Hi,

My google chrome browser is using total 1.1GB of RAM memory with 5 tabs opened, is this normal? Or my computer got problem?

My computer only got 2GB RAM. Now the momery usage of my whole computer exceed 2GB limit and started to use my harddisk as temporary RAM and my computer is running slow because of harddisk become busy after being used as temporary RAM. If i close the Chrome browser the RAM usage of my whole computer will drop back to around 1GB level.

Possible to reduce the RAM usage of google chrome?

Thank You

it is normal. chrome is quite memory intensive since it utilized sandboxing model for added security and stability reason, each tab and extension or plugin is running as different processes would result in a higher memory consuming. try use other browser like firefox or internet explorer, they should be more efficient in memory management compare to chrome.

What is extension?
I think not full of flash, one tab is hotmail, another tab is hotmail's outlook calendar, then the remaining tabs all are information based website only word and some picture, no flash no youtube, some website have some gif image in their ads.

Unfortunately, i like google chrome very much, its functionality suit me very much.
If they can solve the memory problem, will make it perfect.

Where is Opera? sweat.gif
Presto based Opera is actually very good, but the newer version switched to webkit engine doh.gif sweat.gif (same as chrome already)
Firefox is okay, but not on the older OS such as XP, cause hardware acceleration does not work on XP any more (as of version 28).
For reducing RAM usage on firefox, use this addons www.browsermemory.com
