Kiah dun like.... even longan she dun want hahhah....can i feed them with buah ciku ar? ciku... maybe can lah. Most tropical fruits can be given to gliders. |

QUOTE(hao @ Mar 14 2007, 09:39 PM) Wan to ask, let's say you are keeping a sg and suddenly u intorduce a sg with the opposite sex to the one you're keeping, will they fight? And how bout with the same sex? Well.... normally introducing opposite sex is easier. Males will accept females better and faster coz to them... new mate hahahah.... Females can also readily accept males but some can reject the males (like my Kiah) but nothing serious would come about it.Males on the other hand would chase and fight each other. Unless they were paired up extremely young, like male siblings and they have never been introduced to a female before, then the males won't fight. Glider males normally fight for females and territory. So if territory no females, then should be ok. But intro a young male joey to an adult male.... bad idea... very dangerous. |

QUOTE(alieamin @ Mar 15 2007, 08:47 AM) yeah, the seller told me that we are the one of several country which produce and export to local n oversea, espeacially taiwan n japan. is that true at all? i thought that we only import. Taiwan and Japan? Actually.... many of the gliders could be exported illegally. Coz gliders are illegal in some countries and from what I know, alot of paperwork to do if wanna export animals and the cost would be high I think. I do know a number of SG got smuggled into Singapore... same as many exotics there, all sold in the black market. anyway i feel pity with those unsin joeys. QUOTE(soggie @ Mar 15 2007, 09:43 AM) The thing about malaysian pet stores is they don't give a damn about reading about the animals that they sell. Many keep their sugar gliders in less than optimum conditions, and feed them the completely wrong things. Also, many tend to treat the gliders badly, leading to aggressive and untamable gliders. Yes, right on. Many petshops I have seen with gliders, they feed the joeys with dry bread, apple and dog kibbles... dog kibbles also not the good brands but those cheap premium ones. Then they have no bedding but newspaper and many do not even put a water bowl for them. QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ Mar 15 2007, 11:03 AM) True, true... Sugar glider sales thread are popping like mushrooms. The sad thing is that they don't really know about gliders, let alone feeding them and how to take care of them, the important thing is money... Why can't they take a little time to learn a thing or two about gliders before selling them? Atleast get their food right. Buyers also need to understand that taming/bonding a glider takes time, no matter how old they are, with patience they CAN bond with you. Selling a glider because they are not tame or do not bond with you properly is not the solution. When a glider get transfered to many-many homes, they carry an emotional baggage with them, they will feel unwanted thus becoming aggressive until they find the right owner that will bear with them no matter what. All also want profit lah. Some may say they are selling to help give people an affordable pet blah blah.... I know many petshops or sellers would say feed apples and dogfood is enough already... kesian... I saw before some place feed gliders with sun flower seeds.... plain wrong. Kept in overcrowded cages also.... stressed like crazy... I really pity all those gliders....Sorry if I get carried away, but I have come to learn a lot of things about glider before getting one and more since becoming a proud owner of one. I don't think I have ever been more responsible since owning a glider myself despite the things that I have to go through. KP ---------- Just sharing, this might be long, but worth reading. I almost cried reading this, and it made me want to give the best to Iggy... I don't know how many homes has Iggy been to before me, and he is only about 7 months. http://www.sugargliderinfo.com/Bonding/biters.html Oh yah, I do on ceiling fan also... since Kiah do not glide often, everything is fine. |

QUOTE(cheaka @ Mar 15 2007, 06:15 PM) so cute lah all of your sugar glider...wish my gollum can be as tame as your SG....lately my Gollum behave very weird....i bought some more fresh crickets...last time...he would take it and eat at my hand...now he take it like he never seen a cricket (very aggressive) then quickly make u-turn and go back to his cage....arhghghgh.......why is he behaving like that.....like i am a monster... Hahaha... he take back to his cage coz he feels more comfortable eating there.... My Kiah worst, she takes the cricket then she hides behind my table or printer to eat.... lagi worst. |
