Hello all expert in FD,
My FD is going to mature next week. Shall I withhold the fund first until BNM announce the hike in OPR ? Maybe later all banks may offer much more attractive rate or shall I just place my $$$ in other banks without wasting any time. Kindly advise. TQ

You have to decide yourself based on the amount and other reasons. One way is to put monthly or 3 months short term FD while waiting for the OPR to change. But definitely have to put somewhere to get some interest first.  smile.gif

Not much different between 3.85% or 3.9% as my principal is less than RM20k

FD that more than 12 months, bank need to give the interest every 6 months, so they need a saving account to credit the interest.
No account, interest no where to go.

I thought they will paid the interest in one lump sum when the FD is matured. From past experience with UOB, the interest earned will print on the receipt once u make the FD placement

Finally i parked my money in UOB today, 13 month@3.9%.
Need to open a SA for them to deposit the interest which will be paid half yearly and the min amount needed to open the SA is Rm20. It comes with Atm card, no passbook.

The sales manager tried to intro me the saving plan which they collaborate with Prudential, 5.88% with min 9k investment, but i didn't want that. It's more suitable for long term saving.

Hello Hunter, I just open UOB 13 months FD 3.90% but the officer mentioned that I must place 2k in the SA. This make me feel that UOB is a bit sneaky as they did not tell the customer the whole story in the term & condition. mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif . It is definitely not a straight forward FD.
