nowadays to place FD, you will have to open a savings account with that branch if you dont have a savings account opened in the same city/town correct?
so troublesome

depends on promo

if pure FD don't need, if involve CASA then yes usually because they want to deposit the interest 3 / 6 month to you (before maturity of FD).

really?? darn. Hong leong bank forced me to open a new savings account. Reason is because i dont have savings account from the same city. So now i have two freaking saving accounts with hong leong bank.
the FD i placed is 3.0x% pa i think. normal 'board' rate without promotion.
my friend later mentioned this is because of some money laundering scandal in sarawak, involving HSBC and high ranking people

6 months - Maybank (3.73%)
12 months - Affin (3.7%)
13 months - UOB (3.85%)
15 months - RHB (4.06%)
that's new, btw why go for HLB? CIMB online also 3.25 for a month tongue.gif

i tried with Affin, board rate don't need any account. Maybe new rule? hmm.gif

that was two months back. too rushed so i went to the nearest bank.
guess i can check out RHB's promo now? if they ask me to open savings account again, die ahhhhh already have savings account with them but opened at different city.

Can i complain to bank negara? banks requesting unreasonable opening of savings account. already have savings account with them, then ask me to open another one because of different city/branch.
But i have a feeling its Hong Leong only?
