bearbear These are what the staff told me:
1. The Affin 15m 4.05% promo...it is a straight forward FD

2. SA is mandatory...principal + interest will be credited into the SA upon reaching maturity date

3. The RM20 is for ATM card, RM100 for passbook

4. FD withdrawal from other branch is allowed but limit to a maximum amount of RM50K
*
thanks for confirming, weird i don't get an ATM card. Maybe i told him i don't need, the amount of ATM card is bothering me.

QUOTE(bearbearwong @ Aug 1 2014, 06:07 PM)
the Affin bank slips is better got class and cover.. maybank also cheap papers.. and ugly and non transparent covers..
*
UOB also cheap, not sure for groupon deal only or what. It is not even a proper cert for me.

You didn't get an ATM card means :
1. you've placed a FD with Affin
2. deposited RM20
3. but tarak ATM card?

Like that ka?
*
Yup, i deposit fd amount + RM20 for SA. Walk away with FD cert only and a SA number.

But 2 years wor..  sweat.gif

And furthermore what if OPR increase again soon..?  brows.gif
I would go for Affin 15 months pure FD at 4.05%

RHB 15 months at 4.1% looks troublesome for me since it needs to
put addition 5% into CASA for 3 months, 3 months later will need to
take the money out and place it as FD again in another bank and this
is not so cost effective...  sad.gif
In addition, the effective rate is actually lower than 4.1%..

So in conclusion, I think Affin 15 months FD is the best so far ...  thumbup.gif
My opinion only...
*
i run a detail calculation back then. you can get up to 4.14% as they payout the interest every 3 months but principal has to be big else not worth the effort.

Plus we also discussed about the possible merger if they finally decide to pull out from the promo and pay pro-rate you will get shitty return as the step up start at 3.48%

For me unless your deposit is huge, affin is the one to go for.

BoomChaCha,

I tried to google for the Affin 15 mth FD promo but can't seem to find any info about it? Not even on their website.

Some forumer mentioned that, for the Affin 15 mth FD, we need to open SA? Somemore Rm100 for the passbook? Rm20 for ATM? What the....

Actually I only have 3 criteria for my next FD placement.

1) straightforward pure FD, no CASA
2) tenure doesn't matter
3) must be PIDM protected
4) highest interest that fit the 3 criterias above. Hehe

Any other better options? If possible I don't want those banks that gonna emerge soon. So headache..
*
affin is your best hope. only RM20 to open a saving account but your FD does not linked to your SA.

Or you can check out UOB?

On affin 15 months, have a feeling they are not hard selling it. When i placed mine i overheard an elder couple asking of options they have for their expired FD. The CS only intro the 12 months @ 3.7%. Well maybe principal not sufficient or what i don't know. Likewise when i approach them i have to ask, their recommendation is the 12 months with 20% in CASA. doh.gif

So many FD promo, dunno which one to choose. Anyway, does anyone go for OCBC 24 months FD promo ? Can share with me your thought ? Need some advice from expert here smile.gif
*
you ok with 2 years getting you 4%?

Affin / RHB offer slightly better rates for 15 months, with everyone expecting rate to go up perhaps 'safer' to go with shorter term.

Yes.

Especially I see FD rate won't be raised drastically, then this Klibor structured product is good alternative as hedging tool.

Any link / site to read more about Klibor structured product?

hi , just to confirm. You have to open 2 accounts to be entitled to the luggage right? One e-account and one FD with ratio 30:70.

Making the effective rate not 4% .
*
yes. effective only 70% x 4% = 2.8%

but is it only 5k commitment for 3 months. a very small price to pay for luggage set of 3.

not breaching 4 yet.

Assume 10k (i know min 20k, 10k easy to calculate)

6 months = MYR 184 for interest

10,184 for 6 months at 4.08% = MYR 207.75

Total interest = 391.75

so only 3.9175%

Anyone know how does the Mach FD partial withdrawal works? Let's say I chose the 1 year FD with 3.6% interest. How does it differ with the 6 months 3.5% FD since I can withdraw it anytime without any compound ?
*
in multiple of 3k is allowed without affecting other part of your principal.

From what i understand if you withdraw after 3 months you still entitle to 50% interest. Less than 3 months a big fat 0.
