Looks like I have to park my money reserved for EPF's self-contribution scheme in FD. Went to see a EPF CS @JB office and was told that those working and contributing EPF are not eligible to join this scheme and if found out the amount will be returned.

Previously, I copied and shared in the above which was posted by cybpsych at Maybankard 2 Cards Thread as I thought the info would be beneficial to those of us having OD facility. I.e. Withdrawing Bank A FD and then perform IBG transfer to Bank B and then write a cheque at the same time to Bank A to be eligible for FD Promo with Fresh Fund.

And with the short discussion between a few of us, one of us mentioned about performing IBG over the counter. And guess what, I wasted RM2 to try out IBG transfer and I am happy to report that the transfer was credited into the receiving account on the same day smile.gif

A Little Bit Of this and A Little Bit Of That - Vol.1, Chapter IV.

Bro, RM2 not wasted lah, cost incurred to confirm this method is workable, barring any IBG hiccup.

PBB STEP-UP FD:
3.4% (month 1 - 3)
3.6% (month 4 - 6)
3.8% (month 7 - 9)
According to T&C 4.5, interest rate will change with OPR?

https://www.pbebank.com/Personal-Banking/Pr...STEP-UP-FD.aspx

https://www.pbebank.com/pdf/Promotions/tc_p...up_frmjuly.aspx

4.5 The promotional interest or profit rate (whichever applicable) will be
subject to revision should there be any Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) change.
The revision of rate may impact any of the promotional interest or profit
rate (whichever applicable) i.e. first 3-month rate or first rollover rate or
second rollover rate, where FD or investment placement made in this
Campaign will be subject to the revised promotional interest or profit rate
(whichever applicable) for subsequent roll-overs.

I'm using personal cheque to transfer money but being charged RM50 for "referral of cheque" fee.
Hence my advice is to minimise personal cheque for FD placement.

I have never faced such problem when using personal cheque for FD placement. Which bank's cheque are u using?

Oh okay. So since the min placement is RM10000 to FD alone, i will need to bring another RM500 for the CASA. Man, I hate this CASA thingy  biggrin.gif

If possible, use the RHB Junior Saving Acc(3% int) for the 5% CASA portion to maximise returns. Wonder whether can use this as a joint acc? After 90 days transfer this amount to other FD on Promo. I think this RHB Stepup FD has the advantage of early withdrawal btw cycles, in case of other better investment.

Call the CS this morning on this but was told that Junior SA not considered in this promo. Went to RHB taman Megah PJ's branch to reconfirm but was told otherwise.

Read from the other thread that MBSB, CIMB n RHB may merged. I wonder whether the RHB promo (and CC benefits) will be affected too.
*
I wonder how long it takes to merge 3 corporation, > 1 year?

Ha ha, a lot of hungry fish waiting for baits ?  drool.gif  drool.gif

For me, I would look at the bank's history of offers, wait until at least 2 banks rate increase, .......

This fish will be choosy as far as baits are concerned. Hungry for a short while.  cry.gif

while waiting where would you park your money?

Thanks !

I was hoping that they increase the OPR by 50 basis points. Some economist was saying with the increase now the OPR will remain unchanged for 2014.  cry.gif
*
Some said another increase of 25 basis points in Sept2014.

I really hope the increase of OPR can make the property market price drop and let the
property speculators suffer from loss.

Recently all new property developers that without experience also come to this industry to
built new condos just like no need to use capital.

Repeat of the 1997-98 crisis? I remember a 2-storey-link in 1U sold for rm180k.

Renewed and top up my RHB FD for 12 months at 3.88% yesterday. The step up after 12 months will get slightly less than 3.78%. This is because of the 5% FD to be placed in CASA.
*
If you have taken up the stepup FD to 12 months, you most likely will not cash out becos the next 3months you will get 5.38%. So effectively u get > 4% even with the CASA thingy.
