For now other than retail outlets, you should be able to buy it online. There's the Triology pack released recently via NCSoft.

Guildwars Triology

Just remember you'll only receive the digital key, and the rest of the data, I mean files, need to be downloaded. If you're on O2 8Mbps or faster, it'll just take a few hours. A trick to it is to add command line argument:

1. Right click on your Guild Wars shortcut and select 'Properties'.
2. In the 'Target Area' field you will see the location of your Guild Wars executable file:

"<...>\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"

3. Write the desired command line arguments after the quote marks, each beginning with a space:

"<...>\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image

for complete command line list available go Here, so that you can customize your GW client and won't make any accidental mistake with the game client.

Oh and before I forgot, it doesn't matter where you live, you can always hop from one server to the other.
GW districts are :
America (English), Europe (English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian, Spanish), Asia (Korean, Traditional Chinese), Japan (Japanese, duh ) and International.
We usually juggle between USA and Korean server. But in your case Europe server would be the fastest one.

You seem very interested indead. Just wondering, if you know, how is the GW community or at least popularity in the UK? I know in Europe, like France and Germany, it's very famous but never heard about UK.

That's a tricky question to answer. It depends on our budget. But I for one would most probably buy the game, though won't totally ditch GW for GW2. The reason is simple, I have too many stuff earned in GW.

Unlike the other GW players that I know, I don't really spend much time farming titles and achievements (titles and achievements are said to unlock some stuff in GW2). I'm more to item collector and event goer (like Elite runs with guildmates and in-game festivals).

Luckily, it has been officially said that GW2 won't hit the market until well into 2010. So that leaves me at least 4~5 months to consider

Lala, if you can get hold of the ANI guys tonight, tell them that there's a plan to go for green fever farm. Plan is to make a GW Boss World Tour starting from EotN, NF, Fac, down to Proph. At the same time cap elites along the way.

Well just a plan, but it's the best weekend for me to play. Oh and by weekend; if possible, it means starting from Friday night.
I hope this can spiced up GW a bit.

Anyway ideas for other runs are welcome. The only concern is whether we can get enough players or not. Or if too many participant, like more than 8 but max 10, then we might as well do elites. Max 10 coz really need at least 2 heroes, humans are sooo prone to DCs

Sorry karwaidotnet, this isn't your typical mmorpg.

1. There are no stats similar to other streotype mmorpg. You can still see your HP, your energy, your weapon stats and your ARMOR. By the way there is no "total armor" in GW. As you can see you can wear 5 different pieces of armor at a time: head, body, glove, legs, feet. Hover your mouse over the armor and you can see their individual armor value. But what it means by "no total armor" is for example:

Head (40), Body (70), Glove (50), Legs (70), Feet (60): Depending on which part of your character's body is attacked by the enemy, only that part's armor is counted in damage calculation. Let's say it's the body, then 70 armor value is applied. If head, then 40 armor; if feet 60 and so on. But usually this won't be the case coz ppl will wear full set of same armor value. Like all 70s, or all 80s and so on.

2. There are NO stats. No agi, no dex, no int.. nothing. What's there is the "Attributes". By the way "Attribute" is not the same as "Skill level" such as Cabal, Ragnarok and so on. In those game, when you put 1 skill point in that skill, it ONLY affects that skill ONLY.

But in GW, when put 1 ATTRIBUTE point to, let's say you Warrior's Strength Attribute, it will affect ALL of the skills in Strength Attribute list. How many? 37 of them. See this Warrior's Strength Attribute.

3. There is no point in restricting your character to have all points in Swordsmaship or all in Strength. Not sure if you know this already, but you can set and reset your Attribute points anytime you are in a town/outpost/non-combat maps. So if you go into a mission and realized that you brought a wrong set of skills, just teleport back to town and reset your skills and Attributes.

This is the fun of GW where your skills will be tested instead of your item/stats/armor/blablabla. Rare and unique weapons/armors are mostly just fo' show, displaying their cool skins, while having the same value as the ugliest weapon/armor. A level 17 Ritualist (mine ) with basic armor basic weapon, all basics can kill a level 20 Warrior with unique this and that if the Warrior is not skilled enough.

If you trace back this thread page, Mr. Deimos Tel`Arin had posted his build of a Warrior/Paragon that heavily utilise Axe Mastery (not Swordsmanship), Strength and Tactics.

Like Mr. banks previously suggested, you might want to check out pvx.wikia.com.
Here is one of the build for dishing out damage and use an Axe instead of sword.
Warrior/Any - PvE WE Axe
And here is a combination build Warrior/Ranger or W/R for short. See how the skills compliment each other. Read the 'Usage' part.
W/R - NRA Rage War
This last example is a PvP, GvG build. Instead of just dishing out damage, it's usage is more towards tactical purposes. Again, read the 'Usage' part.
W/any - Magehunter's_Smash_Warrior

From my experience, those who browse through the builds in that website will eventually learn more on how to use skills effectively. They will go from:
1. Want to know what the skill does.
2. Similar skill from other attributes.
3. How to plan attribute point.
4. How to make skills complement or benefited each other.
5. Want to know how other profession's skill affect their main profession.
6. And lastly build their very own build.

It will also lead you to read information about the map and enemies in the area so that; like you say, if there are many undead in that area, you will most likely not gonna bring any bleeding skills (unless they're the fleshy type of undead, which again notified by the map/enemy info page).

ANYHOW, don't get too rushed up. Learn slowly bit by bit or you aren't gonna enjoy the game the way it's suppose to be enjoyed.
BTW, Ronnie - a Malaysian player too in our guild, has a preference towards Warrior. So maybe, somehow, you can try and get some warrior tips from him. I on the other hand, am an avid Assassin user and Warriors are one of my best prey in PvP

Fox Fangs: decreased recharge to 3; increased damage to 10..35.

Jagged Strike: decreased activation time to 1/2 second.



Black Lotus Strike: decreased recharge to 6 seconds; decreased Energy gain to 5..13.

Golden Lotus Strike: decreased recharge to 5 seconds; decreased Energy gain to 5..8.



Golden Phoenix Strike: functionality changed to: "If you are not under the effects of an Enchantment, this skill misses. If it hits, Golden Phoenix Strike deals +10..30 damage and all adjacent foes take 10..30 damage."

Jungle Strike: functionality changed to: "Must follow a lead attack. If it hits, Jungle Strike strikes target foe for +10..25 damage. If it hits a foe that was Crippled, that foe and all adjacent foes take +1..31 damage."



Sharpen Daggers: functionality changed to: "For 5..30 seconds, your dagger attacks cause Bleeding for 5..15 seconds."

Signet of Deadly Corruption (PvE): no longer follows a dual attack.



Shroud of Distress (PvE): functionality changed to: "For 30..60 seconds, if you are below 50% Health, you have +3..8 Health regeneration and a 75% chance to block attacks.

Unseen Fury (PvE): decreased recharge to 20 seconds. Functionality changed to: "All adjacent foes are Blinded for 3..10 seconds. For 10..30 seconds, you cannot be blocked by Blinded foes."




WHAT AN UPDATE FOR SIN!!!

Oh yeah there are updates for other classes too. I especially like Dervish's, Mesmer's and Ranger's as I do play them from time to time. Elementalist's and Monk's updates are cool too, though I'm not so much into them. Hohohoho tonight my sin will rape Underworld for sure!! Muahahaha

Hehehe, you're not alone man. I have to think how our Crit Barrager can be more useful. Normal barraging will get boring overtime. Maybe now barraging will more effective with primary Rangers, just like sharpen D to Sins.

Yeah Shroud of distress has 3 advantages now, low maintenance, 75% block and regen to make sure won't go below 30% of hp. I'm thinking of couple it up with Unseen Fury. Blind and unblockable, and when it ends SoD will cover up during the recharge time.
Need to modify my MM hero now as she will be sacrificing 30% hp not to mentioned other allied minions if there's another MM.
Since we can get +3 death magic easily with AoTL, I'm thinking of staying with 10 minions, but with:
11+2+3 DM = total 16
10+1+2+2 SR = total 15 (SoLS gives 100hp and 10energy )
2x +2 runes is -70hp, better than +3 with -75hp
10 to a secondary attribute for self survival. Or maybe just 8, so we can use +1 rune and get back 35hp

AH!! So many new sweet combos! Now if only we can have a tertiary profession

banks, haven't met you yet. Are you in ANI too?? Seems you're just like I was 3 months till 2 years ago, very active. But I'm nearing my end time with med-hardcore gaming. Going casual, didn't even last more than 1 hour of GW once a week

Anyway my HD 2600XT 128-bit 256 GDDR3 can go highest detail and 2xAA @1680x1050 res with a max fps of 30 and 15 min. I'm sure yours is at least 256-bit 512MB GDDR3 if not more. So there won't be any problem for you to play GW2 in high quality, though not sure about the limit for your AF and AA.

Talking about AF (anisotropic filtering, if anyone's wondering), does any of you set your AF to 8x or 16x?? It does more or less affect view range. Mine is always 4x only
