*

like nicety said, no need to update every alpha or beta.
if u got time, ok, do it.
If not, just wait for rc1 or release candidate 1.

been a crawy week again, haven't got time to watch any but interested to update for bbts sake.... sad.gif
*
if u mean u r still on gotham and like to have bbts, u surely want to go Kodi 14.0 helix beta3 right away!
bbts is way better than all the live tv streams that I know. beats ilive, livetsreams in old mashup, live channels on cloudtv.
pretty sure can get live soccer matches on skysports 1, 5.
the sd channels are very stable. however, the hd ones are moody... Some smooth, some not.

not entirely sure but I find video addon genesis works better on Kodi than gotham. pretty similar to popcorn time, only it has less hd stuff.

mentioned before, q16 strength lies in the good size memory, can handle all 1080p stuff in popcorn time which smaller memory androids like q5ii can't. also, it can somehow be made to handle xbmctorrent albeit not so elegant. I advise any new android box buyer to go for 16gb, if not 32gb!

lastly. something nice n simple, if u like music and not got it yet.... If u like sky.fm radio music station like I do, get it under a new name called radio tunes in music addons. My fav radio music station. wink.gif

q16 quad is probably among the best in the market now, make full use of it. more so when v r already paying a high price for broadband! tongue.gif

mango, hitv, pudding, vst, pptv, togic

english:
kodi - genesis, xbmctorrent, bbts livetv, navi-x, kissanime

and i can't help on hongkong cantonese videos - something i used to like long time ago but now prefer china mandarin ones.

ok rclxms.gif , will want to try bbts.... btw for genesis, do one need to constantly key in the password to watch selected movies? is this norm?
*
if u mean captcha, key in the displayed words, yes... sometimes.
i always look for movreel or mightyupload links which do not require captcha.
hugefiles, billionupload and many others ask for it.
so, up to you...

either hdd has some error (which you can check and rectify on pc) or kodi being still beta version has a unique bug.

It should be user friendly mah, who the hell knows you gotta dig deep in to access. tongue.gif not for the normal users. It should be setup so that it shows on the main browse screen la, maybe the kodi devs missed this part. They can do it for the thumbdrive I'm sure it's easy to put any HDD attached to the main browse screen.

actually, i think that is the way androids work.

anyone after years of pc windows and new to android will find certain things "strange" in android file/folder management. not only that one u encountered, there are more, e.g.

... android no double click, no drag and drop but click and hold to select
... es file explorer - if option not activated, some files will be hidden, can't see
... some actions need mouse, some need remote control - need both to cover all actions

have fun! biggrin.gif

Specifically how the way android linux kernel works.

All I'm saying is normal users won't know where to look for  unless they have dabbled abit in android before or used a linux system. There is no need to put down these so called 'noobs' just because they are new users.
*
i am a noob to androids, was including msyelf, really.

ok, won't comment anymore. smile.gif

X8H plus is minor upgrade with gigabit Ethernet and H.265 which Q16 already supported. XBMC in X8H plus still remain at Gotham 13, Kodi 14 not preinstalled.
*
just curious...

can this x8h plus passthru ddtruehd and dtshdma to avr?

not quite sure but from what i read, all previous models incl x8h will downgrade dtshdma to core dts only... true?

Thank you AVFAN.

Dear Customers,

The APK file already uploaded in the skydrive. If you purchased your box after 1st Dec, Showbox already pre-installed in your box.
*
showbox is good!

users, just take note:
.. to get subs, u must register with opensubtitles:
http://www.opensubtitles.org/en/newuser
.. if u get "server error", it means your dns can't get thru to showbox. solution is to use another open dns or switch to wifi

showbox is excellent for tv shows and 720p mp4 movies.

popcorn time is excellent for 1080p (q16 only, not q5ii, q5iii?) mp4/mkv movies, not so good for tv shows.

these two combined - u have it all for english vod's! thumbup.gif

interesting read:

Quick List:
Popcorn Time (Official)
Flixtor (Relaunched!)
MoviePanda (New!)
Cuevana Storm
FlicsTor
IsoPlex (by Isohunt.to)
Time4Popcorn
UNTV
Pulsar (Alpha)
XBMCtorrent
Stream(XBMCtorrent fork)
DuckieTV (Updated!)
Zona
AceStream
RoxPlayer
Mobile alternatives
ShowBox (Android)
MovieBox (iOS)
Alternative Lists
Website Streaming List
Music Streaming List

i hv tried popcorn time, xbmctorrent, zona and showbox.

popcorn time and showbox are best - uptodate, easy to use, stable, malware free (so far), subs.
xbmctorrent is ok but takes more steps, may not work well on some androids.
zona is not english user friendly as it is russian based.
looking forward to pulsar which is from the developer of xbmctorrent.

if anyone had tried others, pls comment, share. q16's memory can take a few more apps!

Hi, how to get navigation button for himedia ? i find it difficult to navigate.
*
not sure what u mean, pls explain a bit better.

but i suspect u havent explored fully the remote control, and maybe not using mouse.
you need to use both remote control and mouse to get all functions for all apps.
some apps like popcorn can't work with remote, need mouse.
latest version of mangotv works only with remote, mouse wont work.

**note u can use remote as a mouse but wont serve all functions e.g. like drag n drop.

Would this media box make certain movie apk doesn't support well like lagging everytime when watching the movie or drama?
*

QUOTE(Allen77 @ Dec 10 2014, 09:28 AM)
My friend using Mibox, no one using hi media currently, haha, and Mibox is now prohibited by china government, so the interface unable to use, only jail broken version works with its problem, so I have no idea with hi media media box
*

i hv read posts in other threads about mibox n mitv can't access certain things other androids can. i do not know these devices. so, can't comment.

but for himedia, i hv used a lot over the last year. i will say these:

.. not all android brands or even models of same brand are the same
.. the device itself does not guarantee u all the good n smooth stuff
.. other impt factors incl: broadband speed/stability; optimal settings for ip/dns/vpn; up-to-date firmware/apks; service support from seller
.. personal interest, patience and time spent in understanding how all that works to get the max from the device
.. (repeat) androidtv box is not static like dvd player or axtrobox - u need constant updates to keep up with software changes for hardware/apps/apks

if u do the above right, u enjoy a lot n save a lot of money. i no longer miss axtro becos i m now getting more than before. english, i just watched in hd, 2 new movies in the last 3 days.

in addition, himedia offers something unique and very good for mandarin movies/drama, i just watched the first 3 episodes of condor heroes 2014, in hd, nice! thumbup.gif

lastly, u may want to read this thread where many new android users ask the same questions.

Thanks for the answer, I just worry about the stability, due to China is now prohibit media box users of other countries to watch any movie, drama, show and others from certain free apk like VST, Youku and Todou. Does himedia solve this problem? like watching the movie but lagging every second.
*
yes, that is true. the blockages for generic apks like vst, youku, vqq, togic apply to himedia box just like others.

(note that sometimes it is not due to china blocking but local isp like unifi having exhausted their china traffic quota, can't get anything thru - this happened last sep and nov.)

there may be better ways to deal with the china blockages, i can think of 3:

.. find the lastest apks, update; those guys need to play hide n seek, so u follow
.. use workable dns or vpn (some free, some payable)
.. install as many apps as u can such that at least 1 or 2 work at any one time; my experience, puding, hitv and mango works best (note hitv n mango are unique to himedia, their apks will not work on other devices)

nicety can advise u more on this...

*
what device(s) r u using now with unifi5?

if u explain more with other info like yr fav apps, shows, wifi or ethernet, torrent much or not... maybe i can comment a bit more if himedia q16 quadcore will work well for you. for me, it does!

it is kuaibo tv box, always using the apk including VST, dianru HD, PPS, all are unable to get full internet speed
*
i see...
if the apks and dns are not the best ones, u will surely not stream well with them.
there were times when i got full hd on vst and pptv but very hard now due to geoblocks, etc.
now, i tend to stick to hitv and puding which still work well.

yr case, i think only a good vpn will get the device to stream well but that will come with a cost.
also, unifi5 will probably not allow you to stream the highest hd videos.
my unifi10 ethernet q16 can sometimes get the highest, 蓝光 smoothly but usually 超清 or 高清.

Any suggestion on VPN? I gonna try it. Yes, now only the puding able to run on better speed
*
no, i dun hv any to suggest; i m still looking for a reliable one as backup when the unifi quota problem recurs, and i expect it to.

but do google, there may be some with free trial period.

if still considering new device, himedia q16 is probably among the best - large memory required to take more apps and stream 1080p from certain sites like popcorn time; usb playback with native player is simple and effective incl iso/bdmv/dtshdma files; easy to use samba; comes with hitv and mangotv for chinese videos. plus seller nicety's great service, as mentioned by many here already! wink.gif
