Hi all, just wanna check with if you are having the same prob with me. My fuel indicator is seriously not accurate. I went to pump petrol yesterday morning at 830am with indicator showing slightly below half and only took in a max of 14.927 liter of fuel (for 186km). After running for 108km after refueling yesterday morning, indicator is at 3rd quarter. For a 52liter tank, it should be showing more meaning still within d 4th quarter zone. Is this normal for B17 or my indicator or tank sensor has prob? Thanks a bunch

Any of you guys have similar prob?

Interesting the speedometer of the Sylphy 1.8 now goes up to 240km/h. The previous Sylphy 2.0 speedometer only shows up to 180km/h.

fellas, i wanna ask around here, anyone of you facing undercarriage problem on your sylphy? may it be the B17 or the G11 model that you are driving? I was thinking to buy a sylphy, was talking around with mechanics and the feedback from them is about the undercarriage problem, bushing, lower arm tend to worn and rattling.... anyone here having this problem?

Sorry, not sure what is B17 or G11. If you are talking about the previous Sylphy 2.0 model year 2008 to 2013, I have owned this model for 5 years. No issues with bushing and lower arm rattling. Only 2 minor issues with my car - wind sound from the driver's side windscreen above 130 km/h. This was rectified by replacing the rubber lining ; dashboard showing bubbles after 2 years - replaced free of charge by Tan Chong.

IT's a good car. Very quiet (low engine and road sound) and very low rattling sound inside the cabin even when the car is already 5 years old. My Proton Preve Turbo, just 2+ years old there is major rattling sound from the doors when going over bad roads.

thanks bro, your input is inspiring, well B17 is the 1.8 ones, G11 is last gen sylphy (which is yours). i personally like the insulation of nissan cars, which i heard lotsa good thing about sylphy's insulation. well, 130kph windscreen noise is normal, others would be like started noisy by 100kph.

Thanks bro

Yes, the Nissan Sylphy surely has good insulation. Even though my current Ford Focus is a reasonably quiet car, it is still not as quiet as the Sylphy (2.0). There is an apparent absence of road noise and traffic noise from other vehicles on the road, and the sound of the engine is fairly muted. Due to the quietness of the car, you can hear the wind noise starting from 130 km/h onwards as the car is too quiet. Unlike other cars, for example the Proton Preve Turbo, at 100 km/h onwards the loud engine sound has dominated everything. Even if there is wind sound, it would have been masked by the loud engine and road sound, not to mention the rattling sound when going over bad roads.

If you want quietness and comfort, the Nissan Sylphy is a good choice. Not sure if the current Sylphy 1.8 is an improvement over the older 2.0 model in the areas of quietness as I read that the quality of production may have gone down.

I owned the previous generation year 2007 Nissan Sylphy 2.0 bought new and sold it in 2012. I am aware there are some criticism on the car but I have nothing but good words on the quality and performance of the vehicle. It's surely a good car to me and I can surely recommend it based on performance and comfort. It's a very comfortable car in terms of long-distance cruising (nice soft and plush leather seats) and the comfort soft-tuned suspension whereby you don't feel the knocks and bumps too much when going over imperfections on the road surface.

There are not much negatives apart from the shape of the car which is a little old-fashioned (the latest Sylphy model looks more modern with the Teana-like shape) and the quality of interior which is also a little old-fashioned with the wooden strips. But in terms of comfort it is ahead of the Honda Civic and even the Accord to me due to the plush leather seats and soft suspension. Toyota Camry's leather seats are harder and dont' feel as comfortable as the soft and plush leather seats of the Sylphy.

Sometimes I hope car manufacturers concentrate more on the finer aspects of the car especially with family sedans, particularly on the leather seats. I have not tried many cars but in my experience so far I have not experienced a car with a softer and plusher seats than the Nissan Sylphy in the price range of RM170k and below. All Honda, Toyota and Mazda cars have harder leather seats which are not as comfortable. But for more performance orientated cars which concentrate more on handling particularly Mazda, the seats cannot be too soft anyway. But for family cars which are comfort-orientated, softer leather seats are surely more welcome.
