those who have the working versions of hdptv and hdpfans apps should check them out.

after auto update, they are now bigger and better!

hdptv now has more categories, more HD videos.

hdpfans now has some new good stuff in the new test sections.

for kodi users... if u r adventurous, try superbox build and projectcypher plugin on 16.0 jarvis.

you will get quite a no. of new and reliable int'l tv channels, incl singapore/indon/thai tv and some live sports in HD!

i don't think 17.0 is released yet. but soon, i think.

go for 16.1 jarvis. from googleplay direct at the box is easier. can also do at pc, get ARM version.

if u don't care about your current kodi setup, uninstall the app, delete the data. and totally remove the unwanted folders in using es file explorer incl clear those in recycle bin to free up memory.



about superbox build, a few things have changed since. so do read the KODI thread for developments.

superbox build is still good. but cypher addon is no longer working as the owner got angry over a fella copying his work and name.

for live sports, get adrian super tv - all good channels in HD.

note after u installed superbox, you will need to spend time uninstalling the addons u don't want and enable some others you may want.

as the build has a lot of repos, there are a lot of addons to go through.

one addon u should try is QUASAR. yr q16 should have 6-8gb capacity, so that is v good for this addon.

read up on this addon... it is complex and takes some work to get it right, not easy.

in general, KODI is not easy to handle. i hope u r ready for all the work required to get all the good stuff!

good that u like it.

i actually did not like the skin at first, the fonts are not eye-friendly.

but, it is fast, unlike some other builds where it slows down navigation.

subs... need to enable some sub programs like opensubtitles, subscene.

sometimes they don't work but come back after a while.

using apex laucnher.

but i ignore it, just click the message away.

does not affect anything else.

i update to firmware 304, same message with apex launcher.



nicety, the message remains if i use another launcher; only way to get rid of it is to use simple UI or default?

i remember the ui coversion, did that once before.

my other q5ii went blank last night. flashed and resinstalled everything.

this time, cannot set apex as default, mg launcher remains.

can only use one-key access to get to apex.

looks ok now but afraid it will persist unless i do the simple ui process.

will there be a new firmware soon for all affected models so that there is no need to go thru simple ui?

i actually reinstalled HDP live on Q16 today, works OK.

but as u already said, if using 3rd party launcher, no problem - that's the case for me.

HDP live is very useful - good for Thomas Cup and coming Euro Cup - in HD!

OK, will avoid using HDP on Q5ii.

set it as high as your tv can take it.

if it cannot take, q16 will reject.

q16 with 4k tv can be set to 2160p, 24 or 30hz.

depending on video, 2160p 24hz may not work well.

like to report something on this 304.

some videos will by default come out full screen when they should be 16:9.

need to correct this using remote's menu, quite full screen.

the problem is it returns to same when u power off, does not stay.

303 did not have this issue.

hope himedia will correct it with next firmware.

reminder...

u can get it live, in hd with...

.. cctv5 or cctv5+
.. bein, tsn and possible others in kodi.

for rio 2016, u have these choices:

.. hypptv: 7 channels in 1080i
.. kodi-adrian supertv-world of sports: 5 channels in 576
.. boxerliveplayer (in nicety's drive): cctv5, cctv5+in 720

cctv5, cctv5+ suspended in tvplus2.0, hdp, hdpfans.

users of kodi/adrian supertv, take note old versions 1.1.0 or 1.1.1 has been nulled.

u need new repo to get version 1.1.6 to get it back.

superbox last update was may 16, no more after that.

yes, many things inside not working anymore.

but that is also due to many addons themselves are not being updated or replaced by new, e.g. adriansupertv and mr network tv.

i am still using it but have to manually remove and put new addons.

try these new addons, pretty good:

i checked yesterday.

in KODI, azdrama is dead-dead.

however, icdrama which is more or less a mirror of azdrama is working well.

drama24h, dramago, dramanice all working too.

if any of these does not work, just uninstall the old addon(s), reinstall.

I acquired a Himedia Q10pro!

Q16 and Q5ii still in good use.

This Q10pro works with 4K AVR and 4K TV.

My first findings with Q10pro, 2/16gb, android 7:

GENERAL
.. solid box, stays cool unlike q16 which gets quite hot if w/o mini fan.
.. new launcher is simple and functional, good.
.. connectivity, wifi, just the same as q16, q5ii.
.. HDD slot is simple - I put a 7 yr old old unit in there, works good.
.. playback with native media center or file manager as usual, as promised - 2160p 60fps, HD audio, hevc265, 10bit, BDMV - all good. Yet to test DD Atmos, DTSX.


KODI
.. I installed kodi 17.0 rc3 in there, used org.xbmc.org from q16, works good. By the way, Kodi 17 is very nice looking!
.. 4k, hevc265, 10 bit streams from Quasar, OK.
.. but there can only be 2.0 audio from the addons at this time - a Kodi 17 (not with kodi 16.1) issue with androids. Read that himedia will be coming up with a fix for this kodi 17 multi channel/hd audio stream issues. USB playback is fine with the wrapper set to player and audio passthrough enabled.


Perhaps because I already know quite a bit about himedia Q series boxes, I expected nothing less. It will be a shock for me if I encounter funny problems!
One thing I am aware is that the pleasant experience with the box right from the start is not something to be taken for granted.

Q16 users looking for an upgrade, take note - Q10pro can do the following that Q16 cannot:
.. Android 5, 6 or 7
.. HDR, DTSX (according to specs)
.. Kodi 17 (requires android 5 and above)
.. stream kodi 4k, hevc265, 10 bit videos

Q10pro is a “serious” android box. Certainly a great choice for those looking to great playback of UHD4K and HD AUDIO files besides all the usuals.

After using it for a few more days, i can say it is a natural upgrade from q16.

As new hevc265 file compression std and 10 bit color becomes more common, u gotta move along.

And kodi 17.0 just got official.

There were some apps reportedly cant work on android6, i could get them to work on android7.

Go for it!

q16 users... take note... should stick with kodi 16.1 jarvis which is very stable.

q16 with android 4.4.2 cannot take kodi 17 krypton.

nicety... q16 is android 4.4.2.

cannot install kodi 17 krypton, does not support.
