QUOTE(Cloud0890 @ May 30 2014, 10:54 PM) Exactly why Lambert is a backup striker? He scored 28 goals in the past 2 seasons. Let's say Suarez scores only 20 which is way off from his 30 last season with Sturridge chipping in maybe 15 and another 10 from Lambert. That there is 45 goals from our strikers alone from a conservative estimate. Why not have a look at Lambert's number of assists? Only 4 players managed double figures in assists last season, Gerrard Suarez Rooney and Lambert. Now we have 3 of them. Totally agree. Were you really expecting us to throw 32m for Costa and bench him when we start with Sturridge and Suarez? Then what? Spend peanuts on other more crucial areas - fullbacks. Plus we have MORE games now which includes CL. If anyone think Suarez or Sturridge can play 60 games after the world cup to come, they gotta have their brains examined. In addition,Lambert's style gives another option. Headers and hold up play which in what i have seen is pretty good. And of course the assist stats which you have pointed out. He will add another dimension on the cheap. At 33, BR would have seen the value he brings since he breaks the age rule. Cant afford to bring in another 30m plus striker to be on the bench when we already have TWO! |

QUOTE(kevafk @ May 31 2014, 02:34 AM) it is not overpriced, in my opinion honestly. Lambert is great signing is it fits well in Liverpool's system. Remember BR said he wanted to keep AC? there is reason why he wanted AC in his system but AC technical ability piss poor. I am pretty sure Lukaku was one of his target but knowning his price would prolly cost a bomb. i agreeif next season he bang us 10-15 goals & assist, 4mil is like nothing. Gary McAllister was a good example, he contributed so many crucial games. For me he is a legend for liverpool.. altho he joined late but its all good. dont judge from the price, age or stats that much, go google him abit or see his playing style how he would contribute. Hell even if Liv sign Pirlo i wouldnt mind.. still going strong His stats Goals 14 Assists 11 not bad as 3rd striker Englang International for 4 mil aint bad This post has been edited by prophetjul: May 31 2014, 10:48 AM |

More risk with Shaw IMO. For an 18 year old? Hmmmmmm
Southampton value Shaw at £30m, with United having previously made a bid of £27m, while offering him around £100,000 a week. Chelsea, one of a clutch of clubs that also want the left-back, are resistant to meeting the £30m price and, it is understood, would propose paying a weekly wage in the region of £60,000. |

Perhaps the most obvious value Lambert would bring to the squad is his ability to offer Rodgers a different option. Without wishing to be overly critical of Iago Aspas, Rickie Lambert would have made far more of a difference in the game at Anfield against Chelsea towards the end of the season, giving the team a different way to try and get around that parked bus. Liverpool can expect many more parked buses next season as other sides look to emulate an approach that proved successful in muting the attacking power of the Reds.
Lambert is far more of a threat in the air than any of Liverpool’s current forwards and can hold the ball up well but Brendan Rodgers wouldn’t sign a player for those qualities alone – just ask Andy Carroll. Lambert is quick-footed, skilful and is one of those players who can both see and execute the kind of passes that lead to chances. He’ll also come in handy for any penalties if Steven Gerrard happens to be sitting a game out. There will be times when Gerrard does sit games out next season, especially when the games are coming thick and fast, and Lambert’s experience is something that Rodgers will value highly. For all that the Reds boss likes to give youth a chance he recognises the importance of having some older heads around to lead and guide them and Lambert will certainly offer him that. Lambert is quite clearly one of many signings the Reds need to make this summer if they are to challenge on all fronts next season. The shopping list is long and Rodgers will need to budget wisely if he wants to cross all the items off. At £4m, the question shouldn’t be: “Why Rickie Lambert?” The question should be: “Why not?” http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/new...6#ixzz33G3XOMBx Follow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook Think the writer forgot. QUOTE(whitesabre @ Jun 10 2014, 10:57 AM) Guys!!! Why aren't Liverpool buying Mario Mandzukic? He's a straight forward guy aiming to play his pressing style, suitable for BR needs. Best of all, Bayern doesn't need him anymore. He should can come cheap right? And he's Bayern's top scorer in Bundesliga with 18 goals, short of 2 goals of Lewandowski's 20. He's a top player with UCL experience so should serve us well in UCL where Sturridge lacks experience there. Because we already have enough strikers? Hope we can pay 25-30 mil and get Shaqiri + Mandzukic. Sturridge lacks WC experience as well. But he is a top class striker |

QUOTE(whitesabre @ Jun 11 2014, 12:16 PM) Having Suarez + Sturridge + Mandzukic rotating for UCL, EPL and important cup matches will keep our players fresh all the time. Lambert can be a backup plan B in case of any mishaps. Besides, if Sturridge, Lambert and Suarez progress in WC, they may not be as fresh as last season. Although Mandzukic in WC, having 4 players to rotate will be good. Besides, Mandzukic can come cheap around 15mil. Saw Mancity last season with 4 top strikers rotate in out. I believe we need such quality. Next, you assume Lambert is plan B. Bear in mind, Lambert is plan A for Engerlund. Maybe Rogers thinks different. Maybe Suarez, Sturr and Lamb are all plan A depending on opponents? Manzukic may not be that cheap. His wages may also be not so cheap. BUT i do agree that if those guys are shipped, dont mind having him in the 4 strikers dept. Really i prefer Sanchez from Barca. We all have our wishes. |

QUOTE(Cloud0890 @ Jun 12 2014, 01:26 AM) Manchester City's plans for next season's Champions League campaign have received a huge boost after it was confirmed the club will only need to name five rather than eight home-grown players in their reduced 21-man squad. Oil Doallahs 1 Fairplay -1Pressure from the players' union FIFPro has forced UEFA to agree to temper its sanctions imposed against City and Paris Saint-Germain for breaching financial fair play rules. UEFA had intended that both clubs would only be allowed to have 21 players with eight of those having come through the youth system in their home countries. http://www.espnfc.com/uefa-champions-leagu...-sanction-boost On the other hand, Red Star excluded from UCL over FFP Serbian SuperLiga champions Red Star Belgrade have been excluded from next season's Champions League after falling foul of UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations. It was announced on April 11 that the club were to be referred to UEFA's Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) after it was discovered a number of overdue payments to employees and other clubs. http://www.espnfc.com/uefa-champions-leagu...om-ucl-over-ffp Moral of the story? It is okay to breach FFP as long as you can pay for it. |

Anyone saw the Brazil vs Coatia game?
Was watching Lovren a bit....not really impressed. Quite weak actually compared with Skrtel. The 2nd goal went through him. Skrt would most probably have dealt with the shot. Certainly not an improvement on Agger. What do ya think? |

QUOTE(whitesabre @ Jun 13 2014, 09:46 AM) 2nd?? are we watching the same game? Thought the 2nd goal is a penalty? Anyhow, yup he was quite weak, not really that good imo. Skrtel is wee bit better. I suggest we move on to our next target, Moreno and then Shaqiri. soritypo.....1st goal and 3rd goal 1st goal went through him without a challenge 3rd goal no convicted challenge at Oscar Skrt would have thrown himself at the challenge |
