Im newbie in OC core2,
Just now i try OC my E63 with Easy Tune 5. I straight away push proc peformance to 120%. No doubt sure will reboot one.. but im curious, so i give it a try... blush.gif
After failure and reboot twice then BIOS auto recovery... pc back to normal.

Can any C2D OC pros help me.
1) wht soft ware should i use to OC??.. (currently i have some basic tools like cpu-z-137, Prime95 ver. 24.14, Easy tune, 3Dmark03/05).
2) I only need to adjust the FSB to OC..
3) Should i modding the mobo??
4) Shall i change some BIOS setting??

thanks. notworthy.gif

well OC is all about trial and error also depends on other components mobo, ram so on...
*
yes, i tune my grafic before.
For C2D, i only need to tune the FSB only ?? ignore other?? Really need suggestion from u guys, wht software should i use to OC.

(If only tunning FSB, then using Easy tune5 from Gigabye to tune FSB is sufficient??)

Don't use software to OC, it's not gonna work very well  whistling.gif . My pc rebooted once i oc using ET5, but then if i oc using bios nothing goes wrong. Update your bios to F6 version, +0.2vdimm, and set the cpu host clock to 400mhz, memory multiplier to 2x, and watch it flies  wub.gif

thanks, sifu notworthy.gif i google wht is bios F6 vers. first....

2nd question. I use Super PI and GO-ORTHOS Beta to test stabability. But i dunno how to evaluate the score. Can some OC pros please tell me how to evaluate score please.

for my case, I increased vFSB -> vMCH -> vCore
vDimm only applied when your ram not stable

Yes, starting I added the voltage follow by vFSB -> vMCH -> vCore, then, I found there is no temp diff in my n/b if I set +0.1, +0.2 or +0.3, so I just put max for my vFSB(+0.3) and vMCH(+0.3).

Normally, ppl will recon using software like memtest86+ in DOS,  memtest in Windows or using Bleand test from Prime95/ SP2004. Test it for long run, 24hours recon by most ppl.

For me, I took anather alternative way(fast and reliable), I will use those software to test my rams for maybe 1-3hours, then I'll start play games, eg Battlefield2(it used RAM resources HELL alot). You will know your ram not stable when you played battlefield 2 for 1 hour+, coz it will definatly will crash laugh.gif

So ur max voltage increase is +0.3 for vFSB, vMCH and vCore...
U know how much is your limit?? or u just watchin the temp to make decission??
Im really not dare to increase voltage like u ppl.. because i dunno how much my mobo and proc can take...

Guys my E63 only can reach 2.331Ghz (333x7).. beyond that BIOS cannot reboot. izzit bottleneck by my RAM??
Because my RAM only can go until 667Mhz.. if u adjust to 334x7, RAm is beyond 667 already. Cant reboot.

My 2.331ghz temp is 60-62C for both core. Is that too high??

Increase your CPU and memory voltage a little and see whether it is stable or not. If you are looking for mild OC I think up to 5% voltage increase is enough dee.

So i need to increase CPU and RAM's clock and voltage same time?? But if increasing CPU clock the RAM clock will also increase automaticlly above 667.. im using 667 RAM only wo..

but im runnig I-cute 450W also.. no OC i run 8 hours... no reboot happen..
last time i buy this PSU becasue PSU + casing only cost RM 120. i think still worth la.. because cheap casing alone also cost RM 100+. Now i plan to buy Enermax also i can still use back tht case. If really budget tihgt can consider i-cute la.

Hi.. wanna ask overclockers sifu here. blush.gif
my E6300 stock (266x7) idle = 50-51C

but when i oc to
2.3Ghz the temp reach 58C-59C idle;
2.8Ghz reach 61-62C idle, load temp is 64-65C.

Question:
# Aft OC idle temp between 2.3GHz and 2.8GHz are almost the same.. is tht normal??
# When 2.8GHz load temp is 65C.. is tht acceptable?? (i worry when it go over 60C)
# How much vCore should i adding to go beyond 400FSB?? (normal vCore setting for my mobo is 1.32?)
# How much voltage will cause dmg to proc.??
# How to check my default vCore,vDimm and vMCH??

# I tried to oc my RAM.. i tune [FSB =266]@stock; [RAM multiplier =3] but my pc cant reboot... why this happen??
Even i tried [FSB =300]; [RAM multiplier = 2.5] still cant reboot..

*using intel stock HSF only.
*using Intel TAT to monitor temp.
*using 965P-S3 mobo

THanks biggrin.gif
