Wayne Rooney could be lining up with Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Paris Saint-Germain if French club pay £35m for Man Utd star
QUOTE Paris Saint-Germain will consider a summer move for Wayne Rooney. Should Louis van Gaal's appointment as Manchester United manager go through this week, Rooney’s future at the club will be cast into doubt. Already there have been rumours Rooney is worried about his prospects if the Dutchman gets the job. With van Gaal in charge Robin van Persie, who was set to quit the club in the summer, is likely to be persuaded to stay. And van Gaal, who will manage Van Persie with Holland at the World Cup, is set to make his compatriot the main man up front and perhaps even offer him the captaincy. With other forwards likely to be signed, Rooney could well face a struggle for a place in the starting line-up. Certainly his nose will be put out of joint just a few months after committing his future to United on a massive £300,000-a-week deal. But that deal means that the club will now be able to command a decent price for Rooney – had he not signed then his fee would have dipped under the £10million mark this summer, given that he only has a year left on his contract But United could ask for around £35m for the 28-year-old England striker. Chelsea are unlikely to be interested any longer and no other English club would want to meet Rooney’s transfer fee and wages. PSG though would, despite them facing sanctions from UEFA (in the Champions League) under Financial Fair Play regulations. The ambitious French club were poised to make a move for Rooney in January but United decided to meet his pay demands. It is believed the player is reluctant to leave the Premier League but a move to PSG may prove his best option if he is no longer central to Van Gaal’s plans. In the meantime, Rooney is battling to be fit for the World Cup. It is feared a lingering groin injury which has kept him out of action could actually be a hernia problem which requires surgery. How about a Rooney+10mil Cavani swap deal eh? I fancy Cavani's workrate as a forward, quite similar to Rooney |

QUOTE(micpling @ May 4 2014, 11:30 AM) Cavani can backtrack too? Never seen(or never noticed to be precise) his style of play before. If so, I don't mind too. Wages too high can disrupt team harmony make people jealous I think Cavani is a hardworker, he tracks back alot and scores alot too. As for Rooney's case in PSG, he won't be king. As Zlatan will tell Rooney, 'Zlatan thinks he is the best player in PSG, so back off yeah'. #DaretoZlatan |

QUOTE(Minecrafter @ May 4 2014, 01:12 PM) Giggs played the similar lineup bar the striker during Moyes reign.TBH,the cente of the midfield is pretty much "broken".Even if u replace with Cleverley or OOF Fellaini, you still can't do anything. Cavani is a hardworker striker eh? Zlatan:"Oi Wayne,go play on the side,i don't need you partnering me!" 'Zlatan thinks Zlatan should take it'... Gotze: wtf That is what will happen if Wayne joins PSG lol |

As for Rooney, he can leave if he feels 'threatened'. Rio should stay, his presence in the club is very much needed. Can be used as a utility player thou. |

QUOTE(hocksoo @ May 5 2014, 10:34 AM) Rooney can be a world class CM. But he just don't see it that way. He is pretty confidence he is a world class STR, which is good determination but bad for Man Utd. So unless he accepts his role as CM, he will do no good to us and it is wise he just leave. Rooney has a ego problem. I doubt the CM role suits him at all. His first touch is always awful, a good CM requires good first touch and distribution vision. Rooney has the vision but he often overhit passes, gives away possession too easily. He works best at CF, behind Van Persie. But the problem lies on his positioning, he is all over the pitch. Whenever a player thinks he is too big for the club, he has to leave. Rooney is not a calibre of Ronaldo, Messi, Ibra range, yet he thinks that he is somewhere between them. Get back to reality Wayne. |

QUOTE(irmo @ May 7 2014, 02:34 PM) Januzaj's original position is CF actually. The reason why the Belgian coach wanted Janu to play for them during the WC is because he can replace Benteke As for the topic of Rooney's replacement, yeah we don't need to replace a player of calibre, BUT we need another striker. Why? What if RVP gets injured again? You cannot depend on Welbeck/Chica to replace them mang. Look at how many goals they've scored between them? Wilson..er he is too young to be played regularly. Future prospect but not to be rushed. Still need another striker regardless. Cavani plz. Or Jackson Martinez. |

QUOTE(+Newbie+ @ May 8 2014, 10:02 AM) Is the management trying another round of brinksmanship? They are probably considering the options for Pep Guardiola or Ancelotti hence the delay. http://www.espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1812...utd-job?cc=4716 LvG wants the job but no offer has been made. He is disappointed it turned out like that. He still wants the job but says there are other offers available. Is this because they cannot decide who to hire or are still looking for other better options? Or is this because they cannot agree on a fee for LvG? Seems they are repeating the same self destruct process as last summer. Will we end up last minute cannot hire any brand name coach and get AvB/Gus Poyet instead, with only got one month to rush transfers? And this time, AFTER a World Cup? And with news leaks of the entire indecisive process dragging the Man United name through the mud because some people think any publicity, good or bad, is good publicity? |

QUOTE Man United have sent representatives to Paris to discuss the possibility of securing powerful forward Edinson Cavani and Ed Woodward believes a £60m offer will be accepted by the Ligue 1 side as they look to balance the books so as to avoid UEFA punishment that hovers over them due to the inability to adhere to their FFP (Financial Fair Play) guidelines. Louis van Gaal is keen to partner Cavani with Robin Van Persie in a two pronged attack whilst using Wayne Rooney in a withdrawn role that the England man has thrived in. In order to make room for the 27 year old Uruguayan Man United will listen to offers for back-up strikers Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez. source Oit. Keep Chica and Welbeck, but sell the 300k man instead. This post has been edited by andrewtho: May 10 2014, 08:31 PM |

QUOTE(Minecrafter @ May 10 2014, 10:00 PM) I wouldn't get Edinson Cavani,i'll just straightaway play Chicharito/Welbeck rotate or promote James Wilson.. As I've stressed before, we need another striker. GK:DDG RB:Rafael CBs:Chris Smalling,Phil Jones LB:Alexander Buttner CMs:ADOI PENING KEPALA!! X2 LM:Tom Lawrence RM:Adnan Januzaj CAM:Juan Mata CF:Robin van Persie Current line-up without any signings for next season. You cannot do anything in the centre of the midfield.. 1) RVP is 30. He is not young anymore, injuries and fatigue will set in over the course of the season. 2) Chica/Welbeck cannot be relied on to delivered the goals as a main strikers because they are mostly used as 'second-string'. Look at the number of goals scored between them. 3) Wilson is only 18. You don't expect him to play week in week out without being worn off halfway through the season. The case of Michael Owen. 4) Rooney does not score often. He scores for fun. He is not going to get us 20 goals every season, maybe once a blue moon. 5) Next season is a VERY IMPORTANT season. We need to rebuild our reputation, using players like Tom Lawrence and Januzaj? Realistically? Come on, they are FUTURE prospects, not CURRENT prospects. 6) With the lineup that you are predicting, that is good enough for a Carling Cup match, not BPL. We need experienced players. With the current squad, we cannot even score 60 goals in the league this season. We need a new striker. Buttner for main LB? Don't hope on it. He does not have the experience to handle big games. |

QUOTE(king_eric @ May 10 2014, 10:56 PM) i think this is a bit harsh for him. if we gonna count on experience then none of the youngsters will have a chance to develope. I think buttner has the desire to do well. only with more games can he be an integral part of our team moving fwd. Buttner has been around for quite awhile now, 2012? Sure he has a few good games but that doesn't mean he is a shoo in for the starting eleven. If you've noticed, Buttner tends to make mistakes, especially when it comes to tackling and marking. He has this trait of going forward. Maybe he can consider changing to LM rather than LB because he operates well when he is attacking rather than defending. I still don't trust him for big games, maybe as a backup yes, but not a on a frequent basis. Experience is vital. Youngsters will have their part in rotation, they can play often but not on a week in week out basis. The whole idea of squad rotation is to blend youth and experience together, not overly relying on them because they need to be nurtured with proper guidance and that will take time. Surely we have plenty of youngsters waiting on the flanks, but I believe our main downfall this season is due to the lack of calibre in certain positions and I'm glad that Januzaj had the opportunity to develop well this season. I don't see Januzaj playing week in week out either. If you've noticed, David Moyes blends the team in terms of experience and youth as a unit. The only problem is that the squad is declining, age factor, the lack of pace and injuries. Squad rotation is the key. |

RVP is never known for that 'pacey' trait but he is a cunning forward, and his finishing is excellent. But injuries this season really affected his form of late, with the WC looming and RVP is the main forward for the Dutch team, I am worried he will get wornout again. Of course it is always good to have more than one clinical strikers. Chica and Welbeck are good backups, but we surely need another forward if we were to offload Rooney (worst case scenario).
Pace is important in the BPL but not in Spain/Serie A/ Bundesliga. Look at how Man City/Chelsea/Liverpool went with speedy wingers this season. We won last season because of pace too, but it seems to be the missing element this season. I would welcome the addition of a new winger, be it Reus, Muller or Griezmann |

QUOTE(gr8fr8 @ May 11 2014, 11:34 AM) With no Europe next season almost becoming a certainty, I don't see why Janujaz couldn't play most of the games. He would have first full season under his CR7, lulz. Get the ball, push falls. Gets up, gets shoved, calls for foul. HAHAHA I remember those moments. Yup, I hope Januzaj gets more playing time too, but just hope he doesn't get worn out, like what happened to Owen, overused until injuries became a norm. Hopefully LVG will be wise to utilize him like how Moyes did.belt already, hopefully another good pre-season, he would become stronger and experienced next season. He is the best winger this season without a doubt and he will be for years to come if he continues the rate of development like he is having now. For me, he is less frustrating to watch compared to CR7 when he is at that age. |

QUOTE(gr8fr8 @ May 11 2014, 11:51 AM) 3 strikers are not bad IMHO. I don't think RvP's form have been affected much at all. He got injured much of the season, yes but United's form generally have Yeah mang, gotta agree about the Welbeck part. I am actually a fan of Danny, his workrates and versatility is one of the reason why we must keep him. 3 strikers..may work but I'm still open to the possibilities of a new forward been patchy, including other players. Welbeck's form has been good, even though there are many haters out there. In the league, his stats are not that much different from that 30+ million Negredo. How much is Welbeck? Europe next season. Just don't see why United would want to spend that much of money, on a single player, that wanted to get out of PSG, just because he is second best? Heard that one before somewhere when United got Mata, but it would be a really major coup if United could tempt Reus. Maybe after next season, when United got back to the top, playing good football with a certain style. If we are indeed to get Reus (hopefully), good times will come! |
