BR love attacking football. LB, RB is basically wingbacks; pushing forward at every given opportunity. These kind of football is exciting but is prone to counters if the RB/LB can't track back fast enough. Glen is ok going fwd but his tracking back is really poor. Flano might be steady at the back but going fwd is so so only.
To apply these kind of tactics, we need a solid DM to cover when we lose the ball up front and break up play. To me, this is where we failed to address; hence leaking 50 goals. Every one of us know that we need quality backline, players that can bomb fwd and track back effectively. These are very unique players and they won't be cheap. Just hope we can scout and close deals soonest or else, we'll be scouting for Chelsea and Spurs. Next season, with CL to play, we need a deeper bench and better players. With current players, we WILL struggle to stamp our mark. Rafa made us hard to beat in Europe because we're solid at the back. We were fearless. BR can do the same too. I want to see Monster Mascherano back if possible. Frontline with SSS, Borini, Cout, Suso can be awesome. YNWA! |

QUOTE(Petre @ May 15 2014, 04:43 PM) just to add... we cannot expect opposition managers to not have learnt how to deal with our gameplay... We need a powerful CF like Drogba. Lukaku seems right but JM will never sell him to us. Anyway, with an increase income from TV rights, CL matches and finishing 2nd, need to invest in quality. I've always felt younger players need to play at least in cup ties. Our bench felt so light compared to Chelsea, City. We went far in league this season due to our lack of european matches. Next season how we cope will be interesting. |

Just hope we get 1 or 2 marque signings and some squad players for rotation. With CL to cope, we need more depth in our squad.

It was reported that we're close on signing Emre Can from Leverkusen.
Any idea who this guy is as I don't follow Bundesliga. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/tra...ransfer-3597124? |

It was reported Southampton wants £25m for Lalaboy! Crazy! Even £20m is excessive!

Poch was rumoured to be looking to bring Lalaboy to Spurs. Well, that's a normal thing since managers will always want to work with players he has been trusting and dishes results. However, like what markblurberry has pointed out, Spurs is having one too many midfielders. Unless they can sell a few, it'll make a very edgy dressing room if indeed they buy Lalaboy.
Selling also releases some financial burden on wages and bonuses. So, unless Spurs can sell some, it'll be a nightmare for Poch to manage a unhappy squad. |

Lamela won't come cheap and he's pretty much flopped in his 1st season. Unless Spurs willing to sell him cheap, maybe it's worth a gamble. BR might just bring out the best in him like the Chelsea reject-not-good-enough striker that we adored!

Chelsea will use Lukaku as bait for their targets. Don't see any chance of us getting him.

Whatever it is, transfer windows is all about rumours, speculation etc. All teams will try to sign players they want, out bidding or offering something that the player wants. Many will be disappointed, some will rejoice.
It's also a gamble; sometimes very expensive. Trusted names might flop, remember Morientes, Veron, Sheva? While sometimes a percieved flop might just gave us a surprise! I just hope we can get someone that can add some steel in our defense. A playmaker ala Alonso and a reliable backup striker maybe. Many teams/players will not want to commit until after the WC. If they have a great WC, I'm sure their wages will go north. As for now, let's enjoy and talk about the rumours! |

Rickie will be a valuable squad player. Good price for a experienced player. Only downside is his age but like many of us know, sometimes old is gold. We can't expect SAS to perform like they did next season given that we have CL to negotiate. Need some back-up plans.
BR did right in bringing RL to Liv. He's coming back at last! YNWA! |
