Its nice for fire monks for sure, but if you're looking at doing big burst damage especially WoL, holy is still the way to go. I think holy will be very viable for coming patch.

the way i see it... Lightning should now be the King in term of damage!

1. Hands of Lightning : Increase the number of hits in the second strike from 7 to 10 and increasing damage to 429% weapon damage as Lightning. (Damage was Physical)

2. Pillar of the Ancients : Summon an ancient pillar that deals 635% weapon damage as Lightning, followed by 785% weapon damage as Lightning over 3 seconds to enemies who remain in the area. (Damage up from 498%, damage was Physical. Additional damage up from 498%. Damage is now over 3 seconds, instead of after 2 seconds)

Pillar of the Ancients is now the biggest Spirit Spender and by far has biggest boost and is now lighting.

I will test my 6-set Raiment of Thousand set after patch. I got 5 out of the 6 gears now. smile.gif

I've been playing Pillars all my monk life since 1.08 and I can tell you, without a certain stun or Blind, it's dam hard to use. If you're looking at moving mobs, it's even worst. Back at 1.08, you blind them, they get stun and you spam pillars like crazy because they can't be moving. Pillars have to hit twice for full damage and not too mention the slight knockback. The damage from patch sounds interesting enough but from my experience, it really differs in practice.

But, at least their making changes to monk. What I would really love to see is if they actually do something about OWE. A lot of other classes argue that OWE is a luxury but in practice, they don't understand how hard it is to use owe in RoS. It takes out every chance of getting a good roll on items just to get that single ReS and not too mention playing T5-T6 rift runs, I see all the monks forced to having one mantra which is Healing - Time of Need unless u have full Inna's. I hope they come up with a solution to make monks very viable in terms of damage and defense. Back to trying out the new monk changes. Good thing I've been stacking Lightning since the beginning.

I have full inna, and even with that.. i find it hard to tank from t3 onwards..

reason being.. i keep changing my gear and rerolling stats..

-sacrificing resistance for damage
-sacrificing damage for resistance / vitality

it's either, i go full on damage and run around with little to no resist and 400k HP

OR

I run around with 900k+ HP and VERY VERY little damage.

compared to my wizard, i simply wack in gears that give me upgrades, regardless of damage or toughness, i still end up with over 1000 resistance for all elements and i deal quite abit of damage

Can any sifu comment on my build and what more items i need to find?

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Alyssa-1716/hero/42885052

Which is better, holy or lightning?

And as for WKL, does the % increase adds in directly for skills or its a percentage of it? Example is Sweeping Wind : Cyclone. Does the damage of the Cyclone becomes 23%+22% WKL or else?

u gota try the new Pillar of Ancient! It's not like the old one! This one awesome! Much faster and bigger. I actually hate the slow animation of LTK.

(The "ramen" of the Thousand Storms still sucks... damn it.. yes i tested with FoT too)

Sorry, recording from MBA.

Tried it and the new version is nice. Much better then the old. The only problem is... it blocks you and every party member from moving.. HEHE.. this has got to be fixed. I got stuck with a party when i was spamming it.. Everyone died when molten went kaboom!

Personally, I am a bit sad as well since it now deal Cold Damage and no longer benefit from my Holy gears. Other than that it work just as cool.

I tested WotFH - Hands of Lightning. With all of the hits now lightning, the damage is really awesome. Surpass Fist of Fury.
