Guys,

A friend of mine purchased a GPU on sale from Amazon US/UK but once arrived, the GPU DOA.

May I know if you guys know where can I send the card locally to be fixed? Don't mind paying extra. Rather deal with local shop rather than shipping back to US/UK.
*
What brand? If it's normal brands like Asus, Gigabyte, MSI or Sapphires then go see the local distros. Zotac ask cyntrix. Gainward and Leadtek ask lingloong who is the local distro. Powercolor go Feiton. If it's EVGA or Galaxy you're out of luck.

ASUS and Giga dont entertain international warranties last i recall

its always specific to the location theyre purchased from

At least he can get it fixed locally at worse case scenario, rather than shipping it back there again. Haha. But for XFX I really hope that company still can help him out

I have a feeling hooh888's PC is gonna look exactly like this. Bugger already anodized his Carbide 540 blue. And waiting for 290X Vapor X to chuck on his blue Asrock Z97 Extreme6. ntw

My 290X is 60c on idle even under water and hits 80 when i open chrome. It wasn't like this before 14.7 got installed. It was even 90c when i am not doing anything when i switched the DVI cable to the bottom one. My 4770K is cosy at 34c tops idle. Dafuq.

Reinstalled 14.6. Rebleeded the loop. Shake the damn PC. Lowered to 50c but still damn high. At least it went down but guess i have to reinstall the water block again. sigh.

No issues with flow. My CPU and VRMs are positively frozen as well. Only the GPU core is causing me problems. i have a feeling the TIM or one of the thermal tapes is causing not enough contact.

If not enough contact, either problem with TIM or thermal tape, it should happen from day one. It doesn't suddenly happen out of nowhere.
*
I only installed the block last friday brah. It was stock reference before that. No issues.

Sigh. Why did i go WC. Should have went 290 Croessfire non reference and be done with it. sweat.gif

Your temp still not solved?
*
Nope i also have run outta fittings as well. Sigh. Monsoon fittings flake off paint like nobody's business. Now my loop is extra weird.

cstkl1 It's pump-cpu-420-290x-240-res.

And will do, but not now, i am scared to even open chrome now. It hits 85c right away. @.@
Let me reinstall the loop first. Will try to mount the pump and get extra fittings.

Btw do u double check the gpu core really touch the block properly?
That day my pump's power connector loose & caused the pump stop functioning the temp still not that worst as yours
*
That's why i said will try reinstalling haha. At first was my cpu problem. Out of the box it pumped 1.7V into my 4770K. Madness. Then also like you, pump power connector loose, heat went up like nuts. Solved both issues plus two leak incidents. Thought ok edu, now GPU problem. Sigh.

Sigh again.

I see. I just rely on your previous post which make it seems the issue started after installing 14.7 driver.

Did you use thermal pad on the memory? If you do, this could explains why you got high temp.
*
Yeah used the pre included aqua thermal pad. But it's quite thin. Should i not use it at all?

I hope so. hahaha,

QUOTE(kizwan @ Aug 5 2014, 07:51 PM)
As far as I know, with Aqua block, you only need to use TIM on the memory. The pad only for VRMs.
*
I followed the stock 290X pad layout.

Thanks kizwan and cstkl1. Will give it a try. I think it's the thermal pads on the VRM. Even though its like twice as thin as the EK ones it's probably lifting the gpu core higher than needed.

Definitely but he use thermal pad on the memory which is not correct. He should follow the manual & use only TIM on the memory.

hence y always plan with a  fillport and drainport.
*
I got an epic drain port. Its a ball valve connected to a T block linking the gpu to 240 rad tube route. It angles out at 45' so i just place a bucket there and it drains beautifully. Fillport is missing. Have to unscrew the res cover. Hehe. sweat.gif

Gonna try to properly hang the pump/res beside the mobo. So reloop part might take a week or so. Need to get drills and more fittings. Sigh.

kizwan it was catastrophic enough to make the whole thing bring to a halt. tongue.gif Lucky no permanent damage done though. That would have been worse.

Holy bloody hell. Finally fixed the PC, reloop and remounted everything.

Furmark Benchmark (2560x1440/Max Settings)

45c Load Temp for GPU.
50-53c Load Temps for CPU.

Idle is around 37-39c for both. Water is 33-34c. Non air con room

Will try stuff like Prime95 and Unigine later.

45C in non A/C room? I don't buy it but what do you care right. Kudos for getting better temps nonetheless.  thumbup.gif

I was pretty much surprised myself. But 420+360 for single CPU and single GPU, it's kinda overkill anyways.

Tested Battlefield 3, 2560x1440 Ultra Graphics, But medium for everything else , GPU 68 % Load, 48C.

Will try to max it all out later to night..

Ok, 290X has been running at 1100Mhz Clocks and 1300Mhz memory. 50-51c on BF4 Ultra Settings 4xMSAA. (1440p@60Hz)

Any point overclocking it? Never really OCed much before. Need some guidance.
