QUOTE(Tripod @ Jul 16 2014, 08:03 PM) boon, wanna ask u about high NTA's in some plantation counters. are they worth buying? i see some counters...their current price is less then their NTA by almost half. heart big..heart small on whether wanna make the purchase or not Plantation.... firstly, this is one area I am no good at. Why some plantation NTA high? I can think of simple reasons.... for example, some planters have huge land bank.... translating into valuable 'asset'..... agree? but then.... not all plantation land will be the same.... for example... Land value. The value of the land will depends on the location of the land. Agree? if the land is closer to, say some highways, I would guess that the plantation land will be expensive, valuable. But what good is the land value? For a plantation stock, most important is we want profits. It is not much use to the shareholder if the plantation has lots of land and plenty of old, old trees left..... there are so much other issues to consider.... there's one person who is very good in all this, iegark but unfortunately I have no idea what has happened.... |

Boon, how about property stock? can I solely depend on NTA? i also take into account the GDV to estimate the future profits/cash flows.

Today's closing was much nicer for Gadang considering the dramatic mini breakdown of the stock from its tight trading range early in the month. Last quarterly profit, Gadang had a strong run up just before its quarterly profit announcement. Are we going to see a repeat? Err... cawan meh? Which part of the chart looks like the cup? *haiayaaah.... cannot log in to my trading platform... |

Why, why, why..... like so much NTA???? NTA can be so misleading.... ( and since it can be misleading, I really don't depend on this silly yardstick) Sometimes when market is hot, you see some unscrupulous folks using this yardstick to sell the stock. And most of the time, it is done when the said stock doesn't have much earnings to show for. Back to property stocks. Simple REAL example.... Let me ask you. LOL! Which property stock ..... got plenty, plenty and plenty of land ( = high NTA) but then .... the company very conservative.... one year (maybe two) only do one housing project........ which means.... despite great balance sheet ( tons of cash), huge landbank ..... but lousy profit. Worth investing? |

Yup, the 185 area coincided with the price fixing of the placement shares... but what happened once the price of the placement shares was announced... sucks! Share price broke down.... I believe quite a number of people did not like that all.... LOL! cannot say without the flat area .... that's the cawan la...... and then, where's the handle? |

Worth investing? I evaluate based on the NTA of the property stock and then I look at the net profits, increasing year to year, just like what you always mentioned. I also look at their future housing projects, Gross Development Value in the coming years. make sure that their have future projects to be launched and making constant growth in profits. back to ur question, i really dont know which lousy property stock that u mentioned. haha.. |
